LOL at the Ford Tempo commercial. My grandparents owned a Ford Tempo, I think it was like '82. Every cold Canadian winter morning (I'm talking like -30C and even colder), my grandmother would turn the car on with the gas pedal pinned to the floor. She was convinced that this was the best way to get the car warm quickly. I recall my grandfather yelling at her from the bathroom window (on the toilet) to stop revving a cold engine. Got a good two years out of that car.
😂 your grandfather yelled from the window while sitting on the toilet lol. That's hilarious! That car must be a real piece of dump for it to last only 2 years
'Pizza Pizza' we never had in Peterborough in the late 70s and early 80s yet it was the destination of choice when we went to Toronto. The same as City-TV, only available on UHF with John Roberts (very long before Fox-News). I remember all of these early 80s commercials, always part of '20 Minute Workout', 'the Alan Thicke Show' and 'SCTV'. Nonetheless they formatted a lifestyle which existed at the time. It rocked without question.
@Sleepy Jones I have a couple of shows up (a soap opera and a Canadian episode of Sesame Street). But for Canadian shows, please check out Retrontario!
The Labatts Blue beer commercial brings me back. My first beer was Labatts 50 ale. Beer commercials then had a story line and a catchy jingle. Not anymore. However Dave was the one who made Toronto and his announcement on late great movies.
At 2:18, John Roberts, currently of Fox News (J.D. Roberts to Torontonians) at the news desk. We recall J.D. as a CityTV' "New Music" host. Clean cut & already dated looks, he stood out against the rock & rollers he talked to. Proof of his incongruousness came later, when he blasted Punk Rock "as the opposite of music". He was so uncool then & still to this day, as just another Fox stooge. Joe Strummer, in his punk prime,1977, looked like he was about to smack J.D. out for looking so phony in their interview
I enjoyed the slices at PPizza in the 90s. Had not had it in 27 years until they opened up a PP here on the west coast a mile from my house. I picked up a couple slices after they opened a couple months ago and it was absolutely terrible lol. disgusting cardboard. meanwhile Dominos is exactly the way it was in these still, a guilty junk food pleasure.
Wow, I miss having fake pizza at real prices - well not really. JD Roberts just out of his undercover narc phase. And more lemons for sale than at a limoncello festival. Shame about Mark Daly going so young though. I'd say they were good times but they weren't.
After decades of watching tv I finally got rid of cable, bell, whatever. Now here I am on RUclips.... watching the same old commercials over again.
You're welcome. 🙃
Remember CITY TV was "Everywhere!"

@@besmajubran5244yes but was $6000 less than an accord
Mark Daly’s Voice !!👍🏻
I'm so lost in memory lane that I"m sitting here watching these ads waiting for the show to start after 😅

My high school and college years = love it.
I think this was the same week my mom threw me out.
That Nissan Pulsar NX commercial at 3:58 is the most 80s thing of all time.
Everything about that is 80s. Especially the cheesy 80s sync "built for the human race" at the end lol
Was truly "peak 80s" lol!
Everybody had a demo to cut in 1989.
This was my first Ontario Dave video. I liked it! 😀👍
Thanks! You still have about 227 move 80's volumes to go!
Thanks Dave, love all the Ontario commercials
Thanks Sonic! I have a lot more to rip and upload... I just need time! Stay tuned!
@Sleepy Jones I have a couple of shows up (a soap opera and a Canadian episode of Sesame Street). But for Canadian shows, please check out Retrontario!
That tempo sounds like a great deal 😊
So cool..I remember the VHS commercial
As a young person in Ontario, this really seems to highlight to me how there are just some things in the world which never change.
Wow John Roberts
Multitech ads were great!
9:07 I always thought she looked like Jim Varney with a wig.
I pretty sure that's what they were aiming for!

Ooo shit I lived by that brick XD

Ah, the good 'ol days. People who were wise with their money bought a Ford Tempo and not a Honda Accord.
Mirage Candy Bars: the bee’s near candy bar that’s a real sting!
I love how everybody's straight and white. Make Canada great again.
I really just need the AM. I don't think FM is really going to take off in a meaningful way.
Eddie Van Halen, did pizza commercials in drag?
What, no "Bad Boy" commercials with Mel Lastman?
$388 bucks in 1988 dollars for a VCR? Adjusted for inflation that is $882.56 in 2024
At 4:12, I'm 99% sure that's forks of the credit. The train track in the back and the hairpin turn... Has to be it
Lots of car commercials done there.
6:40 is that Gloria Ruben from E.R?
I owned a ford tempo. AC never worked LOL
Sure you’d save $6000 on a Tempo vs an Accord, but the Accord would have lasted twice as long.
At 6:52 - is that the girl from The Crow? edit: Bai Ling is her name.
No, but looks like her ☺
80s 🗿✝️🇨🇦

Awesome commercials Dave ? Question: would you be ok if I shared this to my Instagram account ?
Sure. No problem.
Shoe stores are dead.
No shit Sherlock.
Look pretty busy to me.

Should have bought a green park pooky..
It’s pronounced Nee-saan, not Nisan.
Zazur vcr
I hate all Pizza Pizza commercials all the time! Phooey for PIzza Pizza! Even Beavis and Butthead hate this commercial.
By any chance, do you work for Pizza Nova?
@@retroDave80 No, I work at WalMart
Oh jesus a Ford Tempo was a terrible car. Of course the Honda was $6000 more it would still be on rhe road today
9:22 diversity destroyed this pizza chain
what about Leon's ugh I never purchas there again
Ford crappy tempo
