    "Not eating that frog" has been an absolute game changer for me 🐸🚫!! I now find myself sticking with tasks that I've been dreading for weeks throughout the second half of my day after building some positive momentum early on. I used to feel guilty for taking so much time for myself in the mornings to do all sorts of self care and then ruined everything by trying to do the most difficult thing first (I did actually read the book a few years back). Thank you so much for this insight, I really appreciate what you do on this channel!!

    I've found having a bullet journal really helps me to stay on track, stay productive, and to celebrate my small accomplishments and momentum.
    I CANNOT have any important conversations in my first 2 hours of my day. And I agree, be careful not to choose a sedentary activity like Facebook early in your morning. Anything that gets me in my head too much will eat up my entire day, if my energy or mood is low. It takes practice to choose me first in the morning.

    I also relate to Dan's "don't" swallow the frog" first thing. I have never understood that thinking and knew it would never work for me. Like Dan, I found that accomplishing a satisfying goal would set me up for many more goals, instead of facing a dreaded task looming over me in the morning.
    Good video, and I am going to take a look at Dan's other suggestions. I should get back to exercising, but with COVID, it's been a whole other thing. Still, I believe I'll go back to my Tai Ch'i routine.

    The whole get moving thing
    Man ... 2020 was a very stationary year ...
    I’ve got to get moving as part of a routine ... cos I’m getting my ass kicked by sedentarianism
    Extroverted intuition ... and not opening social media ... holy moly that’s a big one ...
    Ok ... social media is a cautionary tale
    Morning routines for moods and energy
    Remind myself of my why ...
    Write the to do list the night before ...
    Thanks bro ... this is huge
    Cheers

    Yes!! The first and only video about mornings and scheduling that makes a lick of sense for me 😁 It has taken the pandemic to make me realize how essential going out for breakfast always was, sometimes with a friend, sometimes not. But engaging with the world in a novel way first thing makes my brain work like nothing else can. I was in a tailspin for months until I figured out alternative solutions. Conversation, nature, movement...all essntial elements for daily success! This is incredibly validating! And I have long gone to bed reciting my to dos for the next day. Now I know that's really important too. Thanks so much! I'm so excited I discovered MBTI and your channel during this past year. It's all made an enormously positive impact in this insanely hard time.

    Thanks for articulating what I may already realize about myself. It's nice to have the structured advice made up of personal facts that are already floating around freely in my mind. Having another person who understands telling me these things leaves less room for those facts to get sucked into my lint trap and go the way of the missing sock. I needed this. As usual, excellent work. I know how hard it must be to even reach these conclusions and apply the information, so kudos. I would ask "how have you managed to get so good at this?" but that's what you're trying to tell me!

    I can not tell you how happy I am to have found your channel. I only started researching type recently and its helped me so much. Your advice on what to do in the mornings has led to me having the most productive week ever. I laughed at the not opening inboxes because it is so true, I can read a message saying "I've had a tough week, I'm super drained" from a friend, before I know it I've spent an hour ordering them vitamin D tablets and researching wellbeing statistics during the pandemic - actual recent example. So yeah, thank you!
    I've just added a reminder for each week to watch your morning routine video - I'm awful with routine, not because I cant be bothered, I just genuinely forget what I'm trying to be consistent with, hopefully I'll consistently watch you and that will be a reminder!

    I'm an ENFP who's had fibromyalgia for many years. Morning is my fuzzy-brainiest, least productive part of the day, so I focus on relatively mindless chores around the house. I try to schedule client meetings for late morning at the earliest and work on landscape plans, design proposals, etc., in the afternoon or evening when my brain is firing at 100%.

    The biggest takeaway is not to enter information in the morning if you need to get work done. My mind is constantly processing everything that goes into it, even while I am doing other tasks. How do you feel about reading in the morning? I was reading when an idea came to me. And my mind is focused on that idea even while I'm doing other tasks. That's why it doesn't solve one thing😢

    I find that all of this is very true. Emails can be overwhelming in the morning,and it's true that if i do not exercise in the morning,i tend to just not do it and get absorbed into videos and such.
    I think this is why it is best,especially for us,to avoid mental stimulation at night,because then my mind won't stop overthinking things.

