This is the best explanation on how to do a cartwheel. I (from Germany) followed these instructions and after working it out for six months I've almost aschieved to do it. Not quite as perfectly as the coach shows it, but rather close. The cartwheel is a very good exercise building up the whole body. It gives you strength and flexibility - and if you are already a bit older like me - it gives you back the feeling of youth.
@Indrani N: Oh yes, regarding my age. I am 61 now and trying to move further from cartwheels to front walkover. But this will take some more time. Keep in mind, please, that I don't have any coach or sports room or space for thick mats. Here in Germany where I live this kind of sports isn't by far as popular as for instance soccer or tennis.
Impressive. Did you have any formal training when you were young? I am almost 40 and trying cartwheel for almost a month but my wrists are bothering me and I don’t see much progress
A very good tutorial and one of the very few on RUclips that gives me really hope to be able to do cartwheel in the near future. But we shouldn't forget that the sportsman in this video is a very well worked-out man other than most viewers. That's why everything looks so easy with him.
Excellent! Thank you! I've never had a problem with my cart wheels but I've been having a hard time explaining it to my daughter. This will go a long way
Love the detail in the progressions! If you do it everyday, you will honestly get better. I still can't straighten my legs but I'm starting to enjoy it
So much fun! I love cartwheels and recently taught a friend of mine to do them who thought she'd never be able to. Your first progression was almost exactly what I had her start with, and then she just went towards the "full expression" of the cartwheel from there. I never thought of "drawing the line" though-- I can see how that would be really helpful for some people! Love your posts and videos!
As always, great tutorial. Never tried the 2nd variation, thought that a "proper" cartwheel should always be executed with straight arms. Looks like so much fun to do it from a squat position. Will try it later on today, THANKS!!!!
Oh yeah, I've seen plenty of big guys and ladies who had great control and balance with enough strength to pull off a lot of cool stuff! Nice when you can earn some side money with it too ;)
We don't have plans for the 90 degrees push up video. However we do have a pretty awesome tutorial for the full range of motion handstand push up. gmb.io/handstand-push-up/ As for the wrist push ups we won't be doing a video on that soon however we have a pretty comprehensive article on strengthening the wrists :) gmb.io/wrist/
Thx for the vid. I already watched your last video on the topic a while ago. But haven't really tackled the skill. At the moment I prefer the one out of a deep squat. I do some floreio stuff and "Au cortado" was part of it. Different variations out of the deep squat are quite challenging. I think I will come back to this video when I got a little more progress in my floreio.
Will paralletes 1 be able to build a proper foundation for me before I start to learn more Advance moves like front lever, planche, handstand and 360s.....etc.?
Those moves are not really related to P1 other than the planche. Although the planche again is covered in p2. However building a strong foundation in your control, flexibility, and strength is never a bad thing. Right?
Nice video. A refurbished version of the old one. I will definitly give the variation at the end a try. Oh and by the way, is Ryan gettting old. I spotted some white in his beard ;-)
It is ok to work on the cartwheel with your legs slightly bent. If you aren't in any pain you can continue to work on the cartwheel and over time you will build the strength to have your hips stacked.
By bending your arms with out the proper strength in that position you are always going to fall. Take your time and remember to keep pushing through the arms the entire time!

Awesome tutorial to nail a skill EVERYONE should be able to do at any age. Thanks Ryan
It looks so easy but when I try it it's hard :(
I no rite
Been trying to teach the kids at my AM/PM program how to cartwheel! So stoked to walk them through these progressions now!
All I need to do for a cartwheel is straighten my legs and lift my legs up
Yep so easy now all I need to learn is how how to put my legs in the air without pulling a muscle
So much fun! I love cartwheels and recently taught a friend of mine to do them who thought she'd never be able to. The line is a nice guideline and gives you something to focus on :) Glad it helps!

