Startup/Driving an old/tired 1998 Dodge Neon 2.0 Sohc.

- This car is very tired, and needs a lot of maintenance/work. But its still an absolute blast to drive, and its so easy to work on. No drive by wire here, and you get feedback from the steering and car that you don't get from todays modern cars.

i have a 97 turbo miata, a 2002 wrx, and a 2006 corolla xrs, but my 96 neon sport will always be my first love. glad to see you guys still doing neon things.

I got one rn with only 97k watching this makes me happy with how good mine sounds.
I have a 2.4 with auto stick tranny and ECU out of a 2003 pt gt I'd love to throw in that thing ... Tranny has about 4k miles on it with a stronger torque converter and the motor is a top end rebuild that had 122k on it the ECU is Diablo tuned the waste gate agp stage two and a turbo smart driver valve running aus 650cc injectors .... That lil car would be a missile ... I'm saving it for a gen 1 neon problem is up here in Buffalo New York they're all rot boxes cuz of the winter salt 😢 matter of fact the tuner the waste gate and the diverter vale are from you guys over at mp 😂 i seen the video disnt look to see who posted it 😅
I had a white 5 speed the first year they came out ... That car was no joke off the show room floor .. stuck to the ground like glue and was light enough to het up and go

This 98 Neon has close to 200k miles, and has a clutch on the way out, lots of interior plastic panels making noise, etc. Funny thing, is that the owner, Clarence is now in the process of SRT-4 swapping it, so the 2.0 Sohc is on the way out.
@@modernceo he won't be happier... Isn't the weight on that one significantly lower than that of 04 srt4.. I think it's close to 400 pounds lighter stock and if I was srt4 swapping it I'd get rid of another 200
I had in 98 rt that i gutted to 1700 pounds. Roomate had a new off the show room floor 03 SRT. I got ahold of a 35 dry shot, would jump my buddy's SRT off the line then he'd shoot past me after about an 1/8 of a mile! Those were the good ole days. By the way, expect about $15,000 in sales in the next year... Im about to make the SRT4 plunge. Look for the wide-body SRT, should be getting started by summer '24.
1700lbs is crazy light.

Clarence has torn out the 2.0 sohc and is about halfway into SRT-4 swapping it.
