Piles is one of my favorite plants. I have 1 mother plant that has 6 little babies still attached and 5 cuttings in separate pots. Creating a new plant family regularly.
Isn't it nice when you finally get it right? Believe it or not, I struggle with some Sansevieria, aka snake plants, and everyone says how easy they are. My problem was over watering.
My sister has one and it put out so many babies, and usually I am pretty bad with plants so she hesitated to give me one but eventually she did and guess what? Mine is thriving and doing so well, it grew so much! For me it’s an easy one to keep.
Suzanne here, i do not have good luck with these, leaf drop every one i ever had, but i found out if i water it more that stops it, i have a very large one i got on amazon that is doing well but still with the leaf drop so i am watering more to avoid that problem by keeping it on the moist side
Not only a plant but the largest genus of flowering plants in the Urticaceae nettle family!! If anyone mentions it, you should say the genus name was given in honor of one of your ancestors 🤣
I have noticed/ Noted that this my pilia actually really thrives in my east sliding doors.. My apt is Northeast, and I found my pilea- (pileas, because I have got babies.. lots of them now } actually really enjoys sitting to the northist side but access to the east sunning as it moves in the morning, onwards to its[the sun's] south.. VERY happy... with MANY babies.
I love the look of this plants and how it makes it’s own baby ones which makes it fun to propagate from what I’ve seen on RUclips. I just got a small one yesterday so I can see it grow. I notice a tiny baby one peeping through the soil with a few leaves. When I checked the roots, it was root rotted :( so badly. Very disappointed in the mom and pops shop and it wasn’t that cheap for a small plant. I tried to save it by watering out the soil and break up the rotted roots and accidentally broke a few of the good tender white thick roots which I assume to be baby ones in the making? Anyways, I did my best to revived it and hope it will be okay. Thanks for sharing the videos on this plants. Love your One Plant a Day videos.
I actually broke out into applause when you described it as "unremarkable". I feel so much better now! I love all my plants but I simply can't understand the fanatical cult following this one enjoys.
When you mentioned the humidifier... did it make the leaves curl? I had it near mine and the leaves began to curl a bit. I didn’t know if it was that or lack of light
I knew of this plant's existence at a relative's house. I saw those perfectly round and thick leaves and fell in love, but my anxiety got the best of me and I couldn't ask for a cutting
Thanks for your video, and I wonder if you can help, please. I have a small one and its leaves got really pale and wonder why. Would you please give me advice? Thank you.
I left for six months for work and someone was taking "care" of my plants but now that I'm back most of them are dead or agonizing, including my pilea. She was so robust and perfectly round and now is just a long big stem with 5 leaves at the top. I was thinking of cutting that final top part of the stem and root it on water, but then I wondered what should I do with the remaining stem? can I propagate it on soil? (I've seen you can do that with some plants, like dumb canes). I can't find anything online since the traditional way of propagation is by repotting the babies or by a stem that already has leaves. SOS!! :(
hey Summer! Great vids. I always watch your videos, even when I'm not logged into RUclips. This is my first comment! I watch your videos every single day. I know you love your FLF and peperomia plants. Please do a top 10 favourite plant video :). Also, my pile pep bottom leaves are turning yellow. Why is this please? I cut them off. Thank you :)
Hi Summer ~ very helpful! I have one of these, a small one, that has a coupe of babies. I'm planning on sharing with my daughter and sister when they're bigger. Do you advise transplanting them into a bigger pot to get better growth? Mine is in the same pot I bought it in. Thank you for sharing!
I think I have this plant, however, mind leaves are bigger as my hand. Also is growing very tall, to the point that falling. The trunk is very thickening and looks more like a tree. Is there another plant that's similar to what I mentioned?
I rotate mine every other day, and it's full and even all the way around. I prefer a more uniform look. And, it prefer sunlight and water may be 7 to 10 days
Can you do a # of 365 of the heart shape fern (Hemionitis Arifolia )I just got one but I am struggling with it and I don’t see that many heart shape fern care I have a couple of brownish yellow tips and I am not sure if I should cut them also how would I be able to propagate them ....
We hv similar species in India that we can eat and its good for memory, it has medicinal properties. We make curry of these leaves. That love the water.
Mine is looking good with being green and also growing tall..but a lot of people seem to have theirs look full even when they are tall, but mine looses the bottom leaves.
Well, I have 90% humidity everyday here in the tropics.. and the light is really bright anywhere near a window in any direction tbh. I find that my baby has much paler leaves than yours.. but it's just an aesthetic thing? Because he's still throwing out new leaves and getting taller. One weird thing that happened once was he managed to saw through one of his stems on the edge of the pot when he started to droop.. that was a sad day.
I'm really not sure? One grower recently told me that this plant just doesn't do well outside in the tropics. He suggested I bring it into an air conditioned but bright space and to basically treat it like a succulent. His advice seems to work though; it's been looking a lot better than it was just 2 weeks ago.
i never had good luck with these, sadly, mine did not spread and or multiply they just dropped dead haha most of the time i see these in bright window sills, they do well there if i ever get another next time i will know, they need bright light
She said this was a unremarkable plant, I think it's the only reason people even acknowledge peperomia which I think are unremarkable. I like Alocasia myself
i killed the last one, ugh, but i got a new one, i have not touched it in a week or watered it, i keep mine under grow lights , i am puzzled as to wheater if i should water it or not, it is rather dry, but i did bust the pot when i took it out of the box it came in, so i put in a cache po and am leaving it a lone for a week or two till it setttles, from the busted pot haha, it was stapled to the box, and boy did i have to yank to get it out haha, it is a GiANt, and i do mean giant, i got for 10 dollars on amazon, i dont want to loose this one hehe
Aside from all of the plant knowledge, her vocab range is also massively impressive 😍 I swear I learn a new word every time I watch these! 🤓
Your pronunciation of the Pannenkoeken plant is perfect.
Just gave 3 away to my friends and more growing....SPREAD THE PLANTS!👍I have over 40 house plants and this one is my favorite for that reason
Piles is one of my favorite plants. I have 1 mother plant that has 6 little babies still attached and 5 cuttings in separate pots. Creating a new plant family regularly.
We just got a teeny-tiny one, it's adorable
Me to
It's probably huuuuge by now!
Who can dislike this video. These vids are awesome.
I had been seeing this plant all over instagram and pinterest over the last 2 yrs, thanks for talking about this plant Summer.
This plant is on my wish list, I'm still looking for one. Thank you again Summer, loving this series.
I think I finally figured mine out. I really struggled with these!
Isn't it nice when you finally get it right? Believe it or not, I struggle with some Sansevieria, aka snake plants, and everyone says how easy they are. My problem was over watering.
Would u mind sharing how u care for it. I just got one
Tnx Summer you got me into adding houseplants now to my succulents
PANNENKOEKEN PLANT HEEUUUUY!!! Nederlanders waar zijn jullie?
hieroooooo
Hierr
Ik spreek nederlands
Excuse me?
Hierooo
This is been such a challenge for me. I'm still not successful! Thanks for the Care info.
I have mine in a south facing window and it leans reaching for more light! Its growing in so full
I love mine! Caution, as too close to the light source will burn the leaves pretty badly.
Mine came with spider mites 😣 killing off the mites definitely seems to have set mine back but I hope it recovers!
My sister has one and it put out so many babies, and usually I am pretty bad with plants so she hesitated to give me one but eventually she did and guess what? Mine is thriving and doing so well, it grew so much! For me it’s an easy one to keep.

