Hi Rome, Thanks for checking out my video. So far I've used the Tascam during every shoot since I've bought it, and I love it! I just found about the the zoom h6 myself. If you get it when it's released, please let me know your thoughts. It looks like a really well made recorder. -Jonathan Samson
I was recently working on a set where the Audio guy was using a very high end field recorder that sells in the price range of $5000. With the exception of being able to run Time Code and a few more pres this thing had everything it had. Including more practical useable outputs. This blows the little hand held recorders out too. Zooms included!
Hi Federico, I'm truly sorry for my delayed response. I've been working on a project, and haven't been able to check RUclips much. I don't know very much about the Zoom H4N, but I can tell you that the Rode NTG-2 should be an excellent fit with the DR-60d. The first part of this video was shot with the microphone on camera, which was about 8 feet away. I had the gain set to high and the level about 1/4. If you have a boom you can put above the talent, it should provide even better audio.
Sometimes I mount it on top or bottom of my cam. Sometimes I mount it to the side. sometimes I strap it to my arm if I am running a hand held boom and send the signal back to my cam via the camera out or the line out. I just can't say enough about how great this rig is!
(IF) there is a drawback to this recorder it may be is size. It is a little bulkier than we have been conditioned to expect because of working with units like the Juiced link stuff. However, I LOVE my DR-60!! It absolutely blows anything else like it out of the water, even if it were to cost more than it does. It's the Greatest thing yet for DSLR users!
I have used Tascam for many years this little piece of equipment looks nice although a bit bulkier then I would like. Configuring a sound bag with receivers are going to be a bit challenging. I haven't found one for this unit.
Hi, good review but I am not good at audio and I need some help. I am using the Tascam to record video panels where we have up to four speakers. To accomplish that, I plug to cables on channels 1 and 2, each of those go to an AKG receiver where I plug four lavalier mics, two per AKG. Each speaker has its own lavalier but they share one AKG. I am finding almost impossible to make both channels have the same audio quality. One usually is very low and the level for one of the channels, CH1, does not make any difference, only I can increase it on CH2. Even with both levels at cero (all the way to the left) I still can hear audio coming in from channel 2. Hope this make sense. Any ideas?
Thanks for your detailed review. I'd ask you how you'd see this device paired with a Rode NTG2 mic. At the moment I use a Zoom H4N recorder and while things work fine during indoor recordings, when I can talk very close to the mic, I'm experiencing some drawbacks outdoor, with the signal being sometimes too low (I use phantom power, of course). I read on several forum it's because of the quite poor preamps of the Zoom. Do you think it's worth the upgrade from Zoom h4 to this Tascam?
What's setting you use in the tascam for record, beacause my recording are always low. The sound quality of your video are very good. I think you use the NTG1 that you show on your unboxing ntg1 and tascam dr60d
It really depends on what you need, from what I can tell both are equally capable of providing excellent audio. For me it made sense to go with this form factor because I was only going to use external microphones. The form factor was also important because I was using it with a DSLR video rig.
Thank you for taking the time to get back to me, appreciate it. I will mainly be using external mics with a DSLR camera so i will go for this, thanks again for taking the time to reply. All the best
hey CinAp Productions, im having some troubleshooting with my tascam. whenever i hear it in my computer the audio is low also when i play it on the tascam itself its low volume, but whenever im recording audio it sounds loud through the headphones what can i do to higher the volume whenever i want to play the audio that i recorded on either my tascam or the computer?
Ignore the apparent volume on your headphones. It comes from the volume control for the headphones or "monitor." Focus on the LEVELS, which you can see dancing on the screen. Set them as high as possible without clipping at what will be the loudest points. "level check." Be sure you have the right type of input selected: (mic/line/phantom). Good luck!
Hi, Yes, the Tascam DR-60D has a power supply that can be purchased separately. www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/778094-REG/Tascam_PS_P515U_PS_P515U_AC_to_USB.html It just adapts a USB cable to AC power.
With the level change test at 14:33 I couldn't hear any clicks or 'phasing' at all. I think the people on that forum are out of subjects to moan about. :-p
I could never hear it either, but other reviewers and people that have used it say it happens. Maybe I just got lucky and got one that didn't have the issue, but I doubt it. I tend to agree with you that people just need something to nitpick. For the most part, people using this device would never notice something so minor.
I forgot to mention, thanks for re-posting my video on your Facebook page! I greatly appreciate it.

Thank you so much for your feed-back, it was precious. I will then consider my upgrade from Zoom to this Tascam recorder!

Great review. Maybe some some detailed close up shots? What is the battery life?

Hi! Thanks for great vreview.
Can I listen this device from USB? I want to use it as a sound card or audio interface for recording to my PC.
Cool I'm thinking to
Buy one how is the sound

What is a good SD card to use in the DR60 ?
Is this a better option than the H4N for making a movie? Thank you :-)

It doesn't stop at the File Size limit, it just creates a new file.
great review. i wish i had one :-(
you said you have the unit that plugs into the wall?? has a power supply rather than you using batt???

***** Hi Mick, could I ask what setting you have your gain at (low, mid, high)? Thanks in advance!

CinAp Productions Maybe if you connect an oscilloscope to it something might show up but if you can't hear it it's not a problem in my opinion ;)
nice
Dude it Tas-Cam not Taz-cam. They are also not phantom microphone options they are real options but for phantom power or no power!
2:15 ???..... O_o lol.
