She is literally one of the most attractive women I’ve ever seen in my whole life. Not to freakin mention that voice! Like oh my gosh! She’s a true performer! There is not a dull second wherever she’s singing!
I am absolutely convinced that if I had been in just the right place at just the right time we could have met and I would have ... totally blown it and said not a blessed word while I stood there and watched her breathe...
Possibly one of the best interviews she's ever conducted. He comes across as totally enamored with her and she wraps him around her little finger. Terrific clip! Thanks for posting.
Just the opposite. I have never heard anyone who has worked with her say she is "high maintenance". She is level-headed, down to earth, approachable, a team player and a good company member even if her name is above the title. Her reputation is impeccable.
From internal evidence (the fact of Carson's engagement and the song she performed), this appears to be her Jun 17, 1987, appearance (see IMDb). She would have been 30 and Johnny would have been 61.
In Pink Cadillac, she gets told, "Your name's probably Bonnie Sue." That would actually be very appropriate, as she does seem to be America's answer to Bonnie Langford.
@@jacksonurenmusic Yes, It was her choice no doubt. Still terrible, though she’s a remarkable talent. Saw her in Mack & Mabel, Song & Dance, Sunday in the Park, Annie Get Your Gun etc. Respectfully.
So eighties! So over-the-top almost ridiculous performance! I love her and it was great, but looking back ... was it cocaine fueled? LOL sorry ... it WAS the eighties!
Johnny: This is none of my business but-
Bernadette: Then don't ask me.

I first fell in love with her talent when she played the witch in Into the Woods. She knockedb it out of the park. And that voice...need I say more?
@A.D. why do you need to ask? Can only certain people appreciate beauty?
Maybe Laura appreciates beauty and is comfortable enough with her sexuality to notice another woman being attractive or maybe she’s gay? Get a grip
She was and still is beautiful. She always seemed to wear her heart on her sleeve!!
Everything about this clip is just so great.
I am absolutely convinced that if I had been in just the right place at just the right time we could have met and I would have ... totally blown it and said not a blessed word while I stood there and watched her breathe...
Haha... me too man, me too.

She is an amazing talent! How did she never make a live action movie about Betty Boop? She could totally do it.
He asked her an indiscreet and sexist question and omg she shut him down like only a queen can! Love you Bernadette
Danae Kolyva I've never seen Johnny speechless like that!
Actually, I thought that she was quite rude . . . it was just a casual comment meant to get the conversation going.
@@QuasarRedshift So sad no one taught you the difference between a conversation starter and sexism.
@@thirtythreeflavors up yours
@@QuasarRedshift Exactly.
I remember watching this when I was 14. 1:15 is the exact moment that I hit puberty. Or rather, it hit me.
I loved all those curls from the Song and Dance era!
She is very animated. I love Bernadette Peters.
Terrific clip. Love this lady. Totally.
she went from interviewed to interviewer..
'Just give me a mic bruh. I got this.'
fantastic performer
i love what she's wearing
Look at that big 80s hair and those enormous, baggy pants!
That outfit was so smart then... lol. The top didn’t age bad.
Really? I couldn't pull my eyes off her gorgeous natural twins and her sexy underbite mouth belting out the vocal.
GENIUS!
Ohh isn't she just lovely!
I met Bernadette Peters backstage of the Kennedy Center for FOLLIES!
I swear this woman doesn't age!
OMG she OOZES high maintenance. Love ya Bernadette, Thanks for keeping me entertained.

Ya, wrong! She's never been in the news frivolously. Ever see her in the tabloids acting foolishly? No she's a serious, trained singer.
Yesssss what a legend turning that sexist question on him!!!
Your estro-screechery is amusing lols - "SEXIST!!" - lols
awesome clip

Man, B really got his number
So she was 39 here? Someone below said it was from 1987. Very pretty and cute at the same time.
From internal evidence (the fact of Carson's engagement and the song she performed), this appears to be her Jun 17, 1987, appearance (see IMDb). She would have been 30 and Johnny would have been 61.
Bernadette definitely made the underbite the hottest thing that very few women can pull off! 😍
1987.

Does anyone know what year this was?
I’m pretty sure it’s 1987

Wow that's dumb.
Ever been to a Broadway show?
It was nostalgic of a vaudeville act from the 20s. So classic.
Less is more, Ms. Peters.
Take your own advice.
It's a Broadway number. Ever been to a Broadway show?
