An introduction and demo of the Construction Master 5 calculator from Calculated Industries. If you need to multiply feet and inches, or fractions of an inch to get decimal equivalents for entering in a computer program, this is your tool. It will also calculate circles, diagonals, stud spacing, board feet, stair rise and run, weights, metric conversions and much more.

Can this calculator not find volume for a rectangle

    • @stevehargett4651

      a rectangle is a plane(2idmesional) figure.
I believe area would apply here.
Multiply length x width(the 2 known dimensions) to get area

Can you calculate arches on this calculator?

    • @MattKnowsThat

Karina Carrillo There is an ARC function above the CIRC button which can calculate the degree of arc given a diameter and a length.

Karina Carrillo a2+ b2/2b=r if a= 1/2 the total run of opening and b= total rise... so if you have a 72" opening and you want to put a 6" arch... I would type 36*36 =1296 then 6*6=36 add them together to get 1332... then divide by 12( 2 times the height)to get a radius of 111

I'd like to build something for construction industry where someone builds their building on a web site and it calculates costs.

They already have several tools like that available to designers and consultants like me. There's always room for improvement, and the tools that are out there are not perfect however, so good luck with it. I will add that the tools that are out there right now have been approved for use in compliance to building codes and programs like ENERGY STAR with the Department of Energy. Getting them approved for those process is a big hurdle. Check out the specifics for a HERS Rating. That's an algebraic formula that calculates the efficiency of a structure based on all the insulation and performance variables.
