Msgr. Rudy Villanueva (1940 - )
Born in Mabolo, Cebu City on September 16, 1940, Fr. Rudy Villanueva describes himself as a neo-romantic composer. He obtained his Bachelor of Music, Master of Music and Master of Arts in Literature degrees from the State University of Minnesota at Mankato, U.S.A. His two-volume collection of choral arrangements (a third is under preparation) focuses on old and new Cebuano carols, while aiming for the preservation of the old harana and love song. While the series is called Handumanan (for ‘Remembrance’), it also includes original Villanueva choruses or those of other songwriters needing choral settings for their material.
Kon Hain Man (Msgr. Rudy Villanueva)
Kon hain man ang imong padulngan.
Malungtaron, malamboon, mahimayaon
Ning atong gugma.
Kon hain man (Msgr. Rudy Villanueva)
Wherever you go
Wherever your destination is,
So is my destiny.
I will walk the world to be with you.
How can I be alone
I'm only perfect when you're there.
For the path I take there is no way out
when we are not together.
The God you worship, with you I worship.
And our love is holy, created in heaven.
We can share to decorate this world
With the fruit of our love.
Our prayer to the heavens
Which we ask to give:
Enduring, prosperous, glorious
That is our love.
