Nice and useful video ! It seems that at 18 minutes you accidently ungrouped your drums tracks and edited the whole project tracks (the split affects all the tracks instead of only the drums). To make gates sounds more natural (especially when there is a lot of cymbals in the recording), I sometimes tend to set the dry/wet between 90 and 95%, to keep a little bit of bleeding. For editing itself, I like when possible to edit by sections of fews bars rather than on a hit by hit basis, keeping a bit of the feeling of the drummler (sometimes it is better to keep the kick rushing and the snare dragging a bit, for example).
Thanks for uploading this! I’m new to reaper and have some modest goals for music production. I primarily want to be able to take the drum tracks my band gets at a studio and edit them for timing and clean out a little of the mud (just like you demonstrated here). Secondary goals are to record legit guitar, bass and vocals at my house. Practical/real world example videos like this are a huge help and make this seem achievable. Cheers!
Hi Myk. First of all, thanks for all your dedication to the Reaper community. I went through your drum editing course and it helped me a lot. One thing I wanted to ask you is this: is it advisable to glue all items once editing is done? Is it better to just render to a new track? Any advice on how to handle the finished edited track items? Thanks.
Hmmm... Using the new fixed item lanes and swipe comping method, I just hide the source lanes and leave the comp lane "as is." There's nothing wrong with gluing the tracks to make them one contiguous item but I usually just lock them to prevent accidental movement but allow me to unlock it I hear something later that I may have missed during my editing.

I like to make the waveforms bigger when editing ,but i will say i have yet to line drums up to the grid and thanks for showing , it is awfully time consuming
hmmm... what version of REAPER are you running? This is a stock action that best i can recall has been in there for quite some time. In the actions list, if you filter for 'silence" you don't see it? It does get faster with practice, and particularly if you work in large sections instead of cutting every single note