Thank You! For the Information.
Its pretty awkward to see my surname as a plant
Not only a plant but the largest genus of flowering plants in the Urticaceae nettle family!! If anyone mentions it, you should say the genus name was given in honor of one of your ancestors 🤣
OMG, you heard all my cries mine is losing all her leaves I DON'T KNOW WHAT DO.
My grocery store had some this last weekend and I couldn't resist!
One of my favourites !!
Oh, I had it directly beside my south west facing window directly above a humidifier. No wonder I was having so many issues with mine

Your mention of NL made me so happy haha :D REPRESEEEEENT

Update…did you save it?
@@chicnoir29 Yes 😊. It was very happy and I gave some of the babies away.
@@ShineBright-yz2ot That’s excellent news, thanks for responding. I’m hoping I can keep my pilea alive.
@@chicnoir29 🙏
I actually broke out into applause when you described it as "unremarkable". I feel so much better now! I love all my plants but I simply can't understand the fanatical cult following this one enjoys.
Same here. I think they are cool looking, but they just don't do it for me.
@@LeeDfined Thanks man. Glad to know I'm not alone on this one.
When you mentioned the humidifier... did it make the leaves curl? I had it near mine and the leaves began to curl a bit. I didn’t know if it was that or lack of light
Always love your video
I just brought this plant home.. 😂 gorgeous & so unique
got my first one today too! grabbed a matte white pot for it before I got home as well :D hows yours doing!?
I knew of this plant's existence at a relative's house. I saw those perfectly round and thick leaves and fell in love, but my anxiety got the best of me and I couldn't ask for a cutting
I just ordered this plant so this was perfect timing!! Also I love your videos ❤️!
Thanks for your video, and I wonder if you can help, please. I have a small one and its leaves got really pale and wonder why. Would you please give me advice? Thank you.

