And at 13:15, it was out of tune, but you quickly yanked the bar back up to reset the strings. How does this compare to a Hantug Titanium tremolo? This tremolo looks great I may get it to try on my Dean Dime ML But it is a top mount floyd, not recessed, will this still work ok?
I'd agree with that, I've had probably 30+ guitars over the years with locking trems, I had a couple of Sabers with the ZR trems and they were definitely at the top - silky smooth, 100% stability and sounded great. I know some people don't like the feel of them though, as there's no clear 'neutral' spot you can feel as they're so ridiculously smooth.
Its very intriguing. I like that its made from solid stainless steel, as oppsed to cast parts that wear out. A little concerned with how low profile the fine tuner heads are- they look difficult to grab and adjust. Just initial observation though. Too bad it cant take a D-tuna.
Cool whammy tricks. Mattias Eklundh would be proud. :) This is cool but there is one problem. *Japanese made and other import guitars often use R8 locking nuts. R2-R3 nuts will be too tall. More Floyd Rose bridge system makers need to have an R8 nut as an option.* I often have to get around this by using *Floyd Rose R8 locking nuts with Schaller 1302 bridges, which often work together without buzzing.* *Does this also fit Ibanez bridges?* Most of the time when retrofitting cheaper Ibanezes, it is not guaranteed that Schaller/OFR/Gotoh bridges will fit without some wood work. *Also, I hope the trem works on narrower import bridge posts/mounting studs.* Many times the studs have to be removed and the holes re-drilled for the slightly larger Schaller/OFR/Gotoh bridge posts. So far I just leave the import posts in and the Schaller and OFR bridges work without shifting. I have not tried the Gotoh. So far, the only problem with this seems to be the lack of an R8 nut. A great design for sure. Thanks so much for showing this bridge.
theres probably several factors, but the most obvious i think would be the precision and quality of the knife edges. Cheaper cast ones are going to chip and wear, if only just very slightly at first, but enough to throw out of tune by a few cents (enough to notice). Cheaper springs that dont have 100% 'memory' (dont return to their contracted state completely), and nuts that allow string slippage. I think this being milled out of stainless would help alleviate quite a few of those issues, if the machining is precise enough, theoretically anyway.
Another factor is how you set it up. The angle at which the floating bridge sits, when viewed from the side, should be precisely parallel to the plane of the _strings,_ not to the guitar body. Most guitars have some angle and/or curve to them, so if you make your Trem conform to that, it won't stay in tune as well. Physics lol.
Great video. Can you give a link of stock guitars that come with this tremolo system please. Someone needs to make a guitar with this tremolo system with sustainiac pickups!!
Up to this moment, No, but Tremoline FT36 is usually used as a fully floating tremolo that means that if you install D-tuna you have to use only in pitch-down direction. Best,
Honestly, this is all well & good.... but I want to see someone go absolutely APESHIT on the bar ala Blackmore ( In Rock ) Uli Roth ( old Scorpions ) or Yngwie ( Marching Out, Trilogy ) ...... before I am convinced this system stays in tune. Those guys stayed in tune with old school Fender bridges....please show me, please. None of this mild dipping crap, I want real whammy madness/tuning stability. Thank you.
I have three questions. 1.) Will this system retrofit the spacing for a Floyd Rose Special tremolo? I’m looking for a replacement for the Floyd Special tremolos in my main guitars and I’m leaning towards the Gotoh GE1996T to replace them. If these retrofit the Special cavity, I’m going to VERY HEAVILY consider the Tremoline units. (EDIT: Question 1 answered. You have my attention!) 2.) Do they come in black? 3.) I use a slightly heavier gauge string for my low E string. I play in two tunings across two guitars - D standard and drop C. Will the low E slot on the locking nut fit gauges above .046? My low E gauge is .050.
Thank you for your kind attention and ordered questions! 1) answer - Briefly, yes (in cases of recessed FR top cavities). In some cases also in top mounted FR. Please, keep in mind, that there are some differences between different models cavity shapes because of usage of different guitar company’s cavities templates. 2) answer - Yes, we are preparing the next batch. It is a matter of a few weeks. Previous was sold unexpectedly very fast. 3) answer - There is no problem to use string gauge 12-52 (.012 - .052) because the nut string channels are 1.60 mm (.063”) wide. Thanks one more time for the questions!
