    • @FordBossMe

I can do it the easy way or I can do it by the book and the easy way is after you clear everything you simply just have to drive the vehicle and normally it takes a week to two weeks of normal driving on City driving and highway driving and the car will relearn almost every time without having to worry about the by the book stuff

I won't ever use drilled rotors anymore. had them where they had stress cracks around the holes. these are quality rotors made by a Canadian company I forgot the name they weren't cheap and they were black oxidized. Had no rust issues

Bought all four rotors/brakes for 2011 Tahoe I removed caliper cleaned with wire brush applied grease on contact points and everything is PERFECT!! People who complain and have install videos literally just remove brakes don’t cut the rotors or even apply grease then wonder why they’re squealing and dusting so much do it right the first time and you shouldn’t have any problems Detroit Axel saved my family money and watching your review helped me make the decision to purchase

Glad to hear it worked out well.
I am 100% sold on ceramic pads. Used to be just for the dust factor, but I also discovered that the surface of my rotors stay flatter and don’t groove up like they always did with the semi-metallic, etc.

semi-metallic are SHIT. always spongy and go bad fast. and yep they will tear up a rotor fast

Just wanted to come back and say thanks for this review which helped me decide to get them. I put rotors and ceramic pads on my 07 Accord V6 Sedan a few weeks ago and they’ve been great, and a great price too. I also painted the hats and the cooling fins with high temp paint before install and they look, feel, and sound great. Great performance for only $150. I always wonder if people just give bad reviews because they didn’t bed the brakes, clean everything up good, lube the pins, guides, contact surfaces, etc and just get bad results.

Have a set of these on my 05 Dodge mini-van and I really like them. Been running them since spring of last year. The biggest issue with the Mopars is rotor warping and that issue is gone. Still as smooth as when they were new. Bought a set for my daughters car just to see how they hold up. So far so good. I could put pads and rotors on her Charger and the rotors would be warped withing a month. She has two speeds when it comes to driving...either on or off. If they can hold up to her driving habits then they must be pretty good.

when I was a tec for a local municipality we had a few dodge intrepids. I went to having them cryogenically treated and that increased the longevity of the pads and rotors. I was replacing front pads and rotors every oil change. = 3000 miles

I had a set of slotted and drilled ebay rotors on all 4 corners of my focus ST. I had them glowing orange multiple times driving it really hard in the mountains when I lived around Denver area. Those rotors lasted until the car was totalled at 170,000 miles. They went through probably 4 sets of brake pads never warped they did like to make noise first thing in the morning but after they were ran it always was good for the rest of the day. These rotors did come galvanized though so they did require a good break in.

I was told the same kind of deal when I put the PowerStop Z23 pads and rotors on my 07 Mustang, the backs messed up on me pretty bad but I hold a set of bad E-Brake cables accountable for that, not the pads or rotors. Im running Duralast Gold pads and rotors on the rear and still have the Z23 kit on the front of the car, the work phenomenal, no crazy amount of dust or heat on them, and the pads have been on there for over a year and still have tons of life left in them

I love ceramic pads. I've been using them for years on various vehicles, and I'll never go back to the "semi-metallic" pads. I especially love not hearing the brakes squeak first thing in the morning when their cold. Ford had so many complaints from their older full size car owners about the "dust" issues, they put plastic dust shields on some of their models.

They are decent, and, they back their product. For what you're paying you get more than your money's worth. My 2001 WJ that's a Jeep Grand Cherokee 4wd they worked great. I evacuate my lines, full brake fluid exchange and the pedal feel with the ceramics and drilled and slotted rotors on all four corners. Full brake job;for $200 is incredible cheap. They will stop you without any fade. Considering how hard I drive the Jeep the front rotors lasted almost 20,000 miles I forget how often I changed the front pads but the front rotors lasted 22,838 miles. Which is not quite factory miles but they didn't cost as much. E Brake shoe tolerance was spot on. I'm going with Bosch quiet cast this time. I'm not complaining, I'm making better money now and can afford better. I wouldnt use DA for a work truck because if you do youll be pissed off at how often the pads require changing but for a commuter that's sitting in traffic or the occasionally driven weekend driver they are totally fine. In this case for me I got more than I paid for. I was kind of alarmed at the pad wear but they sent me new front pads when I bitched. Same result but hey.

