I've got a clone of one of these that I run into my tweed deluxe. It's glorious, but I *did* swap the original 4 spring for a 6 spring tank, because it was just too splashy-twangy for me. I know splashy is kind of the point, but with the new tank, the depth and richness of the reverb is absolutely beautiful.
Great video on the reverb unit! I absolutely love tube reverbs and reverb units in general. I recently did and uploaded a video showcasing my AMT TH-1 pedal (AMT Tube Hall). Even though it isn't all analog and isn't a traditional unit, it still sounds amazing. Pairing it with a phaser unit makes it sound like a dream. Your video really inspired me to dive deeper into this topic.
Had an original one of these back in the sixties. Use it as a preamp to make my "dark" toned Silvertone (all I could afford) sound more like a Fender amp, even with the dwell knob turned off.
Bought one of the reissues just on Saturday! Absolutely loving it so far. Paul, you make is sound amazing. My thought process behind getting one was that why buy a digital recreation when the real thing is available? Totally worth it in my opinion.
Paul’s impatience is the best part of this. Haha! I have the catalinbread topanga which is supposed to be a digital emulation of this. Nothing beats real spring verb though.
Congrats and enjoy your Fender '63 Reissue Reverb Unit! I have a '64 Fender Reverb Unit and it's glorious. It doesn't leave home, so I use my SurfyBear Classic Reverb Unit, a reasonably affordable, modern incarnation of the Fender Reverb Unit. Sounds just as good as my Fender Reverb Unit. I also have a SurfyBear Reverb Compact that fits on pedalboards and while smaller, sounds just as good as its big brother. For surf tones, a lot of surf players have their reverb unit settings set to 6-6-6 or 7-7-7 (Dwell, Mixer, Tone) YMMV. I'm also smitten with Fender Brownfaceplate era amps - currently have a '62 Bandmaster (housed in a 2x10 combo cabinet), a '63 Bandmaster (head & 2x12 cab), and a '63 Showman (head & 1x15 Tone Ring cab). A modern version of that era is my Fender '62 Princeton Chris Stapleton Edition - sounds just as good as my old '62 Fender Bassman (sold to a friend). Not as loud, of course! :P
Yes .. this is the reverb sound i was looking for ... but money was an issue so me got the BOSS version of it which does come close to this beautiful reissue
My favorite reverb sound of all time, bar none! Very similar to my 63 Vibroverb RI.
Surfybear reverbs are by far the next best thing. Same drippy goodness. Smaller, lighter, more affordable, no tubes. From Surfy Industries (Sweden).
Exactly and more reliable. The difference is very very small.
I always turn up just to see and hear that NAMM strat, bloody glorious thing.
... totally agree!!!!! That Strat is spectacular! So much so that I've got all the parts over to my luthier for a 3 P90 Strat Partscaster build!

That sounds glorious. I’ve been looking forward to this one for a while! Denis is a wizard.

Cheers fella.

Very cool. Love that song too!
Amazing, plug ins can’t compete with this amp great video, I go and playing as per usual 👍

My Swart Atomic Space Tone has this magic. A++ Great sounds.

Awesome, thank you!

He does go on! 😀

Surfybear and Vermona make excellent and affordable spring reverbs. Behringer announced one too for 200€.
So luckily no reason to crave for the Fender

Just curious, which Boss version do you mean? As in a Boss reverb pedal?
@@GxBxN
I got the BOSS FRV-1. This is a Fender "licensed" (i.e. with a Fender logo) COSM version of this tube driven Fender reverb "head"
@@matzer8846ahh yes of course. I forgot about that range. Wish they still had those in production! Great pedals. Nice one 👌🏼
@@GxBxN You are absolutely right .. i still could kick myself for not getting the FBM (which is the Bassman pedal of that range) on time
Sounds sumptuous…lovely jubbly.
Dwell is not so much a “time” control for the reverb as it is a gain control depending how much signal is hitting the springs.
What p90’s are on the strat it sounds gorgeous
They are Seymour Duncan antiquities
Thank you sound really good as I know you like clarity in your tone
Yeah but that pink paisley p90 hollow strat!
Now, if you can just drive that thing through a 60w 3 x 10 cabinet (or get a Vibro King ), I can finally shut up about it …