Thank you for your kind attention and questions! Briefly, YES, but the result would not be better than with a locking nut. The result would be closer, but not even the same. Just a matter of physics - with “normal” nut friction points would be increased. The Tremoline locking nut eliminates the friction in the string-nut contact points.
Evolution (by means of countless smart engineering improvements) is the right direction describes this case. Multilayer saddles with hidden fine tuning spring, improved string locking mechanism, Sustain block with variable height (introduced by Tremoline in 2019, much earlier than any other), Noiseless spring springs without any powder coating (???) and foams, Tremolo arm without any backlash, clicking and etc. The list of the improvements can continue. It is a fact that FT36 is a real invention and it is visible in the USPTO (United States Patent and Trade mark Office) list of patents.

In the most of the cases, but only for Ibanez with spring cavities same as OFR. The next very important thing is the Pivot studs - OFR has M7x0.5 metric thread, Japanese - M6x1.0 metric thread. In case of replacing with the Tremoline FT36 you can use the Japanese old ones without any difficulties. The Baseplate of the FT36 has smaller footprint than OFR or copies and the similar Pivot stud distance - 74.2mm. Best,

The best double locking tremolo is the Kahler one. Does everything a Floyd does, has more adjustability, can be locked without the need of extra parts and requires very little material to be removed from the guitar body.
It's a great product but nothing really ground-breaking here. In terms of sheer innovation, it pales in comparison to Steinberger Transtrem (which was introduced in 1984!). Just better materials and some tweaks that you would expect from a €250 unit (+VAT, +shipping, +transfer fee). I like the intonation adjustment feature. But I don't like the fixed radius and the fact that you'll be dependent on the only source for parts/repairs.
Very good explanation, thanks! What does ground-breaking means? Yes, the Original Floyd Rose when appeared in the early 80’s was ground-breaking with the locking string concept. It is a fact. Yes, the Fender Synchronized tremolo when appeared in the middle of 50’s was ground-breaking with the floating tremolo concept. It is a fact. It is very interesting to imagine what would be the next “so call” ground-breaking innovation in Guitar industry - may be a guitar with only one button (the concept of Steve Job’s Apple iPhone) that after touching it, the guitar to start playing itself like Igor Paspalj without any efforts? Evolution (by means of countless smart engineering improvements) is the right direction describes this case. Multilayer saddles with hidden fine tuning spring, improved string locking mechanism, Sustain block with variable height (introduced by Tremoline in 2019, much earlier than any other), Noiseless spring springs without any powder coating (???) and foams, Tremolo arm without any backlash, clicking and etc. The list of the improvements can continue. It is a fact that FT36 is a real invention and it is visible in the USPTO (United States Patent and Trade mark Office) list of patents. Just a few words about Transtrem of Steinberger - yes, that tremolo is a brilliant example of the engineering achievement. It is a masterpiece of the engineering art, but it has only one almost invisible problem - lack of simplicity. Many of the guitar players will avoid to have guitar gear-box that they cannot adjust properly even for hours. Best,
Almost as good as a Kahler and is everything that the Floyd Rose is not. This is what the Floyd should have been to begin with. Now I need about 8 of them in left handed please.
The "inovations" remind me a lot of my Kahler killer wich is forgotten but youbcan adjust annything on that including stringspacing and has same intonation system. Big downside on that is that some allen bolts are extremely thin and that can be problematic when they get stuck after many years
Still it’s basically another FR copy with a ridiculous screw in type Fender original tremolo arm. Vega Trem has done away with all the locking bs is a unique style. I was skeptical at first until I installed the Vega Trem in my American Ultra Strat, unbelievable tuning stability without fine tuners or locking nut and sits level without any body cavity mods and floats with just as much travel up as down and simple smart design. I’ll never use a FR style locking tremolo again.
