Made me realize strict discipline routine is so hard for me because I always find ways to work my way around the routine that’s set up. With the power of ASD and ADHD, my discipline is nil!!
Great piece! Here's a "TL;DW" for those who feel intimidated by a 10-minute video: 1. Eliminate unnecessary temptations and draining decisions from your routine. 2. Build up your own (and others') faith in your word by stating what you're going to do before you do it-and by not committing to things you don't actually want to do. 3. Create clear-cut, black-and-white rules for yourself that allow for measurable progress.
I'm an ENFP too, and I definitely have done extreme things like cut out entire food groups too. It's weird how disciplined we can be when we actually believe in something and make a clear plan. Despite that I also struggle with discipline so I needed this video, thanks!
I’ve been trying to explain this to my friends. Being vegan took away most of my old junk food habits because my favorite chocolates and candies were full of milk. I don’t use will power anymore, it’s just something that I don’t eat.
Yeah this is one of the few things I did. I am still vegan but I got back off the sugar wagon unfortunately but I totally agree that once you're used to it you never miss it. For me it was a social lapse that lead back into a kind of mini addiction. I think it's time to get back to no sugar
I agree with you that clear rules are easier. I find it difficult to stick to small dietary rules, but going vegan overnight was easy! Not drinking at all is also easier than sticking with 1-2 max.
I used to be totally regimented like a marine, but now I don’t do anything unless I feel like it. It works like a charm.. I’m not out to compete with anybody. My goal is to enjoy living in the moment..& trust LIFE, trust myself. Period 🏄🏻♂️
I think this insight on black and white rules and limiting down willpower vampires can help change my life. I also believe social commitment is our friend.
I hear you brother. I myself am an ENFP with ADHD. It has personally taken years on end with bad decisions and unhealthy life choices/escapism "all" it took was ekstremes, set rules with a consequenses. Not that i don't believe in leeway, i most shurely do and despite my handicap and whatnot im a very patient man with people, ideals and personal journeys. But for me, i lived poorly and was an addict with the excuse of being musician and a free spirit. This ended with diabetes due to severe obesity and poor organ capacity. All of a sudden shit got real and rules were rules. So i changed my diet, went to rehab, hit the gym, lost 55 kg and ran a marathon. All this was not the goal, the winning price was that i post all this found myself healthy, clean, still touring with my band doing what i loved and most of all, no matter what slander the world my have i found that despite my cons i was able to overachieve and not only fighting to achieve what the neuro typical worlds expectations agree on. By setting rules i achieved my own succes...
I’m a new subscriber, I LOVE YOUR CONTENT! I’m also an ENFP just recently found out. And learning all of this right now is extremely fascinating and I’m so inspired by you right now lol.. finally someone that understands me for me!! These tips are so helpful & valuable you have no idea how grateful I am to have found your channel!
This freakishly similar to my internal dialogue and personal set of rules I have developed from living w ADHD😏 thank you it helps to hear it externally
Great ideas, Dan! When I first started out with barbell training 1 1/2 years ago, I needed to have a solid structure: 5 days a week, counting calories/macronutrients, no alcohol, etc. because I needed the structure. However, over time I have been able to be a lot more flexible with food choices, how often I work out, etc. But yes, I agree that having that’s solid structure helps with not having to decide every day which drains energy resources. As for alcohol consumption, I’ve found that if I set a limit, I usually stick to it. So I can actually drink just one or two drinks but like you said, it does take will power. =) Lastly, I have to admit that sometimes I keep candy in my desk at work and each day I have to avoid the temptation of eating it even though I don’t even like candy all the much! Great tips! I will find a new owner for the candy. Hahaha
That's so funny about the candy. It's like you set up a little willpower zapping machine...taking a little bit each hour. I definitely agree about the time. Having been on this Keto diet for close to a year now, I am finding it possible to go off for a day or two and then get right back on...something I never thought would work for me. I think since I have experienced the benefits, that's enough for me to hop back on after a cheat day or two.
I too am an ENFP and might have ADHD but haven't been diagnosed yet. It's hard adulting like this but your tips are almost what I thought in my overthinking sessions as a solution. Now I just need to work on it. Very overwhelming but I hope it gets easier if I take it little by little in small time stamps. I really liked the concept of avoiding gray areas. I won't 'try' to follow that instead 'I will' (avoiding gray areas). Thank you.
So frustrated with life. Trying to explain to people that I'm trying my best and I do care and I'm not lazy or stupid I'm just really really not good at consistency, discipline knowing what to prioritise. It does not help that everyone else thinks these things are super easy and obvious. Also hustle culture, that really doesn't help you to not judge yourself and be judged and then get into an emotional spiral where you shut down and lose the motivation. Again. PS thank you so much for making this video. As an over emotional person I'm just gonna say I love your content and feel much solidarity with everyone else who is aiming for better in this way. Love all of you ♥️♥️♥️ yeah I'm a bit strange but you knew that already 😂😂
So relatable it's crazy. I find that group activities are very good for me to get something started independently (marathons will motivate me to practice my running; A Monthly Challenge can make me try something new; A deadline will force me to be creative; Taking a class where I have to explain what I learned WILL make me study, etc..) While ENFP's want LESS structure and & spontaneous emotional validation- I feel upset with myself for not meeting my bigger goals (publishing a book??). The "little things" are great- Like making a nice meal can be a great joy every day. But an hour or two a day should be spent on something that gets you out of your comfort zone if you really want to enjoy some solid emotional fulfillment
