I just picked up a huge 30” Craftsman snow thrower with a 10 horse Tecumseh Snow King engine with cast iron cylinder liner. That thing is a bruiser, it’s gotta weigh a couple hundred pounds. I got it as part of a package deal to get a nice LawnBoy and some other stuff. It actually runs and works fine, just gotta find some NUT who needs one here in central Jersey (where it also never snows anymore).
That’s a score! Those snow kings are good engines. I shit on tecumseh all the time but they made great snowblower engines.

Yep I got one just like it and cleaned the carb put it all back together ran fine but I didn't put the linkage back right so I have to take it all apart again lucky me 😡

@MowersNBlowers Yes sir! More single stage, but nobody needs or wants them here in the Greater Pittsburgh area. 1 or 2 a winter, but none this past winter.
I am in Massachusetts and I no longer want to buy, fix, and sell snowblowers. Many are selling their brand new snowblowers dirt cheap. Not much of the white stuff ❄️.

Yesterday, I hauled my sisters Toro to her house so that she could mow her yard. The tank had about 1/4,of a tank of gas and she decided to see how much she could get done. Don’t you know that she mowed everything that she was going to mow, But you could tell that the tank was about bone dry when she got done. Sure enough, We looked inside the gas tank and it was bone dry.
I don’t believe that I have ever seen a mower with the Briggs & Stratton engine or any other engine for that matter ever get that kind of fuel economy.
Are all of the Toro Recycler mowers that easy on gasoline? I wish my Ford F150 would get that kind of fuel economy.
Depends because toro recyclers had every darn engine on it, Briggs, tecumseh, Kohler and Honda
@@MowersNBlowers My sister’s Toro has a Briggs & Stratton engine which has to be one of the easiest starting engines that I have seen. Literally, you can give the pull rope a slight tug and then it’s running. This particular mower is the big wheel version with the drive wheels in the front. The wheels are white like a lot of the Toro mowers that you have featured on your videos. I think that I like the slightly older Toro mowers better than the brand new models with the screen looking apparatus in the front area of the mower deck and the wider looking wheels.
@@TheIronDuke502 The newer overhead valve Briggs engine are extremely fuel efficient, lightweight and easy starting, I’ve noticed the same thing too. My buddy’s Toro Recycler had a tired old Briggs Quantum engine that had a a lot of hours on it and was giving him trouble. The mower deck was still fine, so I put a newer Briggs 625EX engine on it for him. He called me the other day and said the same as you, he couldn’t believe that he could cut his whole lawn on one tank of gas and still have some left, plus the newer engine starts so easily he barely has to pull it over and it’s running. It’s also a lot lighter and makes the mower easier to handle.
@@mjg263 I have a couple of other mowers that I have been considering re-powering in which I would strongly consider using the same engine as what’s on the Toro. My sister decided earlier in the year decided to try a YardMaxx mower and the Briggs & Stratton engine that was on that mower was extremely hard to start and kind of had a weird sound when it was running - So it didn’t stay around very long before it went back from where it came from. I have a Cub Cadet 21 inch cut with the front caster wheels that I got for “Free” which has the Kawasaki engine with missing parts. I was thinking about maybe trying one of the Predator vertical shaft engines if I can’t do anything with the OEM engine. I think that the Briggs & Stratton engine that’s on the Toro has the 3 bolt pattern like the Kawasaki and the Predator engine. My sister has also kept the oil changed and we replaced the 2 cables last year, So it has been maintained properly despite what B&S wanting you to just top off the engine oil - So far, the engine has never used the first drop of oil.
