My pilea also perked up when I stopped letting it completely dry out. I even moved it out of a terra cotta pot because it was drying out too quickly. The leaves were curling in. Now my plant is happy with big, perky leaves.
Houseplants are a lot of fun to grow but it would be even more fun if they could talk and ask their caretaker for water when they need or want it or to say they need to move to different light setting. Oh well, experimenting to find the optimal care for a plant is not only fun but interesting also.
I know you may not see this but ive just inherited a pilea that is probably 25 years old and its down to one last branch. How do I keep it alive and bring it back from the brink?

Love it! yours is happy, I struggled with mine as well....I recentley cut mine and rooted in water and it rooted so fast so I am excited to repot and I do have a baby growing in a different pot but it is too far from window so I need to move that one closer to light! Thanks for the tips! I used cactus soil, store bought, I read online it is a good choice....so we will see what happens...I am so excited to see your new set up and where all your plants will live...you do not seem stressed so you must like your new house and it must have lots of windows for all your babies! My leaves would always curl under and never flatten out like a pancake until i started watering it when it was about 50% dry instead of waiting for it to completely dry out.
My friend gave me a pup and it had grown some leaves and I was rooting. I finally repotted it after awhile into a little pot and within a week all of the leaves but one just fell off
Oh, haha it’s a little piece of bendable wire I used to help the stem from leaning over. I need to get a better stake for it since it’s getting taller! 💚💚
Hi, I hope I'm not too late on this video to get a possible answer. I bought a huge money plant a few months ago, and it was doing fantastic for a while. Then out of nowhere, 50% of all the leaves fell off in the span of 2 days, and what remained was super weak... I stopped watering it and kept it in a window that doesn't get direct light (I used to water every 7 days) But it didn't help. After a MONTH of no water the soil beneath the surface was STILL damp, and the plant was frantically losing all its old leave and shooting out a bunch of new ones on the top. Nearly all the pups died. I finally repotted it, and discovered the whole bottom of the pot was nearly MUD and full of earth worms. Apparently who I got it from had planted it in dirt from outside.... The only roots remaining were no longer than half an inch, if anything. So now after 2 weeks in the new soil + fertilizer , it only has leaves left on top that it's been TRYING to grow but they all grow upside down, flop over, and are wrinkly beyond belief. I only give it a tiny bit of water when the top soil is dry, like every 3 days or so, but it's not getting better.

My rule. Don’t repot any new plant for one year. You should have just left it
@Cashew Is not a nut well, it was in a tiny teacup when she gave it to me, so that wasn't really gonna work
@@leannschaffnit7376 Fair enough. If the teacup didn’t have drainage, it likely rotted. Anyhoo.. I stick by my rule and it seems to work.

Mix in Leca, lots. Works wonders.
