Loved the way both of you got it running so quickly. Goes to show you noticed that it had been well maintained. Well worth saving, a credit to all your hard work. Knocked it out double quick. These cars were great fun, easy to repair and cheap to run when motoring was at its best in Britain. Wish I could go back in time because of points and plugs and tappets, they were easy to do. Thanks ruth GB

I had a Herald when I was a kid (74'). I ported the head and used Spitfire hop-up parts on it and it was sort of a Q-car. I loved it and there aren't very many in The States. I remember there's a movie with Liz Taylor where she has a red one. Mine was powder blue. It was like having a Spitfire but with more space to work on stuff. I've owned Spitfires, TR3s, and a TR6 but I still think the Herald was my favorite Triumph. The best British car I ever owned was my 67' Sunbeam Tiger, it was built like a tank. I own 3 air-cooled 911s and when I'm driving them the view over the pontoon fenders reminds me (somewhat) of being behind the wheel of the Herald.

I watched you trying to get a better fit with the hood (bonnet). Short of really going at it with a hammer and dolly, it's always going to be just ok. These cars were notorious for the hood to door panel gaps and alignment. Overall I think she looks pretty sweet. Certainly a VAST improvement on what you started with.

I had 2 of these Triumph Heralds and they were quite reliable cars, one I had, had been stood for many years and once it was back on the road I took it up the motorway (Freeway) doing 60-70mph and it died on me, couldn't get it going and had it towed to a garage, 2 mechanics on it and they couldn't get it going so they called the owner an old guy who came along, listened to what the guy's had tried to get it going and he ordered them to jack up the rear which they did, he got the oxy acetylene torch and burnt a hole in the silencer and said try it now and it fired straight up, because it had been stood for so long the inside of the silencer had rusted up and was falling down and blocking it. It's a classic car now and in good condition especially the twin SU carb type you have there could bring you in $6,000 plus. They were classed as a woman's car because if you look at the 3 pedals you will see they are slightly situated to the left and closer together than normal this allowed the ladies to keep their legs close together while driving. Great little find you got there.

Awesome video guys, love the Triumph Herald,me da had a few but never a soft top, he had a fast back for a short while cause even us small kids bashed our heads on the rear windscreen when we hit bumps in the road . The bog standard one was definitely the best of the lot.

You said you weren't happy with the quicky paint job, but I doubt it EVER had a paint job that looked that good. Nice work.

Fabulous cars, noted for their great turning circle, better than a London taxi, they were often used as driving school cars because of this

Great little cars, super simple, weigh nothing, they did a vitesse version with an inline 6 cyl both in s 1. 6 and 2 .0 litre version with overdrive and twin carbs, v.fast little cars, had 4 headlamps.

At the time the Vitesse was the smallest saloon car to have a straight 6 engine

These and vitesse's were notorious for having poor panel gaps all round the car, a lot of them came out the factory like it.

This channel should be called Ghetto Fabulous, a lesson on how not to restore a car…

This is not a restoration this was saving something from being shredded and made into garbage like an electric car.
