Welcome to another Episode of Ross Reviews AU on this weeks Video we take out this awesome and rare E3 HSV R8 Tourer! with only 8 ever made in this colour & Manual this was a real treat to drive and show off on the channel... Modified by Walkinshaw with the W407 Package, Cam, Exhaust, intake.. this BIG manual wagon rips!

It’s such a shame the vf never got a manual. The interior was light years ahead of the ve. But I always preferred the external styling of the ve.
Yes they did, only 50 built. I have 1/10 of the white.
Such an underrated HSV, Just wish the gave the rear the HSV treatment not the SS treatment.

Always a problem with wagons, however the way the Maloo was implemented with the Ultimate Warrior vibe at the back would look absolutely ghastly on the wagon and I really don't think they could do it different because the Maloo was done like that and that would be the HSV look on everything except the sedan. HSV always appealed to the upper middle class bogan (my numberplate is BOGN so it's not a term of disrespect) and they did this really well at the time but they also did it to a strict budget and retooling a different panel for the Holden wagon (both marquee's lowest selling variant), which would then be sold to HSV was not going to be an option. Unfortunate, but basic economics for us that have the wagon love., which is ever growing thanks to millions of SUVs taking over the roads.
Exactly! I love wagons and wanted one in the worst way, but it was stock looking from behind... I got a Sedan as they had the full HSV treatment.
Manual gearboxes are so much fun to drive. My two cars also have a manual ones. Sound and look of this HSV are awesome !!! Thanks for this review, Ross !!!

Really enjoyed the review of the Clubsport Wagon, Ross. It has a great sounding exhaust. Its a proper V8 sound. Great looking car too. I wish these cars were still in production. Not a bad result for the 0-100. Especially considering you’re not used to driving this car. Its a really clean example, once again a real credit to the owner. Great review.

@@RossReviewsau you've reviewed a VW Golf R on your channel. Don't forget their wagon! 2nd hand are a bargain weapon wagon.
Having said that 70k aud in 2010 is now the equivalent of $99,200.42 in 2023 due to inflation lol so it wasn't exactly cheap.
@@craigsampson3386 But it's cheap in comparison to the Euro equivalents so if this thing was new today, it would still be cheaper than the Euro equivalents... It's still not cheap but it's cheaper than the others...

I think the 0-100 time could be a little better if you were quicker between 1st and 2nd.
Easy for me to say of course but, that is what it looked like on the tacho.🤔

That's one rare wagon indeed Johnny the owner is a lucky man,I prefer sedans but I'd gladly own this lol & in 20yrs this will be worth a shitload,well all I can say is you slayed it again brother loved it cheers mate.
all its missing is the black x grille, voodoo blue paint and the 3 square gts rims, and its perfect

Wish we had these here in europe. Its lovely piece of kit. Only way i could is by swapping in Canada spec Chevy SS interior. People do have dome jdm cars here but never seen audm imports so dunno if they can be registered.

They stupidly destroyed their own wagon market and hated on them. When they got this Commodore as Chevy SS(only as sedan) these fools didnt buy them when it was superior Chargers and alike. Its partly on GM too, that they never bothered to intorduce them sooner. They feared it would expose how awful their US offerings were. Perfect storm of everything stupid to ruin chances of commodore catching and also reason why they ruined Holden. If they made Holden expand to europe and usa 20 years ago then they wouldnt have to be shutdown. GM was just stupid.
Goddamn I love this car. I have an '09 G8 GT with the HSV front end swapped on. It looks another like this from the front. I would love to have a chance to own one of these other than the $100K conversions we can get here. I wish all that 2010 garbage that killed Pontiac and other great marquees never happened we were scheduled to get those here. Great review Ross. Thanks for all the great content.

My dream cars are Genf2 R8 Tourer with the LSA and the Genf2 GTSR Maloo. I’ve got my wn2 caprice but damn ain’t no one got $100-200k.

354rwkw +15%(53.1)assumed manual driveline loss according to internet experts=407 fwkw as per badge. Usually they overinflate the numbers, but seems to be a good rule of thumb.
Wow awesome car!! I drove an sv6 rental in '08 from Cairns to Sydney. You dont have these cars in the Netherlans. Wish i could import one😉

HSV Commodore is much better than C63 and RS6 for fact of being only one offered with manual and rear wheel drive in this bodystyle. RS6 understeers just like all other audis do and Mercedes is singlehandedly responsible for making manuals seem like transmission for the poor, effectively eradicating it as their competitors followed suit including BMW.
I got maaloo in black and red clubsport automatic I would never change for anything else soon as I have bad day I come home for work am driving diesel van I jump in one of them put windows down and step on and day becomes perfect until one day I got done and 6 months suspended driving licence

A wagon wouldn't weigh 200kg more than a sedan given they are the same wheelbase and have two extra windows and no rear firewall.
They definitely fit three kids, mum and dad and a dog under one of the kids feet.
1916kg according to a Google search on this model wagon.

I honestly believe that.. (6L80E) is good but this is on another level.