I remember replacing rotors on probably the 92 Olds Cutlass wagon I had or the 89 Corsica, I went to NAPA for new ones since nobody here turns rotors, I was very unhappy with them, in maybe 3-4 months the rotors warped, I could feel pulsating in the brake pedal and I am NOT one of those who drags brakes on hills or hard stops so I can't imagine I could have overheated them enough to warp them just doing normal driving around town, we don't really HAVE hills here to speak of, not like the 4% ? grade outside of Butte MT that is miles long!
On my 2004 Grand Caravan I have now, I replaced the 4 rotors with new ones from Mopar/Magneti Marelli, along with new pads, they all fit perfectly and included the springs for the calipers. So far they feel smooth and brake as expected and I think it was a better choice than anything I might have gotten thru NAPA.

I'm running EBC slotted and dimpled front rotors on my 96 Mark VIII LSC and they fixed the pulsation problem (every 3k miles on cheap rotors) but they do have some noise when stopping (you hear it when running a concrete wall beside the road). I heard the same thing on a Chevy pickup I was test driving a few weeks ago.

I don't know why people say that a brake pad that has dust is bad. Every brake pad will give off dust. It is the semi metallic brake pads that cling to the wheel with the metal that is in a pad that rust them out. You will always get dust. That is why Mercedes-Benz in the past has used plates behind the wheel in front of the rotor to prevent the dust from getting on the wheels. It is just a fact of the way things wear on cars.

I had the same drilled and slotted rotors but mine did end up warping badly due to very spirited city driving as a delivery driver. But so did the next set of normal rotors I just put on them so I think its more my driving that does it.

My buddy with the Detroit axle on his Pontiac, had a lot of dust with his but he was also extremely hard on them at times and had a slightly sticking master so that didn't help by any stretch. While those pads were breaking in they kinda stunk though. If you drive like a sane person all the time and don't have sticky brakes they'll be perfectly fine. I bought Detroit rear sway bar end links for my five hundred cause they were the only greasable all metal ones I could find. They have been phenomenal

  • @ausmartin1

Excellent.... people- before blaming new brake components.... they have to ask themselves.... is the- brakefluid clean and fresh? Are caliper pins lubricated and moving freely? Are there new pad spring clips installed if applicable & were the points where the pads slide cleaned and brake grease applied? Is the hand brake releasing.... then you can point at new hardware... or application problems in 🙄

I think I'll get a set of these Detroit axle rotors for my five hundred. I like how they look and it also fix my warped rotor problem. The brake best rotors I got feel like warped records at highway speeds. Will those ones warp? I don't think so. You have to swap external parts but yes, you can do it. I put a P71 Crown Vic motor in a Mustang.

I've built race cars for years using drilled and or slotted rotors. Only issue under severe use is spider cracking around the holes. For street applications they should be fine. I like the Power Stop zinc plated drilled and slotted rotors for my 2008 Mustang Bullit. They look great, work well and no rust.

Man, I lucked out and found a fresh set front and back at the junkyard for 50 bucks they looked new got ceramic pads man they good. Is all I can say stop better too

I've used Detroit axle parts, they're fine!
My personal opinion on drilled and slotted rotors, a good solid rotor is just as good for street driving without the risk of the drill holes cracking.

Drill holes cracking some say was a issue years ago and the materials they use now are not so bad
Also the set is cheap, it's no issue to just replace it if it starts
Just as good would indicate same right?
I notice better stopping with these overall so I'd say it was a improved to me
