This speaks to me! Finally found an old Gas Gas on Thursday, coincidentally before a trials competition this past weekend. I bought a trials bike, joined a club and competed within three days. Thanks to your vids I scored dozens of points in the Novice class, even as many as 5 on lots of sections, haha!
I try to incorporate a bit of entry-level "trials" riding everytime I hit the trails on my enduro bike. It has definitely helped keep me out of trouble. Thank you, Barry, for being a strong proponent of this style of riding.
Great plug for trials riding. I grew up competing in trials. I never became amazing at it, but I still use the skills and clutch control I learned on a trials bike every time I ride my RR300. You won’t find better people either. I’d love to get back into it with my kids.

Once again, an excellent video. This is still a dream here in Brazil. This modality is not popular here and trials clubs do not exist (actually, there are a few guys who do trials in one or two cities). As for the price, a brand new Sherco or Gas Gas costs abount R$39,000 (+/- US$9,800.00 !!!). A used one (in good keep) is not less than US$5,500.00.

Agree 100% with info on this vid, it’s very timely, when ever I get asked what should my first bike be! trails bikes always come to mind first, not YZ125s, 300 KTMs or even mini bikes. What you can learn on a trails bikes transfers to any other 2 wheeled endeavour. I was watching the Erzberg Rodeo over the weekend and age is something allot of people confuse around what bike to start on. At Erzberg they mentioned Manny Lettenbickler prob spelt that wrong) he finished 3rd his dad Andre was is one of the best,, anyways in the interview he started Manny at 5years old on a trials bike, 5 years old. Trials does not mean boring or uncool, in fact for younger gen it’s one way to get a major leap ahead of your mates. You are never too young or old for a trials bike but the skills learned ime you will gain in a year what it might take you five on an MX or Enduro bike if you are lucky and don’t develop poor technique and skills, unless you are just freaky lucky natural which is rare and still would miss allot of skills taught by a trials bike. As you say one of the cheapest forms of purchase and ownership esp second hand if you can find one, age does not matter either, you def don’t need the latest bike in trails. Best thing I ever did on a bike was spend a year out of MX as a kid and a year in Trials. Good vid and topic.
I went to a Beta demo a couple of weeks ago and got to ride a trials bike for the first time. It was completely different then what I was expecting and the bike felt a lot smaller then I thought it would. You are leaned forward a lot more so about a quarter of the way through the loop I had to stop and give my neck a rest but its most likely just something you have to get use to. My form was probably trash too.
My missus says I'm no longer allowed to watch your videos. She also says I'm not allowed to buy a trials bike. Don't worry, I'll still watch. She's not the boss of me!. If she catches me I'll just flick to another tab with Porn vids... But I do need some help coming up with a excuse for missing three grand and somewhere good to hide my new trials bike! :)
Shhhh... when she isn’t looking pull off a spark plug lead on the engine of her car, (maybe 2 because 1 might not be so obvious) when she says her car is not running right, tell her that Roger at work has the same car and it was the computer or something that needed replacing and Roger knows a guy who can get a cheap one for $600... while she’s not looking put the spark plug leads back on 👍 turn the tap off to the washing machine and unplug the water hose insert cork or something to stop water flow and turn water tap back on, missus will think the washer is stuffed, tell her Roger at work has the same washer and it was the pump that shat itself, luckily Roger has a spare for $400... so on and so on... hide the tv remote, Roger probably has a new unused one for $100... 👍 ** I’ll delete this comment after you have read it, I can’t let my missus know... I’m after a new helmet for myself 🤫 👍👍 I’ve gotta go and fix the microwave...

To be honest, the thought of this option left a dirty taste in my mouth! But I couldn't be arsed in the end (so to speak) so I'll take you advice and start finding lots of broken bits! Thanks! :)
There was a husband and wife who were going bad for money and the wife agreed to go down to the local corner and offer her services for a small fee. Until yesterday I had zero intrest in trials bikes. That is until I rode the Beta 3002T smooth power something or other at the Beta demo day tour here on Vancouver Island. What a fun bike to ride. Like a mountian bike with an engine. I can see a Beta trials bike in my near future.
It was a perfect day. Rained like hell the day before and then sun/clouds and 20ish degrees the day of. That 250 xtrainer got molested on Saturday (by me and many others). My next bike for sure but I will most likely get the 300 instead.

How long usually top/bottom end, gearbox last on 250,300 two stroke trials bikes ? Really looking forward to buying trials bike and enjoying some technical stuff, because on my Husaberg 570 its not really easy :D Greetings from czech republic
WRAction The bottom end rarely need a full rebuild (unless you rev it like mad) the top end is also very good as only need to replace the spark plug or the piston of you want a better performance

After these vids my trial numbers have gone up and iq numbers have gone down

A different skillset from motocross, but trials is definitely my preferred style to bring into enduro....

if you look after them i think they pretty much forever.... you would overhaul the suspension occasionally.
