    Das Wunderkind wins gold and Austin's time as a technical wrestler is drawing to a close. Monumental and somber all at the same time. Also, I couldn't help but notice that Davey beating Shamrock with the chair is part of the WWF War Zone intro. 😃

    The Patriot Del Wilkes sounded like a nice guy. But as a kid I felt he was shoehorned in and a shameless, recent creation of an opponent for Brett- although the patriot had been around for many years and was brought in. Brett should’ve had a different opponent, in my opinion, and that would’ve kept him relevant and not needing to leave by Survivor Series.

    • @martynodonnell8467
      @martynodonnell8467 2 года назад

      I think the problem was that the Harts VS USA storyline, should have ended at Canadian Stampede. That was the peak of it. The WWF continued on with the storyline. It was after all one of the greatest storylines in wrestling history. However there was no where for it too go. Therefore The Patriot was shoehorned in to keep on with the storyline. Perhaps the problem was what to do with The Harts, especially Bret Hart going forward, it was difficult especially for Bret, as due to the unique nature of the Harts VS USA storyline, he had difficulty fitting in as a proper face or heel. The WWF then had two problems, how to end the angle and what to do with Bret afterwards. Perhaps this was a main reason behind The Montreal Screwjob. They had no idea what to do with Bret.

    I hated how the nwo NEVER got their comeuppance and how they had to make everybody look even though honestly, 95% of the nwo by this point was nothing but lower mid-card guys. WCW, as a company, was so addicted to and dependent on the nwo that it totally became all they cared about and was concerned with, even at the expense of their own product.

    • @RobJaskula
      @RobJaskula 2 года назад

      Yeah, I remember it being so stale by this point - making the faction wars in the WWF feel even more lazy and derivative.
      I was watching far more WCW at this point and was so hyped for Lex Luger in the summer of 97. Always had been a fan of him and he was well over at this point. About the only thing I'd make sure to watch on Raw was Ahmed Johnson 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @chrishollister80
      @chrishollister80 2 года назад

      @@RobJaskula the nwo rarely lost to anybody and after a year, it really felt like was being forced. DDP was over big time coming out of that feud with Savage, and Syxx getting that win did neither man any favors. And I loathed how Hall and Nash would just act so nonchalant like nothing in the world bothered them. How could anyone invest in a program with them vs anybody when they never looked like they cared, either? And it goes on down to Hogan never defending the title and coming in the ring and laying down while doing a promo. It was just so grating and insulting then. The nwo does not age well at all. But you know how revisionist history goes.