It's nice to see a tutorial for something "simplier" than a handstand or a front lever etc. Thanks for catering to the "little guys" lol.
Hey Eoin! Glad this was able to help and you are a little guy :) Keep up the good work!
very helpful but Still can now do it!
Handstands help with this tho.
I find my abilty to cartwheel improves dramatically after the fourth pub.
Like every GMB tutorial: absolutely great! Quick and simple, not it's time to do the work myself!
I used to do this at work at the foundry I worked at to win bets.
no one believed a 300 lb guy could do a perfect cartwheel...

Beautiful!
Thanks for posting it - even though I am bordering obesity, I still attempted it and kind of completed it with ease!
I just can't straighten my legs , I've been trying to do it for 2 months is it bad cause I took that long it's so frustrating
Thank you so much✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
Awesome tutorial! Would be nice to see a front flip tutorial too.
That tutorial can be found in our floor two program! gmb.io/f2/

Great to hear Jonas. Nothing wrong with practicing the basic cartwheel and getting it even better. It will certainly help with your floreio :)
Great tutorial. Thanks.
I always feel jealous when I see kids just bust out cartwheels and handstands with ease
Well Bruce never to late to get started.
Ikr :\
me too
@@bunbunshi8897 a lot of kids lose those skills if they don't keep practising it as they age. So it's really all about consistency.

That's what tends to happen ever year. Crazy, right?
Thank god, men become more attractive and handsome with age, whereas the opposite sex...well, never mind. ;-)
Also, for paralletes 1 or 2, will regular push up bars do? Or it has to be ground paralletes?
You want to work on the pbars. You are developing your strength for future movements on the bars.
Because quarantine i became more curious abt this😂
I hope you move past curiosity and actually practice it too :)
@@gmbfit thank youuu! I i will practice more!!
Brain:it's easy
Body:you think so?
hahahahaha
All i need to perfect my carthweel is straigthing my leg i cant straight them
I’m 300lbs.
I will master this.
You can do it, Aaron.
@@gmbfit I’ll send the video in a week.
I’m a former wrestler getting into MMA. & it is a must learn for combat sports
I'm stuck at progression 2. Any more tips?
It takes time and practice. So it all comes down to how long you have been working on it. :) Give the article a read too gmb.io/cartwheel/

I’m watching this cause I haven’t practiced on my bad leg and it’s crap, so I’m trying to be even on both sides
definitely important to work your weak side
I MY A GOD I DIDIDIDI IT
All my scared if I hurt myself really bar
It will be my first time . I’ll make a vid
I’m a god dang 13 year old that is watching this because I need to learn this to do a side flip
Word!
Cool, this makes more sense then me "just giving it a go".
I'm afraid to keep my arms straight, I've them slightly bent so I then collapse.

I can’t even do the first exercise, I’ll never be able to do an cartwheel 😣
Yeah, may as well just give up if you don’t get it on the first try, right?
@@gmbfit I tried for literally 30 minutes straight and replayed it 10 times. Still struggling
That's not a lot.
@@gmbfit I’ll try again if it pleases u 🙄
I’m 13 and I can’t do a cartwheel
I try but, I’m too scared to go down.
Don't worry about rushing into the hardest progression. Start at the beginning and listen to your body. :)
Thank you 😁
I still cant get it i should just give up
No. Keep practicing and it will come.
Oml I still can’t do it 😂
Keep practicing!
I can't stop crying I'm not getting it
It takes time and practice. Don't give up!
Jeez I can't even straight my Legs, do you expect me to do that?
I don't expect anything, but if you want to learn a cartwheel, you'll practice and eventually get better.
I cant even lift my body weight ...im not sure
Take it slow and if you don't feel ready you can always go back and work your pushing strength. gmb.io/push-up/
Now I have badly hurt my wrist this did not help
Please see a doctor.
I don’t know why I’m here I already have my cartwheel
Pls don’t hate meh
I don’t think my arms are strong enough to do it
Then work on that
Noo I cannot
with practice, you almost certainly can
Okayy
