- My entry into the April 2014 Great Cakes Soap Challenge...
Video lighting and quality on this one isn't great...guess it goes with the territory when filming in the wee hours of the morning...hope you get the gist of it and enjoy nonetheless :)
I used a triple butter recipe and whipped up a three layer, strawberry lemon soap cake with fluffy buttercream icing...yum!

What a joy to watch you make that beautiful soap!

Thank you also! I just checked on their Etsy website and it looks like they are in the process of moving and having a house built. Possibly returning in August? CDA SoapWorks on Etsy.com. I hope you can find one soon!
BodyCareBoutique Thank you for the info! I currently have one of those acrylic ones and while it works "okay", it doesn't seem to be as well designed as the wooden one from CDA...will definitely be looking them up again over the summer!
Absolutely! I am very happy with theirs. I've heard of others being really happy with them too. I hope you can get a good one soon! :-) Mel
Hi! I just came across MacksMolds on Etsy., and noticed he makes soap planers. This is the first time I've seen his site, so I don't have personal testimony on his products, but it looks like he makes a lot of great soap tools! :-)

I love your work love your icing! Are you self taught
+Lorri Boyce Thanks Lorri, yes, I'm self-taught :)
It looks like your cake base is completely set before you pipe it. Do you find that the layers have trouble with separating? Do you have any tips for keeping them together? I've made a bunch of soap cakes but it's been a while and I don't remember if the layers stayed together without issue or not.
Oh, and it's absolutely beautiful! I made a real cake like this and it was so fun. I can't wait to make a soap cake like this! Very inspirational. In fact, I adore ALL your soaps! And your videos are the best. I love that there is no talking. Just relaxing, enjoyable music, with great soap being made. Talking videos are great if you're just learning.....but I've been soaping for almost 10 years and now I just want to enjoy the process. Keep up the great work!
Christina Ray Thanks so much Christina, I appreciate the kind comments. I didn't experience any separating with this cake. I waited until it was ready to unmold and then piped...about a 15 hour window.
Are these soap cakes meant to be used? Do you make it cold process and then cure them? When would you cut it? I love it, but would have a problem of spending a lot of money on materials and oils to make the soap, but not use it.
regina kennedy Hi Regina, yes, they are most definitely meant to be used :)
@Soap Queen, thank you Anne-Marie!!! 💗
I have a question, how long do you wait for the soap to harden a little bit before you can put it on the cake? What soap did you use?
Which nozzle did you use to pipe? This is a beautiful soap :)
+greenjellibean it kinda looked like a star nozzle
how many time tu use soap
tanks
what tip did you use? I love it.
+Cassandra Morehouse It looks like a 1M tip from Wilton.
Would you be kind enough to give me the name of the background track. Thanks
