My dishwasher was continually showing F14 and I was about to call the service, but I got hold of your video, the inner filter which had the metal ball was completely blocked with 5 lemon 🍋 seeds, without your help it wasn’t possible to clean it, now my Miele is shining again, thanks a lot, Peace!!
Thanks, Scott. I love my Miele Dishwasher, and having access to your guidance to clean it myself was invaluable. My dishwasher is running strong!!! THANK YOU!
Thank you Scott. My model is the built-in Miele Futura Classic and your instructions worked for this model as well. The only difference was that the one-way valve appears to be fused or glued with the housing component beneath. Cleaning all the components with an old tooth brush and a degreaser did the trick. Now my dishwasher is shining and doesn't smell bad anymore. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge and experience with us. Keep up the good work!
Superb Video. I am not much of a handy man, your video gave me the confidence to attempt the cleaning ( performance of the dishwasher had deteriorated) and complete it with a bit of help. Thank You so much.
Thank you so much. I bought a second hand Miele today. When I got home it gave an error f11. the seller didn't accept. she said that i could look the hand book. Your video helped me. screw came out of the pump.
Every few months I clean the filter and spray arms. Then add 2 dishwasher tablets to the empty machine and run on it’s hottest cycle. I salvaged it from my friend almost ten years ago. Required the door drains cleaning - 30 mins. It’s now almost 20 years old and used daily.
Cheers, just fixed our machine, sweet corn and bit of plastic in the dirty water impeller. Used your vid to see how to clean and access. Thanks very much.
Thanks for the great video--way more helpful than the instruction booklet. So the Miele service technician said the vast majority of problems people have arise from using way too much detergent. He recommended no more than a teaspoon full. I won't say how much we had been using!! As a result, all the parts get covered with hardened detergent and bad things happen, such as water leaking on the floor in front of the machine, filters clogged, drains clogged, etc. So we use the Miele dishwasher cleaner and then the Miele dishwasher/washing machine cleaner and our leakage problem went away!! That's the good news. The bad news is that 8 years of no maintenance and too much detergent has made it very difficult to take off the triple filte,r the non-return valve and the drain pump fan. As a result, the filter under the screen did not come off as part of the triple filter system. Finally got the handle and screen off but not the filter below it. It is stuck solid. Any ideas how to free that up so I can clean it more thoroughly--it's really clogged up. Thanks!
Thanks Elliot, I would pour in half a pot of boiling water and a quarter cup of vegetable oil and let it sit for 10 minutes and then grab the filter and rotated in both directions by a quarter ranch until it finally breaks free
Should there be an O ring or washer between the one way valve and the part of the machine it sits next to? (at the left) When I took mine out, it had what I thought was dried crusty dishwasher powder around it which I scraped out with my fingernail. Turns out there is a groove that looks like it should have some sort of seal. So maybe it was a white rubber seal of some sort that had perished? When I clip it back in there is a now small gap I can see between it's body and the part of the dishwasher which it sits next to where the water goes through.
@@1965stevieboy Yes it is supposed to have a white rubber seal in there. Problem is Miele won't sell it on it's own and want a huge amount of money for a new complete non return valve. So instead of giving them about $55, I took the valve with me bought a 50c O ring to fit the groove from a hardware store. Won't be buying Miele next time I buy a dishwasher. Parts are far too expensive and they have terrible customer service, at least here in Australia. ☹
Hi Scott when trying to clean our Miele the steel post visible at 0.51 seconds (inside the drain basin, top right) was accidentally pushed in, we cant get it back out. What function does this part have? Help!
That’s the temperature sensor probe. You can take off the panels below the door, make sure it’s unplugged and reach in to push that probe back through the black rubber gasket.
@@QuickAndEasy5MinuteAppliance thankyou, we are having trouble figuring out how to remove the panel below the door, the plastic kick plate. Our model is a G1243SC. Is this designed to be removed?
@@QuickAndEasy5MinuteAppliance update, we managed to remove the kick plate successfully and took the base plate off for clear access, and pushed the temperature sensor back successfully. Just as well this all happened as we discovered there is a slight leak and reddish fluid slowly dripping onto the base plate out of sight. We assume this can be fixed by replacing the drain hose which is 20 years old. I would like to also replace the water supply hose and its water pressure fitting, can the standard dishwasher hoses / fittings from the hardware store be used or does it have to be Miele? Youradvice is appreciated thankyou.
hey there, once the filter screen is removed - what is the function of the silver cyclinder? I pushed it in to its seal. Good, bad, ugly? Thanks in advance. Great video.
nice vid! do i need to cut power to the dishwasher first? my Miele dishwasher is built into the island and i'm not sure how to cut its power, would be nice if that's unnecessary!
