Foam Crafting a Spawn Mask

- How about another repurposing of the helmet base I used to make the Mr. Knight and Deadpool masks? Something straight from the 90's, aiming to tickle your nostalgia with a flair of fire, THE ONE himself, Spawn. For this build, I used: 4 mm and 6 mm EVA foam, sheer fabric for the eyes, contact cement, Mod Podge, super glue, Plasti Dip, and some Plaid FX acrylic paints. You may also need the following tools: a heat gun, a Dremel with various bits, and an Exacto knife or box cutter. My older brother and me were into comic books when we were younger. Spawn always stood out from the rest. Just a little darker and grittier

An awesome mask this is , the mr knight template sure is usefull and great as a base for multiple characters , like spiderman, power rangers and other similar ones

The effects may not hold up but it is the only spawn we got so Go spawn. I like all the crazy textures you went with on it.

@@tomasurreta8530 I just made it up. Keeping in mind how striations would be on the muscle under the skin could help.

Awesome mask Thomas, but now you need to make John liguisimos clown mask from the same movie...
That one would be a little harder to tackle. Definitely would have to use different materials since his face moves

too bad their budget ran out during the movie and it got pushed to pg 13. now seeing moonk night i want a new spawn movie even more. cool to see on what details of the face you focused and doing it out of foam is a bold choice since the original is some urethan or so...turned out awesome! i really like it. i'm sure you have some other ideas already on how to turn your base mask into another character. much props!!!

how do you put the cloth in the eyes without the super glue seeping through and fusing to your fingers?
It does. I just move quick and peel it off later. You can feel it getting wet. You could also cut out a frame to glue it to then glue that in if you are struggling. Or even use a low temp hot glue gun instead
you said sheer material, what exactly did you use for the eyes?
Sheer chiffon fabric. I painted over it with yellow and green acrylic paint
How long does the mod podge need to dry before adding the Plasti dip?
Depends on how thick you layer it. With each pass I would give it a couple hours. Everything needs to be fully translucent before moving on and not stick to the touch

So i have a new ish project that you might like to try, just because it combines what you're used to doing with something maybe you haven't tried...
What if you built a Chewbacca helmet, with an EVA base and the hair and everything?! This might be too involving for the one and done video posts you do. But it certainly would be something kinda different. Just a thought.
Thanks for the suggestion. While I have though about a Chebacca before, I put it off simply because I would have to work out his jaw hinging and laying the fur down just right. It would be a monster to tackle. I might visit that idea when I have a little more time on my hands. Summer is quickly upon us.

So many possibilities. A good base pattern like this one can be stretched across a lot of different heroes/villains.

Maybe it can, but in your print settings make sure you are printing actual size not print to page. My templates are taped to a 11 inch by 8.5 inch sheet of paper, which is not the dimensions of an A4
