@@thenormie hahaha... I know right? I'm not hating on ibanez guitars since i own a bunch of them and they're brilliant, but really... where're the innovation in remaking a Godin guitar?
I’ve been searching for a nylon for a few months now and I’m leaning towards this now, cost effective, looks pretty good, can sound good. I just need a good classical feel that’s not bulky or awkward so I can strengthen my finger picking skills.
It won't give you classical feel man....classical feels comes from bigger nut 55mm or if you want 52mm nut. The way you would hold chords for flamenco and classical guitar is a bit different and you can't do that with 45-42mm nut. The finger picking (right hand feel) will also be way different ( what i can say by looking at the specs) and the thin body sound in no way compares to classical guitar. Buy the guitar if you think it's cool, which it is but it is not a classical guitar and won't feel like it ever. Even in promotional video it never says classical guitar.
There are other options that'll give you a more classical feel, e.g. yamaha silent guutar, cordoba stage. I personally own an Angel Lopez EC3000, which I really like the sound of.
@@prthsingh11 I think that's the big selling point for it though. It's for people who want to play nylon but don't like the feel of a classical guitar. That's the camp I'm in
Probably a decent option if you like that kind of sound. The top without the sound port combined with the piezo pickup make for a very different sound to a traditional acoustic guitar. Not a very “natural” sound. It is a sound that works well for certain types of music but I would say it’s less versatile. Definitely audition one next to a more traditional nylon string before you buy.
this is my new favorite guitar of all time. for sure have to pick one of these up this year yall changed my life with thinline GA35 sunburst violin nylon. it was literally my favorite guitar of all time. until i had to sell it, ibanez forever stan
Actually, the one Scott used in playing god was much worse than this one. It was the first TOD10N/FRH10 nylon prototype ever, and ibanez had put the bridge in the wrong spot, so that the guitar was essentially unplayable. I suppose the band recorded the song using a mix of the original SC500N and Tim's first full-fledged TOD10N, and then switched back to the burst prototype just for the music video.
I adore thinline acoustics especially with unusual sound holes, so this one is definitely up my alley! But I must ask: dear @IbanezOfficial, are there any plans of a steel-string version of this beauty or the 10N model?
@@josephjester4917 for some reason the extra cost is for extra time people had to build or setup lefty models after make all normal models. I can understand as one who work on a factory if you do the same products for 8 hours when you find something different you losing your mind.
I wish I could have heard this with out so much reverb. I’d also like to have heard some examples using fingers and not just pick. It may have helped in warming up the piezo sound a bit. I have been waiting for a nylon with these exact specs (16” radius, super thin body for feedback rejection and a truss rod). I’d also like to see some use of the preamp and how much range it has over the pickup tone and in dialing up a warm unaffected tone when plugged it. Thanks for posting. This instrument is a great idea and the playing on the demo is fabulous.
Nylon strings have always been my favorite. They are so much more expressive than steel strings. They have disadvantages, though. Volume is the big one, which is how steel strings came to prominence. These guitars, though, solve that problem. I kinda need one.

OK, let's see a comparison with its closest competitor, Godin's ACS Grand Concert. It looks very much like Ibanez has built this AS a response to that guitar. Or as a response to everyone else's response to Godin's MultiAcc options, which now look years ahead of their time. This looks very good. The side sound port is a useful idea - might make the sound unplugged better than Godin's (which, unplugged, is past minimal - damn near competition for Yamaha's Silent Guitar). Is the neck adjustable? (Godin's has a truss rod). What's the setup like? (Godin's is past exceptional - action is AMAZING fresh from the factory). Compare the electronics (Godin's is 5+ yrs old, but offers polyphonic pickups as an additional option & connectability to MIDI. Then again, with the ACS Grand Concert, you're paying extra for that - or buy one of the other Godin MulitAcc models, & don't). UPDATE: This Ibanez lacks Godin's truss rod; Godin offers a variety of neck widths too. Godin's ACS now comes in multiple models, incl. 9 with synth access, but all are WAY more expensive than this Ibanez. The Godin offers better electrics, again with the synth option: Custom RMC electronics with 13-pin connector & separate polyphonic pickups for direct control of Roland GR Series and Axon AX100 guitar synths. But most people won't want that. All in all, a very diff market niche, but a great way to get into the electric nylon market at a much lower price point. Ibanez builds good guitars. This looks like a better competitor than Fender's Acoustisonic. One downside I'd expect this will share with Godin's Multiaccs & Fender's Acoustisonic too: weight. These are all essentially electric guitars (albeit with & very shallow semi-hollow bodies) but they're built like electrics. Which means they're HEAVY. Nothing like a classical or standard acoustic guitar, which is a very light fragile soundbox made with extremely light wood panels. Not nearly as fragile either: your acoustic or classical guitar body is mated to a neck designed to take frighteningly high stresses. Still, there's a reason very few really old guitars exist: they're easily damaged by accident, humidity changes, or simply the tension of strings over time. These electric hybrids should be more robust but damn they're heavy, and anyhow, I don't think we should expect these things will become antiques: the electrical systems will age. So who has the best hybrid? Is Godin still the best option? (I suspect so). With everyone from Taylor to Fender jumping in to this niche, validating it - despite middling market success by Godin after all these years pushing the idea - guitarists now have a LOT of choice. Which is best for whom?
