The storyline buildup around the time prior to No Mercy 2002 was one of the greatest rivalries I've ever seen back in the day involving Brock Lesner vs The Undertaker. And the PPV itself was one of the best and most brutal climaxes in wrestling history, and the theme tune makes it twice as good!
Paul Heyman: THAT CAST HAS TO COME OFF THE UNDERTAKER'S HAND BEFORE HELL IN A CELL Stephanie McMahon: In the Hell In a Cell The Undertaker will be allowed to WEAR HIS CAST.
Such a shame WWE quit using this as well as the PPV, No Mercy was always one of my favorites. The ending to this song alone is beautiful, nice piano solo to end it.
I still have this PPV on DVD. Crazy art with Kane’s mask empty. Card overall had some bangers on it, most importantly, Taker and Lesnar’s OG HIAC encounter. Gotta love the RA era.
This was a badass theme for a badass pay-per-view. Favourite match of the '02 No Mercy would have to be either Benoit/Angle vs Edge/Mysterio for the WWE Tag Titles or the Lesnar/Undertaker Hell in a Cell for the WWE Title.
OMG No Mercy is back!! The return of badass sounding ppvs, No Mercy, No Way Out, Vengeance, Judgment Day, Backlash, Bad Blood, Taboo Tuesday, Armageddon, The Great American Bash, Unforgiving, ohh how i miss the Ruthless Aggression Era...
aside from 2011, I really doubt they'll bring Vengeance back, considering that it's now about as attached to Chris Benoit as Over The Edge is to Owen Hart
No mercy 2002 WWE CHAMPIONSHIP: UNDERTAKER VS BROCK LESNAR (W/PAUL HEYMAN) HELL IN A CELL!!! I had just turn 6, so I asked my dad to order this pay-per-view for me. I would never forget that night, seeing the hell in a cell match between taker and lesnar was just unbelievable guys. This song definitely fits for that match. The rivalry was insane and personal. I was shocked at the beating undertaker received, seeing undertaker wiping off his blood away from his eyes because he couldn't see! it was truly brutal! at the end you will see undertaker, laying down in a pool of his own blood... looking up and Brock Lesnar, standing on top of the cage with the belt rising high. No mercy.
I just turn 4 and I saw the highlights on SD and I was fuck I was hoping Taker won but no. Taker in his pool of blood looking up at Lesnar and saying yep he's the "man" as the future
The opening when Kane says to Undertaker (So how was your week) Its such a simple line to come up with. But everything each of them had going on with there characters stories was perfect!
EXACTLY. When characters actually converged on a substantial level using a basic overlay. It was rare to see Kane and Taker together after the brand split so this was a treat
@@fashionsxxtion then considering what went down between them at the rumble few mo tha after this and the following year at survivor series whole things a trip
My favorite PPV of all time and not because it was the greatest necessarily but because it was in my home state of Arkansas and I was there. The only PPV I've EVER gotten to see live. The Smackdown Tag Championship match: Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit vs Edge and Rey Mysterio was AMAZING. The Hell in a cell match for the WWE Championship: Brock Lesnar vs The American Badass version of Undertaker was another incredible match. What a night.
I get goosebumps when I hear this in the promo when Brock is up close Stephanie Mcmahon in the ring, and Undertaker charges him, out of nowhere Brock turns around, bam spine buster. Epic moment.
When society was badass, when times where tougher, crazy how everything can change something like WWE, but it did and it’s very sad to see what everything has become.
compare todays wwe (use of soft melodic pseudo rap music) & their ppvs.... wwe was better a decade ago and the 90s .. miss those days, oh well, all in the name of progress
For time has pased us in a hurry... once it was a new thing, a new era... a new day. I listen to this song and just imagine how things could have been in general to different things. It was great knowing everything was put in the right places at this time in era. Brock added attitude to this event. Masked Kane was nearly unstoppable... Triple H at his finest, Undertaker... everyone that was involved on this event and in this era- the list goes on... GREAT piece of work here!
I miss when every NO MERCY has this song, well Ruthless Aggression era did but would switch back in forth sometimes with this one and a new rock song but this will always be the NO MERCY theme song
Undertaker used once this song once as his entrance theme before No Mercy 2002. Perhaps Jim Johnston wanted to give a little peak of the song using it as Undertaker's entrance theme. He often alters many songs after they've used for the first time. I don't why he does so many versions of each entrance theme.
Yes it was but only one time on SmackDown! episode in 2002 yet it was an instrumental version. I even have my VHS tape somewhere with Undertaker using this song. It wasn't OFFICIALLY his intro song but he did use it once...
thegame890 yes the Undertaker did use this song on Smackdown but it wasn't before No Mercy it was before Unforgiven. The Undertaker came out when his song instrumental and called out Brock Lesnar
No Mercy 2002 in my home state of Arkansas at the Alltel (Now Verizon) Arena in North Little Rock! I wish we would get a pay per view to come back to Little Rock. All we get now is SmackDown for the most part.
I wonder why wwe didnt release the other no mercy 2002 theme the one used in brock vs taker promo and thr one he used only on smackdown 2002 before no mercy?
my son is remembering how they played the theme song months later after we finally got to see the debut of maxes life partner roxxane since a goofy movie 15 years later how john cena guest starred on generation rex that the voice of Maxwell goof worked on in 2010
I miss when WWE was TV-14 and had Rock PPV themes, now we're stuck with PG wrestling with candy pop PPV themes
AEW, NXT (even though NXT runs PG)
NXT just used War Pigs by Ozzy at their War Games ppv. Sadly, you are mostly correct though.
@Ruthless Attitude Entertainment 🤣🤣🤣🤣GayEW. Perfect description lol
Fuck the pg era
Get a life
This song makes me miss the old WWE.

Smackdown was the number one show at the time!
Yet another PPV where the WWE screwed Kane :/
HHH...
well, both the Brothers of Destruction were screwed here
Can't think of a ppv were he wasn't screwed

I wish that Jim had made special theme songs for Backlash, Judgment Day, Vengeance, Bad Blood, Unforgiven, and No Way Out as well.

If a was a wrestler, this would be my entrance song
This song is great!! Reminds me of how much I miss it when wwe was good!!
The piano in the finishing 🔥🔥🔥
Best PPV theme ever. Jim Johnston is just as important to music as any other producer/composer!! He’s a God
If No Mercy is coming back as an annual deal for NXT, I hope they bring this song back for a future year. But I doubt it because of licensing
Triple H should bring Jim back regardless
I'll never forget the old days of WWE
Hopefully they use this song for the upcoming NXT No Mercy in September
