I think Flower stand, maybe adding “self serve” will help make it clearer.

I'm from Maryland USA - I loved that you named your box "HONESTY BOX". I always thought it was for your cash and not the name of your stand. How about if you just label the cash box "Honesty Box" because that's what you want to happen. People buying bouquets and being honest and putting the correct amount of cash into your box. Then refer to your stand as a flower shed?? We have lots of produce and flower stands north of us in Pennsylvania where we have a lot of Amish people selling from their stands unattended.

    American here 🙋‍♀️
When I first started watching your videos I didn’t know what you were referring to when you said “honesty box” but when I figured it out I thought it was such a sweet term. I think you should keep calling it that. Here, I’d say most people would call it a flower farm stand with the honor system.

Sucks that people aren’t always honest. I had bouquets go missing three weekends in a row with my flower cart before I got a camera. Haven’t had any issues since then. Definitely recommend it!

U.S. here, so flower stand or farmstand. For payments, a locking metal box that's bolted to the stand is usually called an "honor box".

I really love your videos Sarah. I take particular note of your advice, because your growing conditions in Yorkshire are not so very different from mine in south west Scotland. Also, your flowers are absolutely stunning! There are some excellent videos from our flower farmer colleagues across the pond, but their climate is so different to ours. They don’t have such wet winters usually I think. Mind you, they have a lot to deal with that we don’t. I’m so thankful that gophers aren’t a problem where I am! I would be delighted if you made a video about zinnias. I bought a lot of zinnia seeds last year and didn’t get round to sowing them and I’m planning to give them a go next year. I’m astonished that you manage to grow all your flower crops without support netting. I can’t do that. I’m fairly sheltered where I’m growing, but when it is windy my crops get damaged in no time. You take care of your back. I’ve learned the hard way to be kind to mine! I now avoid lifting heavy objects, even if it means decanting half a sack of compost or poultry feed into a tubtrug and moving it in two stages!

So sorry to hear you are having back pain. That is the worse. I do massage and low back pain almost always comes from hamstrings and itband(back of legs and hips) stretch your legs and have someone help massage your legs and hips. It will release the si joint in the low back and help with sciatica. Hope that helps. I love your channel and your flowers. Keep healing so you can make amazing bouquets.
Also raised beds could help in the future. ❤❤

Hi Sarah I'm so sorry your back is still hurting. They say you have to work on your core and keep the back conditioned. I'm 66 with a bad back and I have to sit to weed. I find trimming really is the angel that kills me along with doing dishes. LOL. Anyway, I think in the USA we call the stands" flower stands." If you plan on selling vegies we call it a farmers stand and just state flowers and vegies. I really would love the name of the light pink zinnias you just showed. I love the color. Hope all goes well.

As a Canadian, I would say it is a flower stand with an honesty box.The honesty box is where the money goes. The stand is where the flowers are. Also, from a marketing point of view, if you tell someone you have an honesty box, it is not clear what you are selling, it should be clear. I personally have a roadside flower wagon which has an honesty box attached to the side, where the money goes.

Here in NZ we call it honesty box too. Unfortunately not all are honest, so it's put me off trying it. Great price for your bouquets 💐

What I really love about your bouquets is how you use what's in season to pull together really colourful, playful bouquets. They're beautiful and really uplifting to look at. I hope your flower shed is successful now that it's open again, and that your back pain resolves itself, it sounds like you're being cautious with the heavy lifting and weeding tasks which is a good thing.

I think "Flower Stand" or "Flower Cart" makes it pretty clear to the average person it is a stand selling flowers.
"Farm Stand" sets the tone that it is vegetables and such.
Self-serve Stand I think is more used as verbiage rather than an honesty box here in the US.

  • @jennablorezone8Band9A

Flower Shed is proper name for flower sale location of what it is. The ‘Honesty Box’ is the cash box that is bolted down or the IPAD that is bolted down to accept credit/debit cards.
Honestly box in the USA is just a payment term for honest customers to leave the payment.

The compost turning probably did do you the damage..with all the farm equipment you have manually turning is a bit mad 😁 I did something to my back last year and it is very scary, totally made me reevaluate how I work in the garden, lots of sitting down now. Flower shed sounds good.

I called mine, my business name (which is a flower farm) and under it I wrote “Self Server Farm Stand” or you could do “Self Serve Flower Farm Stand.” I had an explanation board on the side that talked about how it being on your honor, to pay, and enjoy making your own bouquet (this was just different color peony flowers.) People really loved picking their own and leaving without small talk. Next year I want a small walk in cooler, with this other stand next to it and hoping for annual stems too. Good luck! Hope your year continues to be great!

Hi. Sorry to hear your back is hindering your progress. As a long time bad back sufferer I found out about fascia (pronounced fash-i-a). This is a connective tissue that gets 'stuck' and pulls muscles and bones out, causing pain. I found a good massage therapist who understands fascia release and I have never had a bad back since. I go and see her every 3 months and touch wood, no issues.

In Sweden, where I live, it is soon to be autumn vibes. Here we can buy, for me, new things, that I would like to see how you grow: SNAP-DRAGONS, STOCKS, ZINNIAS and COSMOS. These have not been common flowers to grow in the middle of Sweden, in the old days. We usually grew flowers like marigolds, daisies, cornflowers, sweet peas and soapy-carnations, for example. Most of my cut flowers are perennials. Our summer is short, from 1th of June to 1th of September, only 4 months! We have had lots of rain now for weeks, thunder storms and the days are getting shorter now. We also have roe deers in our garden from time to time, chewing on everything they see, and then spitting out most of the chewed flowers on the grass. It is a challenge, but I really like it!
