Fantastic interview with John C. McGinley! I re-watched Platoon just to see what he was talking about. Too bad there was no discussion of "Office Space".
23:36 McGinley's body language during Vos' question was hilarious, he so didn't have the patience to sit through another one. He pressed the "stop talking" button and it worked
As annoying as Vos is, that was the douchiest, passive-aggresive thing i've witnessed in a very very long time. It made me INSANTLY dislike John. Too bad Vos is too big of a pussy to have called it out, I know A LOT of comedians that would have tore him a new asshole.
McGinley is one of those rare character actors who takes minor movie roles that ought to be completely throwaway, and he ends up being one of the most memorable parts of the movie: see The Rock, Surviving the Game, Office Space, Any Given Sunday, on & on...
I watched a video or read an article explaining what happened in Trading Places during the trading floor scene, and it turns out they were actually taking futures, which are promises to buy stock at a certain price in the future, and then once the crop report was given, and everybody there knew there wasn't anything driving up the price of CFOJ, because the weather hadn't damaged the crop, they began desperately trying to sell their futures to Winthorpe and Valentine, all this, of course, after Valentine delivered the false crop report to the Dukes disguised as Beeks, leading them to believe that the crop would be bad and thus the price would be high, resulting in them buying no matter how high the price went until the report was announced, convincing everybody else that they should do the same.
McGinley had some great stories on the "making of" documentary for Platoon. All of the actors interviewed were very candid and honest about their experiences on that film. Worth checking out the doc, if you're interested.
He seems like a "great in small dosages" type of guy to hang out with. That intensity has to be tiring for most people. Also he probably has genius level intelligence and can demolish you verbally in a second.
John Maksuta The thing that let the new medical school version down was Dorian and Turk. IMO They'd been played out. Parodies of parodies. John C. and the new cast were all great.
Jim, Sam, as a rule, don't have thirds in when you have a guest. The guest should be the main focus. Thirty minutes to talk to potentially really interesting people with great stories is hampered when you have thirds like Vos just eating up time that we could be hearing funny or entertaining stuff.
You must be new to radio. Having extra comedians in the room during interviews is a GREAT formula and has led to some of the greatest moments in radio. It just happened Vos face-planted here.
I like John McGinley but Sam in this is trying to be like Opie in a way. When I started listening to this and Sam said his full name it reminded me of Opie and that usually means at least to me that he doesn't know much or doesn't care.
its the "straight guy" syndrome that happens on alot of radioshows. Some , often, boring person that tries to be serious, keeping track of all the sections, maybe controlling the board - and generally seeing themselves as the one moving the show forward by not "goofing around" etc
Vos ostracises himself to the point where McGinley doesn't even want to look at him, and consciously tries to ignore him. *Look at Sam, Look at Jim, back to Sam, Back To Jim* *Vos starts talking* *John ignores him and talks over him* Edit: The douchechills increase exponentially as the interview goes forward as Vos blusters onwards, completely oblivious to the carnage he is sewing
kronker lol good that mush mouth. He's a funny dude but so hard to listen to his struggle to keep his teeth in his mouth. Always sucking spit back in. Gets annoying after awhile. No wonder why bonnie gets mad at him all the time.
He's hilarious and a great standup and has some killer shows from O/A and all the other shows but sometimes.....goddamn.....misses the mark completey and is totally unware of it and just charges forward despiite obvious negative feedback
I love Jhon but man he's intense!!! I'm an actor and I always have my lines memorized. But if I'm not doing nothing when they're setting up I like to look at them just in case. He would've scared the shit out of me if he said that to me
What the fuck is with the CU of McGinley at the 25 mark and on. LMK if you guys need a cam opp, or you know someone who knows how to hold a frame, jesus.
Talk Radio really is a hidden gem.
Amazing film. Half McGinley, half Bogosian
Talk Radio was really awesome.
The way he looks at Vos all sideways shaking his head saying "No...No" is so great.
TheBear as well he should, listening to him stammer and spit out his s words is enraging. Need a rain slicker just to sit next to him while he talks.
"Bob, I got a bad feelin' on this one alright? I mean, I got bad feelin'.
"Everybody got to die some time Red."
Bob: ....Ohhhhh.... 😂
Who else badly hoped Vos would tip his hat after that room-hushing bomb right off the bat?

i wish i had that button to push

😂😂🤣🤣
"I celebrate the guy's entire catalog."
ahhh that's where i know him from! man i love that movie. and that character.
I had no idea he was a stage actor. I respected him as a screen actor but man, this dude is on a whole other level.
I fucking love Talk Radio! A very underrated film!

I still remember him from Platoon
Platoon is a movie who can make you be happy even if you will never make another movie again.
Such a great actor. One of the most underrated great actors ever.
One of my favorite guests you’ve had.
Between Sam L Jackson, Steve Buscemi & Dr. Cox -- they have been in every movie ever made from 1991 - now
He's phenomenal in "Stan Vs. Evil," which is a brilliant, underrated show.

