    Had the Toyota version of the Swace as a rental car for a month’s touring holiday in Norway in June/July 2022 - drove from Bergen to North Cape and back (2000’ish miles with some serious uphills and downhill regen!) and it averaged 70mpg easily over the 28 days we had it. I had originally booked an ID3 for the drive but the rental company “upgraded” me to the Toyota as they had no EVs left in their garage at Bergen Airport

      It’s insane how such a large car can be so frugal, other manufacturers should take note 👍

    Grabbed a Swace off the back of your last video. The leasing company didn’t honour the original price but it only went up £15 a month and still suits my budget. Arriving in time for the new job, will use your ALA code when it arrives. Thanks for your videos Jim, hope the eye gets better soon!

      If I was in the market for another lease I would be really tempted. I like the look of them and the Corolla. When you factor in all it's strengths it's just such a good all rounder.

    Evening...... just wondering if a video is on the way regarding the EU taxation on Chinese cars is on the way. Interesting to see the outcome but I have a horrible feeling that without the cheaper Chinese imports keeping European manufacturers honest they will seize the opportunity to start to push the prices back up in the coming year

      We went with Andersen as the box is neat and keeps the cable tidy. As we’ve gone for two EV’s, also needed the longer cable to reach both bays. Worth considering the total cost including installation to your property. With Andersen, I submitted a number of photos with a questionnaire so the price was locked in when we ordered.

      What was the price out of interest? Andersen is a premium product so would expect it to be higher priced than some options.

    I appreciate your self-effacing humour at the start.
    I hear the PureTech engines can be problematic if you're not very diligent in keeping an eye on the timing belt on the wet-belt system which causes it to fragment and gunk up the engine.
    Although, less of an issue with a shorter lease.

    • @DefinitelyNotAGuru
      @DefinitelyNotAGuru  3 месяца назад +1

      Thanks ;) Under a 3 years lease with full manufacturers warranty I would say it shouldn't be a concearn. If you're buying a 10 year old one without service history it should be.

      And you’ll be given another one if it is? Everyone seems to be an expert on wet belt engines now after a couple of RUclips videos; their diesels are far worse than the petrols. If the petrols are serviced with the correct oil and the belt changes when it should be they’re very reliable. Look to Ford if you want to see a bad example of a wet belt engine.

    • @jdmguy44
      @jdmguy44 3 месяца назад

      They've made modifications to them in more recent years so much less of a problem than in older cars. Using the correct oil is important and renewing it on time (or ahead of schedule ideally) as well as changing the belt prematurely should avoid any issues. It didn't put me off leasing a new Pug. 2008 six months ago. They're genuinely great little engines to use.
