    Your video came up on my home page today, months after the season has ended, and it was so nostalgic to look back and remember last summer. You may not remember me, but I lived across the hall from you when I moved in, and you and your group of friends included me on my very first night there for a HSMTM watch party. I was so intimidated and nervous about being there, and you guys made me feel so welcomed. It's unfortunate our friendship didn't continue to grow throughout the summer, but your kindness and open heart meant so so much to me that day. Thanks again, and I hope you're doing well!

      AWWWW hi Kayla! Of course I remember you! Thanks so much for the sweet comment - made my day. That was such a fun night and I hope you enjoyed your summer even though we didn’t end up seeing each other much after that. I hope you’re doing well!!

    Best "LIFE" video I've ever seen. A professional production company could not have done better. This will always be such a special time and part in your life, so much so that if someone was to one day get an organ from you it would definitely affect their life... fir the better 🤗

    this video reminds me of my summer in glacier, so nostalgic and happy. love how you were able to capture special moments that you'll be able to look back on forever. my bf and i are planning to work here this upcoming summer and ive already made note of the cliff jumping hike and sunset spots. can you recommend any more hikes or lovely places that left you in awe? also, what company did you work for?

    • @ErinOLaughlin_

      So awesome that you spent a summer in Glacier! Such a beautiful park. I worked for Grand Teton Lodge Company at Jackson Lake Lodge. I think my top places in the Tetons are Swim Beach in Colter Bay for bonfires and sunsets, Phelps Lake (that’s where the cliff jump spot is, and I just think it’s a unique and fun hike), Delta Lake (teal water), Cascade Canyon, Taggart Lake, String Lake (shallow and fun to swim/paddle board in), and Amphitheater Lake (super secluded and serene). There are so many lakes in the Tetons and they are all so worth seeing. Also, I am very passionate about the Thai food in and around Jackson, and Teton Thai in the village is definitely my favorite of the five or so places!

    I'm a sophomore in college looking to work at Tetons with my friends this summer! What's the best lodging for staff and do you get to choose where you live?

    • @ErinOLaughlin_
      @ErinOLaughlin_  2 года назад

      Exciting! If you’re talking about Jackson Lake Lodge specifically, you don’t get to choose where you live, unless you want to be in the all-girls dorm. They’re all pretty much the same. There are couples housing options and stuff that are nicer and stuff like that, but not for college students haha.
      But if you’re also considering places like Colter Bay, I know their housing is different. If you look on the GTLC employee website, they have pictures of the dorms at each location!

    what company did you work for? can you give me a rundown of your experience? I am planning on applying and going for the summer with my boyfriend. I have talked to a few others who have said that so’s can get a room with one big bed.. is that true? how much time do you really get to spend exploring in average per week? did you end up making any money after expenses and travel? please let me know!

    • @ErinOLaughlin_
      @ErinOLaughlin_  2 года назад

      I worked for Grand Teton Lodge Company. There is couple’s housing, but I’m not sure if it’s guaranteed that you would get it or not… couple’s housing has one bed and shares a bathroom with one other couple I think, but I also knew some younger couples who were in normal housing and just pushed the two twin beds together.
      You get a decent amount of time to explore. Depending on what job you have, you could just work 8-4 or something and then have the rest of the evening off (and you also get two days off every week). I worked in the restaurant, though, so my hours were more random.
      I made a decent amount of money! With housing and food being so cheap, you don’t really end up spending much at all while you’re there.
      I noticed you requested me on Instagram, and I’m happy to go into more detail there if you want!

      I left early August to go back to college, and many other employees did too. I would just mention your availability during your interview because I think they would better understand which role you could fulfill.

      Thank you! Most people go by themselves, and you would have an incredibly easy time making friends. Everyone is super friendly, inclusive, and accepting. Even during the first day of my job I was invited with a group to go into town for dinner.
      I worked as a server assistant in the Mural Room, and I enjoyed it! I had friends who were dishwashers. If you want to hear their opinions on it, feel free to message me on Instagram, and I can pass on their info!

    • @ErinOLaughlin_
      @ErinOLaughlin_  Год назад

      Hey!! That’s so exciting. The first thing I can think of is just to go into it with the understanding that the job probably won’t always be the most fun, but the experience and the people you come across will make it worth it. Sometimes you might need to remind yourself of this haha because I know I definitely lost sight of that for a while and regret it now! I miss that summer all the time and only remember the positives now :)

    • @ErinOLaughlin_

      Hi, Rolfy! I feel like in general I’d say to take advantage of the experience as much as possible by getting to know all kinds of different people. Also be sure to do the Phelps Lake hike with the cliff jumping and have bonfires at Swim Beach in Colter Bay at sunset. I’d be happy to give you more specific advice… just let me know if you have any questions! You can also dm me on Instagram @erin.olaughlin and I could connect you with other people who were housekeepers/from the Dominican Republic, etc. :)