Like the Rothschild's
I Love John McGinley!! Excellent Actor!! 👍👍👍👍
Piper 1027 and a great interview. Seems like a very down to earth fellow.

Bob, I got a bad feeling on this one, alright? I mean a baad feeling. I don't think I'm gonna make it outta here.😢
Everybody gotta die sometime, Red.😐
What are you saving up to be, Jewish?
Great stuff guys
It was brilliant on Stone’s part to keep the lighter goof in, it looked so natural. I thought it could have been intentional even.
Scrubs and the dirty comedian I wasn’t supposed to be listening to when I was 8 when we were on roadtrips. A childhood mashup I didn’t know existed
He's been in every movie I have ever seen. Scrubs was his funniest role ever.
Mikey B. You should probably watch some more movies then..
Platoon is the best most realistic war movie ever. I will argue that till the day I die.
Underated actor.. he's great
Lol when he talks about blinders, he's probably wishing he had some so he wouldn't have to look or converse with vos.
Fav McGinley roles are of the henchman variety, in cult classics like _The Rock_ and _On Deadly Ground_
Man, McGinley seems like the kinda guy who is "on" 24/7. A very intense man, but damn is he entertaining.
He seems like a "great in small dosages" type of guy to hang out with. That intensity has to be tiring for most people. Also he probably has genius level intelligence and can demolish you verbally in a second.
he never ages
1997 movie: Intensity very underrated.
Would love to see John C. McGinley
Work with Oliver Stone again
For a 7th time
Rich with the New York dolls shirt, nice!
Rich comes out swinging haha
"Pleasure is all on this side of the table"
Scrubs was such a great show. The reboot would've been cool too, but it got blasted somehow.
John Maksuta The thing that let the new medical school version down was Dorian and Turk. IMO They'd been played out. Parodies of parodies. John C. and the new cast were all great.
the cigarette lighting mistake starts around 40 seconds in: ruclips.net/video/LqpKJ1wAmYY/видео.html
the real MVP
Vos: "You read Jshohn?"
Whooooo?
Rocking the Cleveland hat Fuck yeah bitches
The way vos looks him over from 00:06 to 00:09 is disturbing.
"If hshee falls ded I wonder what trinketsh he has"
Sam Bbk 😆
nice hat
He's wearing the infamous "STU" headphones, heh.
They still forgot the PID.

WEIRD SHIT! Just opened this and Platoon just started 5 minutes ago. Now I have to watch the whole movie
Hi name is Rich Voschssss.
Talented dude, definitely underutilized.
Can't believe the last thing I saw him in was "Wild Hogs"... fucking abomination.
1:16 That's a common response to a Vos joke.
2:56 in and confirmed Rich Vos is annoying me as usual.
20:26 if Dr Cox was an actor thats something he'd say to JD...
I like John McGinley but Sam in this is trying to be like Opie in a way. When I started listening to this and Sam said his full name it reminded me of Opie and that usually means at least to me that he doesn't know much or doesn't care.

You read John?
The guy next to McGinley is an actor right?
MrVideoyoulike Sure he is. He did a gig with Chaz Palminteri
conradsz Yeah it was something about beans or something..
MrBurtmacklin LOUIE!! beans!!!
John seems like an intense bro, but "there's no other bro I would rather have next to me in my platforms" #pacino
21:30 "Fuk you Vos."
McGinley is an intense guy..but great interview.
He has a stick up his ass for sure. Everybody is praising him but this interview made me dislike him lmao
Interview wasn't long enough
'Goddamn' is a swear word in the US? Pahahaha.
here is the cigarette lighting scene John is talking about in Platooon @ 27:56
ruclips.net/video/LqpKJ1wAmYY/видео.html (its at 43 seconds in)
So Vos has embraced hole status now?
ShinRyojin Not really, he likes shooting the shit when there is a comedian on but with actors he shows interest by asking novice questions
who else wishes ant was here for this
what do you think jim, think a man like vos make it out there in the shit. ah huh ah huh thats exactly what i thought to
Vos is such a creep when John walks in
I love Jhon but man he's intense!!! I'm an actor and I always have my lines memorized. But if I'm not doing nothing when they're setting up I like to look at them just in case. He would've scared the shit out of me if he said that to me

How about those Cleveland Indians
Wow what a way to ruin a great interview by shaking the camera like a 5 year old playing with moms cell phone for the first time.
Vos is the hole!
'it was bullet proof'.....
sad
Pretty sad when Jim Norton has better hair then you(Sam)
doesn't even look vos in the eyes lol...
Wow, Vos really just needs to fade into obscurity, he has for a long time now. He is desperately clinging onto anything he can to stay afloat.
Needle duck commie
SCRUBS
Sam is awful.
No, Opie is awful.
GreenGearMood Opie enabled Sam's awfulness
