Those radios don't need to warm up...they are fully transistor. It powers on by just turning the volume control clockwise from the off position it was originally in. Pushing the volume knob in manually changes the "program" when playing a tape. So, even though it came on, if the problem persists, it needs restoration. If you have it restored, be sure the repair person restores it vs modernizing the electronics and ruining the quadraphonic capabilities of the tape player as there is at least one radio restoration person out there who sometimes does this. The quadraphonic capabilities are what makes it extra special as it plays both normal stereo tapes and the special quadraphonic ones that are surround sound. A bluetooth receiver wired into the preamp, direct inputs, and preamp outputs can always be done in a modification without changing original electronics.
