A teenager mauled to death by two coyotes while hiking alone in Canada was a promising young musician, it has emerged.
The victim was identified as 19-year-old Taylor Mitchell, a singer-songwriter from Toronto who was touring to promote her new album.
Taylor was hiking on a trail in Cape Breton Highlands National Park, Nova Scotia, on Tuesday when the wild animals pounced on her.
She was airlifted to a Halifax hospital in a critical condition but died on Wednesday morning, authorities said. www.myspace.com...

A year after Taylor's tragic death, managers for Cape Breton Highlands National Park placed added early warning signs about coyote sightings at the entrance to every hiking trail (including Skyline) in order to prevent the same fate whenever visitors go on hikes.
She was looking forward to volunteering at the Toronto Wildlife Centre, but she did not live to have that opportunity. There was no one to come to her aid because Taylor was by herself when coyotes attacked her. Her running is what triggered the fatal attack.
She had a nice voice, may she rests in peace.

Her career would have lasted longer if she scheduled some of her concerts to be in the American states of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, upstate New York, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine. Otherwise, she could have stayed at a hotel in Sydney, Nova Scotia in order to prepare for her next concert.

She is now singing to God and his angels. You must wait until your spirit is in the afterlife in order to meet her.

Eva Cassidy has one of the greatest voices. I listen to her music, that of Mary Chapin Carpenter, and Norah Jones more than any other. Eva is at the top of my list.

I saw the documentary tonight, about what happened to Taylor--very shocking, and so tragic - what a talented beautiful lady - my heart and thoughts go out to her family.

The reason i say it is because there seems to be a sort of dreaminess that a living star cant match. And a tragic death increases that. People can make a dead star into whatever they want them to be, because theyre no longer around to show the opposite.

The problem was there were no advanced coyote warning signs in Cape Breton Highlands National Park when Taylor was present. The park's managers added those signs at the entrance to every hiking trail a year after her tragic death. They are an early warning to visitors in order prevent the same fate.
Curious how a view promoting people understanding and respecting nature, protecting themselves, draws a termed "pushing" and profanity. How would she feel about that? Have you made assumptions media is responsible?

Eva Cassidy...maybe you weren't listening to the right one. It seems you may have missed the point. How you can listen to her versions of 'Bridge Over Troubled Water', 'Fields Of Gold', 'Tennessee Waltz' and others without realizing you are listening to something extremely special is something I don't understand at all.
she looks gr8 and looks like she was having fun. Too bad on this tragic incident, she is at least immortalised by producing music but oh soo short. With respect please don't go on a shooting rampage killing the Coyotes. Catch them first, check for rabis and if they are not rabid let them go. They are also living things that reserve the right to co-exist with us on the planet. Just like our oceans, people get eaten by sharks and crocs here but seekend re-kill is not proving anything.

No, the coyotes were not rabid. Visitors illegally fed them in the 1980s and 1990s. Never feed wildlife. It is a very common threat about future attacks.

I don't agree with you and I am sure family and friends of dead stars don't either. The only people that agree with that statement are people who don't know the star and just appreciate the star when they want to hear a good tune.
