I would have left the plugs out, so there is no compression. Makes the engine easier to turn over. I usually use PB Blaster instead of WD-40. To turn the engine over by the crankshaft, just remove that little plastic plug from the engine cover, the one just above the footpeg. Then you can fit a socket through the hole, and there is a hex bolt inside you can put the socket on and turn the engine over. On a Rebel engine, always turn it counterclockwise, or you can damage the cam chain and/or tensioner.
Hi gerald. On the 125/250 over here i dont think we have a tensioner for the cam chain so that said would turning over the engine manually with the wrench clockwise do any damage do you think?
@@scowlsmcjowls2626 There is a tensioner, it is inside the engine. It is a spring attached to a cam chain guide at the rear of the cylinder. I don't know for a fact what turning the engine clockwise on a Rebel might do, but I know many other engines can be damaged that way.
@@geraldscott4302 ok thanks a mil i just may have done it one or two turns on a couple of spare engines i have 😬 but 🤞 i didnt do any damage. Guess i will know if i ever need to use them! Its all a learning experience! Cheap and reliable stuff. But i dont want do any damage! Thanks👍

The cap on the case use a large screwdriver to open. Gives you access to turn the engine over manually with a 14mm socket wrench.
