- I'm starting to dig through some of my VHS Tapes!
Here are some of the classic 80's Canadian (Southern Ontario) Commercials! (The tape was dated Jan 1988.)
Some great classic commercials for CHFI, Q107, CHUM-FM, Wendy's and Lipton's Cup-o-Soup.
Hopefully there are more to come!
Enjoy!

I love how a 30 second ad can bring you right back in time! Miss the 80's! Thanks for posting!
After watching a few of these commercials I expect to return to an episode of Inspector Gadget, It's after school 1988, gonna finish a bowl of cereal then go outside and play!
This is City TV, everywhere. Love it.
diver362 R.I.P. Mark Dailey. Voice of City TV.
I think that's one of the things I miss most, along with his remarks at the commercial during movies.
was....NOT IS.... today's City tv sucks
I’m from South Carolina and this is pure comedy gold. We had the same commercials but the Canada and America versions are slightly different
That's one thing that's changed a lot since the '80s. There were always commercials that aired only in Canada, and commercials that only aired in the US. But the number that aired in both countries was a lot higher back then.
How so?
I was 12 years old when these appeared. Brings me back. Thanks for the upload. :)
Glad to see my time machine works!
I remember all of these! So weird that commercials you haven't seen in 30 years are so memorable.
Mark Daly's voice...99c hamburgers...wild.
I was born January 26 of 88. All these commercials were on TV the week I was born.
Ooh my lord.. I remember them.. thanks for putting it on RUclips....those were the days
I so remember this Olympic glasses we had a ton of them!
I’m American, I’m in love with a Canadian, hopefully i marry her one day.
Careful... they come with free healthcare, a happy disposition, and a general dislike of the current U.S. President. (And her money will smell like maple syrup too... really!)
@@retroDave80 don't forget ..most likey a hockey fan or leafs fan 😊
Will, how did it work out? Fingers crossed for you, bud.
Can't blame ya for being in love with a Canadian lady.
I remember those Olympic glasses we had a ton of them!!
Why does that pizza pizza commercial remind me so much of the Ernest P Worrel commercials. They're shot the same way.
As if I didn't hear "Hands Up" enough times in the 80's.
It almost seems like Club Med paid for this Youtibe video lol
LOL... just trying to give you a taste of winter 1988 when those Club Med commercials ran TWICE every commercial break!
Retro Dave It gets better. I used to have a PE class back then that would literally play this song every time lol I think that's all I heard around '87/'88.
thanks dave... 10 min i'll never get back, altho i remembered most of those commercials haha
The greatest decade to be a teenager
No the 60's and 70's were.
Early 2000s: am I joke to you?

Q107 stinks, same music over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over.Q shit 107.
OMG WENDY'S!!!! Me and my bud Jason Sims used to hit that place up all the time to grab six junior bacon cheeseburgers for $4.50 each ($9 in total) at the one in Beacon Hill, Ottawa back in the day (very early 2000's).
Worked at the Hellenic Banquet Centre with me. Dude. Jay! if you read this message me haha!
And if anyone else knows a Jason Sims from Beacon Hill in Ottawa tell him I said hi.
I'm from Beacon Hill buddy!!! Heck ya!
Now I want to go to club med.
Amazing, thank you.
An era without the internet❗
And we all got along just fine.
Not only do I remember the McCain SuperFast Microwave Breakfasts, I also had the same microwave oven seen in the commercial. It had “Jet Defrost” which was guaranteed to cook half the food and leave the other half still frozen.
Hey Adam... was that a Sharp brand microwave? Very 80's! (Oh, wait...)
@@retroDave80 I think it was a Toshiba, but that was a long time ago.
I remember that Glad ad. Did anyone in Canada actually just leave their garbage bags on the curb to be picked up?
+Tim Gueguen That seems to be the norm in Halifax.
I was like Grade 11 at that time...
2:15 .. Shirley P. Worrell
5:15 .. Carl .. lol

5:29 If you watched the Tv Show Cold Case...this is the actor who played the heavyset detective Nick Vera from the show....Throw Mama from train...loved that movie
""Who's this ?"
"This is cousin Paddy"
"You don't have a cousin Paddy"
"YOU LIED TO ME!"
GONGGG!!!!
Jeremy Ratchford is his name, and he also appeared in The Campbells around this same time. 😀

I have happened across this stash after searching in vain for something. Now I have a question. There was a furniture store in Ontario in the 70's/80's that had ads using their daughter as a spokesperson. She was maybe 13 or 14, and her name may have been Katie. I want to know if it's the same girl in a recent furniture ad that I saw. Does anyone remember this name of the store? It may have been CKCO Kitchener that played it.
Great question! There are two furniture stores in the Kitchener area that I remember from back in the day that CKCO would have commercials for. One was Smitty's Fine Furniture. The other was Marten's Furniture Wonderland that would feature a guy sitting in a huge Chair in the middle of their showroom. Marten's was beside the old HiWay Market in Kitchener I believe. Hope this helps.
9:09 one of the girls form the 20 min workout
We we pretty gullible back then I guess
This is TORONTO ADS! Not Ontario ads!
Where you looking for Ontario, California ads perhaps? (No, seriously!)
