I would encourage anyone who lives in the country, on a dirt road to start a flower farm business. We are in this extact situation ( not a flower farm, but an ag business) and if you market your product they'll come and find you. People LOVE to come into the country. Yes, our dirt road gets full of pot holes, cars get filthy when it rains, but it doesn't hurt our business. Our customers are very loyal.

I totally agree with everything you say! I live in the country. The closest city is 50 miles away. This is my first year and I have had people come out weekly to pick flowers!
Thank you so much! This totally transformed my flower stand mentality. I am about to start this year and was thinking of putting out maybe 4 at a time but now I see the value of making their visit a fun and memorable experience, not just what is most practical for me. I still won't have the capacity to have 15 out at a time but now I have dreams for making my flower stand a beautiful presentation and not just a few bouquets on a coffee table!
I have had a flower stand for 3 years now and it’s funny to hear you talk about all the problems I have run into over time. I’ve been on the fence about continuing with the stand but I think I will take some of your advice try again this year. Weather challenges and amount of flowers have been my biggest issues so far. (And people wanting their specific times to pick up their flowers, being late etc 😞)
We just got done with our first year road stand. I have big plans of going from one acre to three of zinnias. We have been doing flowers for 3 years just for the view off our back porch and the stand was just a fun idea. We did a “take what you want, leave what you can” sign and did about 2-5 bouquets per day (ran it every day) I really like the one day approach to drive a sense of urgency and streamlining the bouquet process. I was always putting out new ones each day and leaving them out overnight each day. What Facebook groups are you referencing?? Great tips!
00:59: Good sign! I walk through maker’s markets and am always stunned that I don't see item prices. That is one quick way to get me to stop and look. It immediately answers my first question: "Do they have items in my price range?”
I am starting a flower farm as a business. I have grown many varieties of flowers as well as herbs veggies, and gourds. I am now putting together the new garden and in the process of planting flower seeds. I've watched your videos and some others about how to get started. I'm familiar with the growing aspect, and just learning about shortcuts and productive common sense ways to do this. Thanks for your very helpful videos!

Great video! In terms of your payment ipad, do you lock your ipad or stand to your cart? Last year we had a fair amount of theft at our stand, so we installed a camera and that pretty much took care of it. But I’d be a bit hesitant to put an ipad and square stand out there (even with a camera) due to our issues in the past.
The iPad is in a holder that is locked together and that is locked to the stand so unless they saw it off its going anywhere. But also we are around a lot during our stand days and aren’t open all day so theft is very low

Awesome video, you are a natural teacher. As a living, Is it really worth it for $800-$1k a week? If you work 40 hours that’s $25/hr for your time without cost of good sold , is this more a hobby vs a way to make a living?
Thank you :) I think flower farms have to sell $100k+ to replace a full time income but it is definitely possible to do and there are many farms profiting six figures as well. That kind of farm takes several years to build so that is where we are at in the process. This year we should double our sales from last year and continue to work toward that goal.
@@CoramDeoFarm that is good perspective. I just bought a historic farmhouse on a busy road in Roswell, GA and I’m thinking of doing a flower farm and have a stand for free range eggs and flowers.