It is too bad that more leaders in the world do not explain ways to focus better and to use your time more effectively, It would influence the youth in such a positive way, such that less waste(not garbage) would be created in the world. Great video. I really liked your explanation on avoiding small tedious decisions throughout the day and to use that focus on more important things.
I started following the Forwago workout sessions day after day and it hasn't just changed my body, but positively impacted my mental health and made me a new me..
My new book, THE ENFP CALLING, is out now in Audiobook (I narrated), Print, and Digital. It's on Amazon (amzn.to/3Hn75Wv ), Audible ( www.audible.com/pd/The-ENFP-Calling-Audiobook/B0D79QMDCR? ), and most everywhere else you can get books books2read.com/enfp
And before you think "Oh god, another RUclipsr / Coach wrote some sh*tty book summarizing their videos...Scout's honor...this book is the furthest thing from regurgitation. It's 270 pages (or 8 hours on audiobook) of new ideas, stories, and insights. Check out the reviews on Amazon ( amzn.to/3Hn75Wv )
OMG Thank you for giving me permission to have black and white thinking about healthy habits. Many people are so down on this but I swear it's the only thing that has ever worked well for me.
As a rule breaker enfp who doesn't like being told what to do the black and white was so true and lately the building my words i used to be more energetic and do 10 things in one day and as i got to the down fall of my mood i didn't have that energy and couldn't keep up to my words so the results were i didn't trust myself .....ur videos are great i love u and wish u joy
I am 22 years old student, and past two years I was really struggling. A year ago I started using Forwago, and their personalized plans helped me a lot. I eat healthier, even started to workout, it helped me build my self-confidence, and maybe the best thing I started my small online business. It is nothing special, but it is nice to earn some money. And I am still making the progress. Take care of yourself and start building the life of your dreams. Everybody is capable of achieving their dreams.
Interestingly, I have little trouble disciplining myself to say 'no' (probably due to food intolerances) but a lot of trouble getting myself to DO things. I wonder if this has to do with xNFPs' relationship to Te.
Same. Becoming vegetarian, vegan, quitting alcohol or sugar - easy-peasy. Although making yourself disciplined to e. g. finish your own project or sketch/exercise regularly - almost impossible. How to learn this kind of discipline?
Don’t have any bad issues with rejecting things, but I’ve always been so bad at doing things. I cannot get myself to do something (ie: daily bass practice. I wanna become good but I always break routine…)
This explains why I don't have any problem doing intermittent fasting for 24 hours or even 48 hours as a dieting tool. During the fasting days, it doesn't take up too much willpower to go through the day on just coffee and water. But on the days I do eat (gym day/caloric surplus), I like to eat with reckless abandon.
Omg. Finally found someone who describes me perfectly. How things are working for me and not. I have ADHD and am a ENFP. Only black and white extreme self-made boundaries are working for me or I will fall off the wagon. 🤦♀️ Happy to see I am not the only one.
I dont know why, but when you started talking about commitment, I literally had a minor panic attack. Any ideas why I might struggle with commitment so much? This isnt like relationship commitment, but just every day commitments. I'm ENFP, any reason this might be happening?
Three months ago I found out about the program called Forwago. It is amazing how this program helped me to change my perspective and taught me to think more positively and to be more grateful.
Not an enfp but im vegan and uff that is a lot of dicipline and then going gluten free that's another level to discipline then going more simple by going raw vegan . you can do this with all of your life choices . i use this for bugeting, religion, cycling ,family communication, family task, planner life. Be simple you can only focus on one task at a time.
Generally not! I treat it like a uniform for videos. Why waste brain power thinking about what shirt I should wear each time when I can instead spend it thinking about making a great video :)
You are so great! Thank you. I find setting non-negotiables (ex. I practice music for 1 hour every day before noon; I don't eat wheat), really helpful. Thanks for the suggestion/reminder.
I always envied people who are inertly disciplined.
inately....
And [I] was also pissed of how they think everyone have the very same capability on doing so and if they don't they're voluntarily lacking.
@@michelle_ca8549 innately
a.k.a. INTJs hahaha
inherently?
This explains why I need BLACK AND WHITE. Clear guidelines because I will bend anything remotely flexible 😂
Same!!! Hit me up if you want to be accountability buddies. :)
Same those open math questions and my imagination doesnt go well

bless up, I couldn't finish the video even on 1.50 speed
Thank you!
thank you so much for this.
Does binge watching RUclips/ Netflix constitute draining decisions?
RUclips for me has now become a "try not to read the comments challenge"
A Random Hacker IMPOSSIBLE!!
LOL!!
Truuueeeeeeeeeeeeee
Just did this test, and discovered I'm an ENFP like 2 hours ago. Currently binge watching your videos and subbed, so facinatingly relatable!
Awesome to hear :) Welcome!

Lmfao same, it's like we have this weird paradox of qualities where everything is just on the extreme ends of things lol

Dhara it’s because ENFPs and INFPs tend to be all or nothing type personalities if something is worth doing it’s worth doing 150 percent or not at all
I used to be totally regimented like a marine, but now I don’t do anything unless I feel like it. It works like a charm.. I’m not out to compete with anybody. My goal is to enjoy living in the moment..& trust LIFE, trust myself. Period 🏄🏻♂️
as I was listening to this, my mind wandered off....ugh....

I don't know, there are too many self help books these days so I'm sure everything is covered somewhere by now lol
