Proud owner of 5 Overton/Goldie pipes. I don't get around to playing them nearly as much as I should for the usual adult reasons. Very fond memories of ordering and anticipating arrivals. Colin was an absolute pro through the whole process. I fondly recall getting a call at 5ish in morning california time. It was Colin masterfully playing samples over the phone from germany. Thanks Colin for the beautiful whistles you made me. I love them. Cheers! JackOrion
The man turns out absolutely top quality instruments. I own 4 currently and plan to expand in the future. The incredible thing is the range of characteristics and traits each whistle has; it's hard to understand until you get to play several side-by-side, which I've been lucky enough to do. You definitely get what you pay for, and he actively invites you to engage him in the process of making your own instrument. No regrets doing business with him whatsoever.
Colin Goldie made me a big hole version of his low D, a soft-medium blower This is the most incredible I ever had, the quality is just perfect and the sound is amazing I found everyday new characteristics on my whistle, the sound is so rich that I think that its possibilites are infinite, and that the sound has no texture limit This couple (Brigitte and Colin) are also amazing people, very very nice and helpful No doubt, this is for me the best whistle maker in the world
And then I have the "Big Daddy Bass A" lol! 😂Holy sh*t if somebody gets a belt of that they ain't getting back up! 🤣🤣 Great whistles from the legendary crafter Colin Goldie! 🍺🥃☘💚
I was at a Celtic Festival and I heard the difference between Colin’s flute and others. I liked his deep low tones. Almost like a flute Sax 🎷 with the essences of a windpipe piper. Really nice.
I'm so much interested in a low D and a low Bb by the master himself. Since I'm living quite close to him, I should really order one, so let's get some money 😄
Hi! I have already contacted the team to ask the name of this music, the guy told me that it was a friend of his who had played this piece but it is apparently not recorded and therefore impossible to find! what a pity !! this melody is amazing
What do you do with all the surplus aluminium that "falls to the floor" during the drilling and trimming of the tubes? (and I must not forget to tell that my two goldies is among the best flutes I have ever played
Hi Colin four minutes into your video you play that lovely slow air on a low whistle that I didnt get the description of. I would be obliged if you would so I could make an order. and oblige yours Jordie of Wolves
PRAY TELL... the chune in opening and closing... so familiar... any name for it? I know that the Bretonic hanter dro and an dro chunes often go nameless or sometimes, names were not given much importance amongst the older generations, as the tradition has been one of taking liberty in adapting the old melodies... still, though - if anyone could provide me with leads at least of similar sounding songs - pray tell - as i often warm up in the morning with a very similar yet more simplistic rendering on mi C whistle.
Hi all whistle players, I play a Low D Chieftain V4 but I'm not happy with the sound as it sounds very "blowey" and I'm just wondering if the colin Goldey whistles are much better or is there something I can do to improve its sound in the one I have.
The Goldie whistles are much better - that’s all there is to it. Chieftain whistles are made by a CNC machine and Goldies are all handmade from start to finish. I have 4 Goldie whistles.
Iv two low chieftain whistle low d from 20 years ago and has a very good sound and an f chieftain sent from England about 8 years ago I'm very happy with the sound and response, Peter from Ireland 🇮🇪

Fascinating and wonderful. Thanks for sharing your intimate workings with us. 😊
Recieved my first Goldie whistle in the mail not 20 minutes ago. Thanks for everything, Colin and Brigitte! I love it!
It may seem like only 20 minutes ago, but it has actually been four years. You've been asleep.

Why stand in the backround so many low- and Tin whistlés?
He built them all, he's a well known professional flutemaker if that makes sense :-)
Why not..?