Thank you for your kind attention! If you had a minute to observe, analyze and understand the construction of the Tremoline FT36, you would not claim that it is another copy of FR. Yes, it is a retrofit of the FR, but not just a copy like most of the “so call” well known companies and the countless cheap and weak licensed copies of FR double locking. Everybody who has touched the tremolo arm of the FT36 has said that there is no any other trem arm with that feeling and precision. A few words about Vega Trem - yes, it is a step further and in the right direction over the Fender Synchronized Tremolo. There is a real achievement, but it has also his weak points… Thanks one more time for the opinion!
@@o.w.dobbins6927 There are no any problems with FR copy right issues. Just the Tremoline tremolo arm in this case has better and improved construction (compared to the old fashion FR) that leads to lack of backlash, clicking and the most important self-loosening. You can ask Igor Paspalj how he feels the Tremoline tremolo arm.
@@tremolineofficial I’ve never noticed any loosening or slack of all the FR’s I’ve used, just too damn cumbersome….I like being able to use my Fender locking tuners. I’m no longer a FR user regardless of any so called better version.
Dude, stop constantly moving it around and let your camera actually focus on the trem. I couldn't see what I was looking at for more than a half second. Did you watch the video before you posted it? Another thing you should have done is mentioned the price of the product. I was waiting to see if this was something I should consider buying but lets face it. Unless I know if it's in my budget, I'm probably just going to click the next video.
What surprised me... You did call this tremolo best ever... For decades the best ever tremolo is Floyd Rose Lo-Pro Edge (exactly this model of Floyd Rose) as per construction and stability used by many guitarist abusing tremolo up to the limit like Steve Vai... Interesting...
i dont get why they sell a Locking Nut radius from 10.0 to 12.0, and a Tremolo Unit radius of 16.0. Pure non sense or only good for compound guitar necks. Still waiting for a double locking system matching perfectly for 17 radius neck. I have a kahler locking nut in 17 and and floyd 1000 pro tremolo unit with saddles shims. it works but far from perfection
Everything depends of the string spacing and the string radius of the neck. When you have 36.0 mm string spacing between e-E and 12” radius on the nut and 52.0 to 54.0 mm string spacing of the bridge, the string radius of the bridge should be bigger than 12” if you want to have the same action under every string. It is just a simple geometry. Best,
Its a fulcrum tremolo. Same shit. Stop the cap. My 1990 jackson soloist is in its case still in tune. The tremolo is in mint condition and it does everything it needs to do and has for 35 years. Ibanez already made the intonation screws offset. The z trem has a ball bearing and not knife edges. Its all been done. Nothing new here.
Thank you for your kind attention! There is only one question - How the Tremoline FT36 was patented if it hadn’t new radical ideas? You can check the criteria for patentability in USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office) or in WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization). The right question here is how was achieved the lowest profile, playing convenience and tuning stability. The right answer is with the new and original ideas. Best,
$340.00 after VAT. It ain't cheap.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!🤭🙃
Almost as good as a Kahler and is everything that the Floyd Rose is not. This is what the Floyd should have been to begin with. Now I need about 8 of them in left handed please.
Whats wrong with floyd?
@@the.communist The Kahler is a better design; I have them both and I still prefer the Kahler. If you get one, you will understand.
I still have my Kahler from the early 80’s. Great trem.
@ Why the screw-in arm, maybe a FR copy right issue which I think is the fact?
Same price as 2 years ago.
What surprised me... You did call this tremolo best ever... For decades the best ever tremolo is Floyd Rose Lo-Pro Edge (exactly this model of Floyd Rose) as per construction and stability used by many guitarist abusing tremolo up to the limit like Steve Vai... Interesting...
five days too short to test. The trem test must be at least 3 months
i dont get why they sell a Locking Nut radius from 10.0 to 12.0, and a Tremolo Unit radius of 16.0.
It is a fact that Tremoline FT36 is a real invention. Thanks one more time for the opinion!
Gotoh cheaper
Cheaper does not mean better.
I bought a used Ibanez that had a genuine FR fitted to it in the mid '80s it was ok until I changed the strings and then I could not get it to stay in tune, this put me off them for life!