I'd leave the stem ,don't cut and just look after it. You might get babies from it :)
Haha, your dutch is funny 🤣 Do it more!

Mines doing great got it a year ago from my local nursery in the Netherlands and it is huge and I would geuss he produced about 50 babies in 1 year
Did you bring this plant on a plane then? I would like to take mine back home with me to Canada from Europe. Is this easy to do?
I wonder how old this particular plant is. They tend to be slow growers if I'm not mistaken.
Hey, how come you plant your plants so deep into the pot? I typically like the whole plant exposed but does it provide more humidity or something?
You want to plant them deeper so you can water them easily :) but I think its up to your taste..
One of my favourite plants, having troubles with mine in the uk but I’m trying my best to give it the best conditions. X
I am in the US and would love one. Looked for it the other day. New friend Ruthie
I killed mine in less than a month...Not sure what I did wrong but I think I repotted it too soon??
I was thinking of buying one of these guys, however; the leaves usually have spotting on them. Do you know what that is?
Thanks for the video! The leaves of my PP are curling down, or curling in, do you know what the reason may be?

Can you start a little one in a much larger pot then it came in? Or will that shock it? 🙂
Jaaaa pannenkoekenplant 💕

natalia Pereira I’ve struggles with this one too. I’ve banished it to the outdoors... it has to want to live now!
zanyzana66 lol It breaks my heart it is a cool plant
I want one of these so bad!!!
Did you get one?
I don't have this one. Informations will be useful in the future. Thank u dear. See u tomorrow.
Yes!! Finally!
why do you have it in such a huge pot and how do you have space for that big of a pot for such a small plant?
We hv similar species in India that we can eat and its good for memory, it has medicinal properties. We make curry of these leaves. That love the water.
How can you propagate if your plant does not produce pups?
How do you handle customs when you bring plants into the states from abroad?
Succulent Succotash in her last video about it, she mentioned she got it when she was abroad, but mailed it to her home in the US
Another plant I don't have. Maybe some day🌿
Mine is getting brown in the middle of a green leaf and then falls of, all lower leaves . It’s new so maybe adjustment????
Mine is looking good with being green and also growing tall..but a lot of people seem to have theirs look full even when they are tall, but mine looses the bottom leaves.
Mine is growing yellower pale leaves. What do I do?

Hi, what fertilizer do you use on this plant?
She uses on of Espomas, can't remember the exact one but she shows it in her other and longer video about this plant 🌿💚
i never had good luck with these, sadly, mine did not spread and or multiply they just dropped dead haha most of the time i see these in bright window sills, they do well there if i ever get another next time i will know, they need bright light
Still expensive here in the Philippines. They usually come from Holland, a pot is at $80!
C est très drole j en ai acheté une cet après midi!!!!☺🌱
I named mine "Dimples".
When i got mine a few of the leaves had black bumps i cut those leaves off idk what it was
I love my Pilea plant but she is one sassy plant in my opinion. I'm still trying to figure her out
In Sweden it’s called Elephant ear 🇸🇪
How dose it make momey
Nowhere to be found down here in Brasil!!!!
Is pilea the same as asiatica?
She said this was a unremarkable plant, I think it's the only reason people even acknowledge peperomia which I think are unremarkable. I like Alocasia myself
You'd think they were made of gold, such is the price and difficulty in getting them in Australia at times.
Wish I could send you some. They are so cheap in NJ. Well10-12 dollars a piece but a nice size. Tiny ones for 3 dollars
Already killed 2 of these! I cannot figure them out!
Can you bring a plant back on an international flight? ✈️
whoa...is it even allowed? at custom in SFO we were asked if we have plants with us.
i killed the last one, ugh, but i got a new one, i have not touched it in a week or watered it, i keep mine under grow lights , i am puzzled as to wheater if i should water it or not, it is rather dry, but i did bust the pot when i took it out of the box it came in, so i put in a cache po and am leaving it a lone for a week or two till it setttles, from the busted pot haha, it was stapled to the box, and boy did i have to yank to get it out haha, it is a GiANt, and i do mean giant, i got for 10 dollars on amazon, i dont want to loose this one hehe
Why are my leaves cracking ?
i have never been able to keep one alive, ugh, i have had 2 and both died , so i wont be getting another, too much hassell for me
This plant is much cheaper now.
