    Great review as always! Though my OCD would like to suggest that when you show the bar graphs, sort the computers from best to worst. This will make it easier for us to compare the review model with other laptops.

    **forehead slap** I bought one of these recently, used for $120. I'm watching your review and you mention the backlight... wait a minute, what?? I'm looking if mine has one, I just assumed it didn't! I had to look it up, but it's function/space! Maybe that's common on ThinkPads but this is my first one. I feel a little silly that I didn't realize it had a backlight, but so glad it does! For light use and a little sketching, this laptop is still perfectly usable in 2024, especially for the low prices they can be had.

    Hi Andrew. I agree with most of your comments except the one related to the web cam. I believe that a premium device like this one should have a better web camera. I understand that most brands give little relevance to this area. In general I also believe this is an awesome device even up to today standards. Thanks for your videos I love your professional approach and excellence. Keep up the good work.

      To be honest, I've never used my webcam on my laptop for like 5 years now, so I don't really care when making a choice.

    • @ferdinis
      @ferdinis 5 лет назад +1

      I would agree with you if we were talking of a budget or mid price device. In this case we are talking about a unit that could reach 2K$. I believe premium devices with premium prices should have at least decent components and I don’t believe that is the case. Specially if we refer a unit that can be used as a mobile device mainly used when traveling. There is no justification for the price point of this device. May be not a deal breaker for some people... in my point of view we should be a bit more demanding in this case...

    I’m stuck between choosing these 2 laptops:
    1) Lenovo Yoga C930
    2) Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Yoga (latest version)
    Budget is not too big of an issue, and I want a way to write notes in tablet mode in college.
    Any advice? Thanks.

    Hi +Andrew Marc David,
    The laptop you reviewed is $1700 !!!
    The ~$1300 laptop comes with i5 processor and FHD display.
    I see most of RUclipsrs do this, they show listing of the least price Base trim model($1300) but the actual review is made on expensive high end trim model (~$1700).
    Even after discounts the expensive trim model are still expensive... for most of consumers

    I love the Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Yoga. Beautiful device. I wish it had an option for dedicated graphics, even a low end card like the MX250. It would really make it the ultimate device for content creators. What do you think of the X1 Yoga vs. X1 Extreme for 4k video editing?

    I'm looking at this and the C930. I'd be curious to know what you think: if you had to pick one, which would you pick? I'm leaning toward this for the faster processor, better battery life and Thinkpad ruggedness. But the C930 has true 4k, the option of a 2 tb ssd and while it doesn't have as many warranty options, comes in at $400 cheaper. While $400 is still $400 I also want to have the best as I want it to last for longer than 3 years and handle travel (like international). And I was very surprised that I liked the silver on the Thinkpad. Would love your opinion :) Not gaming on this. Development work, likely some MS Office, Affinity photo, forex trading (when I'm not tunneling into my desktop) and maybe some 3d with Blender.

    • @karaygeoushearts
      @karaygeoushearts 5 лет назад

      Do you like the feel of metal or carbon fiber? The C930 has a metal exterior, of which I'm not personally a fan. As I writer, I hate typing on cold metal. I also didn't care for the keyboard. It's very stiff and shallow. The C930 has better sound because of the new hinge, which is its stand out feature, but I ended up returning it. Those things may not be a dealbreaker for you.
      If you're interested in the X1 Yoga, like me, it may be worth it to wait until the back to school sale season. In June, Lenovo will launch the 4th gen X1 Yoga, which will make the 3rd gen go on sale, especially during promotions and holidays. The 5th gen Carbon is currently 49% off.

    Why wouldn't it be great in 2019? It's basically a year or two old. Try saying that to a 2014 era Lenovo and you'll find even 3rd and/or 4th gen i5/i7's still perform perfectly fine.

      @@andrewmarcdavid In June, the 7th gen Carbon & 4th gen Yoga will launch. In July, the 2nd gen Extreme will the 4k HDR Oled screen option will launch. The new Extreme sounds AMAZING! I can't wait. Although, I love the X1 Yoga. I'm not excited for 4th gen, which will be made of aluminum. As a writer, I like the feel of carbon fiber. I hate typing on a cold metal laptop. The good news is that when the aluminum version launches, the current version should go on sale. The 5th gen Carbon is on sale for 49% off right now.

      @MissMerc007 5 лет назад

      I use both daily. Both are about the same size. Both are light weight. We often use the X1 without the battery when we are on the go. But I prefer the X1 Yoga because of the touch screen and I want it for illustrations. If you dont need touch screen and drawing capabilities, go with the X1. But if you need touch screen and drawing ability go with the X1 Yoga.

  • @samuelmurillo2244

    RUclipsrs singing the praise of Lenovo may be doing so based on the Thinkpad legacy from IBM. Lenovo's quality has not only gone down but they were recently ranked 2nd to dead last from Laptop Magazine. People on Reddit who love Thinkpads are complaining about problems a lot lately with build quality, the powder coating coming scraping off the edges, poor battery life, noisy fans and tons of backlight bleed even on their flagship P1. Much of the complaints are coming from The X1 Carbon, X1 Extreme and the P1. Lenovo simply won't help customers and when they replace machines during the return period Lenovo makes the customer wait several weeks to get their replacements. Time to move onto other brands because Lenovo is NOT IBM when it comes to the Thinkpads. I speak from experience with 3 faulty X1 Carbons.

    • @GudieveNing
      @GudieveNing 5 лет назад +1

      If you compare the insides of this machine (shown in the video when Andrew removes the base) to a MacBook, you can see why the Lenovo has issues with reliability despite versatile features and pleasing external appearance. It's a mess! I just saw an i5 16 GB RAM 512 GB SSD HDR Resolution Display X1 Yoga Gen 3 used for £900 (£1800 new for that spec!) and was thinking about it as a travel machine for business with my main machine being a 2019 8 Core i9 MacBook Pro, but if it's going to be unreliable, a bit concerned! Am going to be blunt, based on my experience with 2 out of 3 DJI drones being faulty at purchase, and my Phantom 4 Pro camera gimbal being unreliable, that Chinese QA is not up to scratch, despite effective industrial design and marketing.

  • @MissMerc007
    @MissMerc007 5 лет назад

    I went for this version also, because I need it for illustratios and also the huge amount of ports it has compared to other drawing laptops of a similar price. When the keyboard retracts, that is awesome. The down side is the graphics card, but when watching movies it' s great. I haven't plsyed any gsmes on it yet.

      dedclownsRfunny I’ve been comparing the two recently, trying to decide. The X1 yoga has a better keyboard (like my x1 carbon) and has the red finger cursor. This also has the newer i7 8650u, vs the C930 with the 8550. Other than that there isn’t much difference. The C930 has amazing speakers but that isn’t something I’m interested in

      Jay Lakhani I ended up chatting with a Lenovo rep and they said the x1 yoga is more business oriented, built for more travel, and better keyboard. You’ve pretty much confirmed that, too. I know it's 2022 but these things are coming off lease and I got a barely used one. The keyboard is the worst of any Thinkpad I've ever owned, and I've owned them since the days of the T20. It is much worse than the Yoga 460 keyboard. It is a mushy inconsistent piece of junk. You might as well buy an Acer. It's a sad day when Thinkpads have bad keyboards.
