As time goes by regardless of what era or generation which passes, there's something beyond extraordinary for that time. Whether it was the Beatles in pop music, Tom Brady, Michael Jordan, Muhammed Ali in Sports, etc. When it comes to Lion coalitions, it is the 6 Mapogos; Legends beyond compare. Of course Majingilani fans would disagree, an 8 year rein is unheard of in the Lion world. Opinions will always vary from one to another. For me I'm sticking with the Mapogos as the true G.O.A.T of Lions coalitions.
Plus the notch coalition
Matimbas kings from 2010-2021 (11 year reign) plus have their own successful sons like the 2 Mbiri, 2 Scorro, junior matimba before he passed last year and 1 of the Nsemani males
@@toby2082 I’m a huge Mapogo fan. I’ve been interested in their story for years, but honestly there have probably been more successful coalitions. The Notch coalition actually controlled more land than the Mapogos did at their peak and I believe they sired many more cubs and have males that are still around today I believe. I didn’t know that the Matimbas were around for that long. I don’t know…the Mapogos just have such an interesting story. And there’s so much more information and discussion out there about them. They really have a cult following. They actually got really unlucky in 2010 when Kinky Tail was killed, Rasta disappeared/was killed and Dreadlocks was almost certainly poached. They went from five lions pretty much in their prime and an aging Makhulu down to just Pretty Boy, Mr. T and the aging Makhulu in the span of only 6 months.

They all had their place, but my favorites were Makhulu and Dreadlocks. There most likely never would even been a Mapogo coalition without Makhulu. He was the definition of the alpha male. A great big brother/father figure to the other 5. Also, from what I’ve read, the rangers gave him credit for 10 1 vs 1 male lion fights or kills over the course of his life. Dreadlocks was a tank and Makhulu’s second in command. I believe he was being groomed to take over as leader of the coalition since Makhulu was aging and needed an heir. He already was stepping in as leader while Makhulu would go out on patrols. His nicknames were The Beast and Buffalo Killer because he was known to take down buffaloes by himself, which is no small task. Also, from what I read he was never challenged to a fight by another lion. Basically every other lion was scared of him.

Each member of the Mapogo coalition was a force of nature individually, and together there was just something special about them. There have been coalitions since the Mapogo that have had longer, more successful reigns, but they aren't remembered as legends like the Mapogo.
lol I can’t stop but to noticed the strangest presence out of all the lions was kinky Tail. He looks mad as if he was ready for anything and always looking for a fight. His face speaking to you he was saying bring it.

I highly recommend getting 'Savage Kingdom' absolutely sensational & of course educational. More than likely it's probably the reason why I have the stomach to do what I do now!? Looking at how beautiful they were made wish I could have hugged them like I do my dog. I know that wouldn't have been possible but seeing them in a peaceful state in your mind you think they're harmless. Poachers should get the death penalty for killing any of beautiful animals in Africa or anywhere else.

Fantastic music/video.....I have no problem saying Mak was the greatest leader of the greatest coalition ever.......but my favorite was the incomparable Mr.T.....fought more/moved around more/loyal as all of them were/defended his brothers and territory.....yes T and KT were definitely my favorites(the youngest they were and inseparable) Every lion in this G.O.A.T. coalition was a purebred battlecat......absolutely love watching their videos when I can find time........don't come at me the majingilane BS about ruling longer, T/KT pushed them around time and time again until they caught KT alone and 4 on 1'ed him.....this is lion behavior...........they(majingi's) ruled as long as they did because coast was clear from Mapogo beatdowns/killings thru the years.....also when KT died Mr.T was darted, because no way KT goes alone in that fight..........the lions were becoming to big of rock stars and killing the other lions so they(humans)stopped them..........done a lot of research and this is what I believe until absolute proof is brought about they didn't.....there are no videos except KT being 4 on 1'ed till his death.....Mapogos>Majingilanes to me

Absolutely true. Not buying that T wasn't around while KT was fighting 4 lions. Like l said many years ago, it took some time to get over being sedated. The Mlowathi were invincible for two lions. Plus they had their 4 brothers to the west for back up if need be. Unfortunately humans interfered again with Dreadlock and Rasta two more battle tanks in the Mapogo arsenal. No lion bones close to the greatness of Mackulu . There's only one non Mapogo that l respect and a big fan ;and that is Matimba Hairy belly who to me is an honorary Mapogo..

Absolutely true. Anyone who knows the Mapogos know that KT and T were practically inseparable. It's hard for me to believe that while KT was fighting 4 lions T wasn't around. Not buying it. He was detained or should l say sedated..
That’s not makhulu he was not with them at this time,this was 2006 he was still with Sparta pride, the 5 brothers were nomadic from 2005 to 2007 then makhulu came in 2008

Don’t rely entirely on the documentary. It’s great in many ways, but unfortunately it also got a lot of things wrong. One being something as simple as the names of the lions. It said that Rasta and Dreadlocks were the same lion and Scar was a different lion altogether. Incorrect. Rasta and Dreadlocks were separate lions and Scar was simply a nickname for Dreadlocks.

Lol the Notch would wreck the Mapogos. Each of them was as big as Makhulu and Dreadlocks, and they had no weak links like the Mapogos had with Mr T. The Notch also MATED with their females instead of killing them and didn't kill each other's cubs.