    • @gamboamia
      @gamboamia 3 года назад +3

      I love working out at night. If I work out in the morning, I start to feel tired and I want to either take a nap or laze around all day. Maybe I just go really hard on working out? I don’t know but I do like the feeling of burning the stress of the day away with a nice workout in the evenings and once in a while in the late afternoon on the weekend. You do you.

    • @MelanieHooks
      @MelanieHooks 3 года назад +2

      "Avoiding mental stimulation at night" = YESSSSSS! I guess other people can have a 9pm work call and then sleep. We are not those people...I have struggled mightily even with evening choir online since it's later now due to pandemic schedules. If it's creative and I'm involved, I need at least two hours after to wind down.

  • @daniellesomers7481

    Omg yes this is very true ! 👍 I'm an enfp ..obviously that's why I'm here 🤣 and yea that's so true !! With the get moving and not opening up social media thing . I find first thing in the morning social media kinda just gives me anxiety ..and when I sit and just start watching TV it's true I will not leave the couch to go do that thing I want to do ...and then you feel shitty about yourself . So I like to workout every morning ..I don't always want to ..so what I do is I just slowly give myself time to wake up with a coffee or a tea ..then it's like ok I'll put the Mat down ...now I'll put the running shoes on the Mat...OK...well I may as well put the shoes on ...now I'll walk around the house in my shoes ... and then it's like ok well I'm good to go now may as well do it haha 😄

    I definetly can relate to waking my body up in the morning, I find I need social group exercise or a walk/run outside the house. I really need the variety and connection to nature.
    A cold bath in the morning also really helps... It's intense and I live for intense... In some peculiar way.
    The newest of the routine also makes sense.
    And then having fun leaning something new or interesting also gets me stimulated

    Hi Dan, I hope you can help, I watched a video of yours only yesterday and was so impressed by it I wanted to watch it again but it has disappeared from my history list of watched videos. It was about how enfps get stuck in mundane tasks and routines that are draining of energy and quite depressing and how important it is for us to find something we are truly excited and passionate about and focus on the future rather than trying to fix the past first. You also proposed as a solution to hire someone to do the repetitive tasks. Do you know the video I’m talking about? Can you please link it? 🙏🤩

    I am a medical Assistant. It helps me if someone else plans sometimes. So I am more obligated to do it. Where I work two days is planed out. The rest week is not. Also it helps if plans are never set in stone. When I set a schedule it’s hard for because I feel like I have to do something at specific time so it doesn’t get done.

    Thank you for this video. I understood myself a little better from your videos. These days, the first thing that I do in the morning is clean my room, make coffee and work out while listening to audiobooks. I have been struggling with this, I have to have sth on when I work out to distract me from exercising but when I play audiobooks, I find some really good points that I need to note. If I put anything else, I get distracted from working out. HELP!!! Another struggle is that by the time I am done working out and showering when I sit at the desk I get bored to start my work and even if I force myself to do it, I feel sleepy and thus I need to distract myself now and then. Pomodoro had helped me initially but I'm bored of it too. what do I do??/

    I would just add that breakfast is essential. It gives you stamina throughout the day and will automatically make you more productive. Even if you don't like breakfast, just eat anyway. Foods high in protein are the most beneficial. Mindfulness can also be very helpful for ENFP's who struggle with attention deficits, anxiety and emotional regulation. Walks while practicing mindfulness has been very helpful for me. And yes absolutely avoid social media. If you want to go further and be even more productive as an ENFP, I would suggest deleting most of your social media. Getting off Twitter and Facebook has been one of the best decisions I've ever done. Due to our extraverted intuition, I think social media can be the most damaging to ENFPs and ENTPs more than any other type. And yes to doing some kind of exercise in the morning as well. Makes us feel like we can do anything. Great advice in the video!