Have you ever used CLR to remove calcium buildup on the screen? No toothbrush will touch it. I’ve tried vinegar and that didn’t really work either. Thanks-
I followed the suggestion above for the silver temperature probe. I had to put the dishwasher on its side and remove 4 torx15 screws to remove the bottom panel and the temperature probe was hanging out right there.
Hi. Thank you for your great videos. I have an F11 fault on my Miele dishwasher and won't drain the water out. I checked the non return valve and entire drain path and found absolutely no blockages. The drain pump works fine but won't push the water out. I even disconnected the drain hose off the under sink drain connection and no water comes out. Any suggestions please?
Thanks John, It sounds like the non-return valve that sits right on top of the drain impeller is stuck in the closed position and it’s not letting the water leave the dishwasher. I can send you a video that shows you how to clean the one-way valve. Just let me know if you need that video.
Hi, Thank you for your prompt reply! I have checked the non return valve and is all clear. One thing I noticed was a very fine crack on the side of the non return valve casing (part which clips on to the sump). Thinking that this will create a pressure leak I managed to heat up the plastic with the tip of a soldering iron and mended the crack. I have pulled eveything else apart and there's absolutely no blockages
Hi John, You might try putting your drain hose in a bucket and shake the hose while it’s set to drain to try and knock the blockage out. Does the impeller rotate freely when you turn it by hand?
Thank you once again for your prompt reply. I pulled out the dishwasher and opened it underneath. I blew some air through the drain pipe and there's no blockage. I physically removed the drain pump and by holding it in the air, I turned on the dishwasher on a quick program. The pump works and the impeller spins.
We took off the triple filter piece and accidentally pushed the silver piece into the black ring :( Is there anyway to get it out? What does the piece even do. Our dishwasher will no longer work. HELP THANKS in advance.
If you unplug it and then remove the bottom kick panel and also a small panel underneath you should be able to reach in and push that silver temperature probe back through the hole and that should do it😊
Experiencing a Fault F78? • Heat up 2 cups of warm tap water in the microwave for 3 minutes. (approximately 150-160F) • DO NOT USE HOT TAP WATER AS IT IS NOT HOT ENOUGH! • Remove the filter assembly from the bottom of the dishwasher. • Pour the hot water into the sump of the dishwasher and add 2-4 drops of rinseaid to the hot water. • Let it sit for 5-7 minutes. • While you are waiting for the hot water to heat up the circulation pump, access service mode and clear all fault codes. • Start a new cycle after the time has elapsed. The hot water/rinse aid will drainout. • The circulation pump will start after the dishwasher has filled with water.(Approximately 2 minutes). • The pump should operate as normal. • If the pump has not started after 2 minutes, try the hot water/rinse aid mixture again. I did this exactly and now my dishwasher won't work. :-( I can't figure out what I did wrong. At first I thought I put the silverware rack back incorrectly and that it was blocking the dw from latching closed, so I removed the entire silverware rack and then the dishwasher did work; I did two cycles that way. Then I tried to reinsert the silverware rack and made sure it was done correctly; it was all the way touching the back wall of the dishwasher so it couldn't have been blocking the latch, but still the dw would not start (display won't light up.) So again I removed the silverware rack entirely, because that seemed to "fix" it before. But this time it did not. The display won't light up or it momentarily flashes when I hit the power button. All I did was clean the dw and put everything back together, and also I wiped out the seals and wiped down the steel with some diluted alcohol on a rag. The DW did work twice when I took out the silverware rack; now it won't start at all. It is only 3 months old. Thanks in advance for any advice!!
Update: I unplugged it and plugged it back in and hit the power button a few times and it is running again. NOW my husband tells me that the other day when he got it to work by removing the silverware tray, he had also switched the breaker off and on again. So yeah, the whole silverware tray was a red herring. Something electrical/electronic going on. It's running now. Maybe I'll get lucky and won't happen again!! (at least it is under manufacturer's warranty.) Anyway, thanks for the helpful cleaning video! That really solved my problem. I was getting grit left behind in my glasses and bowls. I think it was because I had put a spaghetti sauce jar in the dishwasher without removing the paper label first. Cleaning the filter and spray arms fixed that!
