    A little about Ed….
Ed is an elite cyclist, 2019 British Hill Climb Champion and former Under 23 British RR Champion. He has raced as a Continental level Professional Rider for one of the most successful British cycling teams in Japan, Korea, Australia, Canada, Azerbaijan to name a few. He is also a public speaker, coach, and founded the on/offline cycling community, Backpedal. At the start of 2021, the Discord community began, and plonked many of Ed's viewers in to a 550+ strong group of people that had many things in common. Not least wanting to explore the world and pedal their bikes faster!
Ed coaches lots of cyclists in the online community too! If you are interested, email [laverackcoaching@yahoo.com] for information on the 1-2-1 coaching package and training plans, of which there are many and flexible options to suit everyone!
Ed now prioritises having fun with my hard earned fitness and knowledge in the sport. Showcasing that maybe there is an alternative to racing for teams when you can race for yourself and your community of followers and brands. This RUclips channel is a docu-series highlighting what it’s like to be a cyclist in today’s competitive age of sport.

Mon Ventoux a dangerous mtn. 1st time i went up there was a collar of cloud around the summit in late September. Temp in Bedoin ok. Going up was ok. Coming down a cold nightmare.

Ventoux was my first mountain climb 😁
It became an addiction, almost a spiritual experience.
Completed the triple in 2017 but would never, ever attempt that again 😁

I wish the Mont Ventoux Challenge was on Eurosport.

Flat sections on steep hills are my worst nightmare, the power level drops dramatically and the effort and pain levels increase. Indoors I spin the resistance out, far higher than on the road. 👍

You can get used to it with training. I had the same feeling at first.

See Dan Bingham hour record for heat mgmt. He used one of those paint / DIY protection suits ( lighter and less washing than layers) to train in.

I'm doing the three routes up Mont Ventoux in July. I think I'd better start training. I'll start with a hot bath and take it from there. Thanks for your advice, particularly about hydration and nutrition.

I started as early as possible doing the three ways up. I think it was at 5:30 am and I finished at 6. It was July as well and it was hot, very hot.

My moving time was 8:15, my fitness would be classed as 'average' in most respects. The two harder ascents taking a little over 2hrs each.
Absolutely, an early start is key but the weather gods can make an already difficult day into a nigh-on impossibility.
On our first visit in 2010 the mistral was blowing hard at the top, just staying upright was a real effort.

@@davess61 No wind when I did it, wish I had a little as it was around 32c at 8am. Same time as you but I had a longer lunch break at Sault to just cool my core down. I probably do it again but start with Malacene instead as from 11am onwards there was no shade up.

I'm sure you have it but if needed I can link the study about heat training with the detailed protocol. First session felt very unpleasant - lol

What you expecting temperature to be ? About 10 degrees currently

That sounds like an ideal temp!

ED: You don't have to use STYRKR, there's loads of cheaper options.
    STYRKR: :/

    • @edlaverack
      @edlaverack  Месяц назад

That’s not how it works. Styrkr will be the first to say that on the bike nutrition should really be there to supplement your hardest sessions and never fully replace REAL food. Everything in moderation🫡
