"...be inspired to give it a go yourself..."??? Are you kidding me? Never in my wildest dream I have ever thought I could do such a fantastic job. Really, I'm impressed, no, I'm shocked! Congratulations on the Amazing job!
I’m on a budget myself & just getting back into modeling after over 20 years. I’ve jumped right in & taken to doing a big kit - the Millennium Falcon in several kits & scales. Your style, commentary & techniques in a detailed instructional method is making it possible for me to do quality detailed work on my own Falcon kits, getting better as I go. Keep up the great work - maybe I’ll produce a video or two myself, eventually. I’m following your entire Falcon build “series.”
This is probably one of the very best MF painting tutorials on the internet. You do a great job of explaining your process step by step.I have done several Falcons in the past but my painting has always been my weak spot. I am a few months into the Deagostini Falcon and you have inspired me to dive in with both feet and do a full repaint on it. Great video and excellent paint job!
Thats amazing. I have a bunch of older Star Trek kits from when I was a kid. They are simple kits and because of that I havent given much thought to taking them up again, but having seen this I think I will see what I can do to bring them to life. Im truly inspired. Look forward to the weathering,
Wow! She looks BEAUTIFUL!!! Some fantastic tips as always too, and great to see the old hairspray technique again. Can't wait to see part 3. Take care mate ;)
Your videos and techniques never fail to impress. Love watching them and this one was no exception. Was both educational in terms techniques and also entertaining, with a nice result achieved. You have a great narrative style and am looking forward to seeing the weathering video :) - Sim
Wow Jon, she's looking mighty fine Sir....Well done mate... Did i spy a nice piece of Building in the background at the end?? lol.... Well done again my friend, looking forward to part 3. Happy Modelling... :O)
ive been trying to get one of them for the past 3years but never been able to find one but i did manage to get a x wing for 10 pound on argos website but the paint looks off so ive been thinking about re doing it myself but ive not done that for about 10 years sothanks for the vid showing the stages for painting and weathering i hope i can do half as good a job as you and ill be happy LOL
Funny seing this because i actually bought this model after seing the same ebay add... 425 or so... but now i say... i dont care if thisbisn t the fine molds:) again mate... thanks... this is an amazing reference videos
Fantastic work Jon. I don't know what you need a new camera for bud, your vids are superb quality and content. Thanks for doing this, you've made it that much harder to keep my falcon in my stash and off my bench :)
Thanks, I appreciate that, but the options and quality of the new camera have opened up some possibilities I didn't have with the point and shoot type cameras, plus now I have 3 separate cameras I can do lots of multi angle on jobs that need it (I film more than modelling these days) plus gadgets are just awesome and I wanted one!!!
Just when it could get any better. The boys with the best toys. :) I have little doubt that the quality will improve then. I'll certainly be looking forward to it Jon. :)
Hi, using your video’s as inspiration. Great tutorial for a newbe a model making like me. I got a question; what is the mixing ratio between the primer and thinner?
Excellent video. I like instructions. that are clear and easy to follow. Final result looks great. How long did it take you to do all that precision preshading? It certainly looks like a lot of work.
the pre-shading was over the top. I could have got away with much less, but this was my first proper outing with the H&S infinity so I needed to get familiar with the airbrush and this was the perfect opportunity! It took a few hours to fully paint!
hiya! great work! quic question! i dont have an airbrush kit, i have bought a hambol grey primer spray used that but i dont know what to use to achieve a smilar effect as you using a paint brush and acrylics please let me know if there's any way many thanks :)
Hi Jon, Great video again, I just noticed that you were using a grey background for your painting table : is it intented for better video (or photo) results, or is it for better (or more comfortable) painting ? Or maybe it's just a chance (but I doubt it, since I know using a grey background is popular for graphic artists for photo digital edition). thanks
Nice to see you back. I am looking forward to your next builds. As I saw that ruined building in the background I wanted to ask You : Do you play Mordheim?
You have a great gift which is something I wish I had as I would love to be able to airbrush and you really have polished a turd here...would you maybe be able correct any misgivings on the mpc/airfix falcon and fix all the wrong dimensions and give it the same finish as it would look fantastic with your paint job :)
I tend to spray about 22-25 psi but it depends on the paint I'm using. I like using odd cocktails of Vallejo paint and varnish which need a few extra psi to shoot, but I also like spraying straight citadel paints with UMP thinners, this requires a bit less.
hi where can you get the vallejo bright? without getting the kit or is there another colour you'd suggest if i cant get this exact one? same with the usa grey
great video and i have a question.. has anybody ever made a screen accurate model WITH all of the interior too? so like where you could open it up and see the entire interior too. ive tried searching the internet a bit and only found some pictures of part of the interior.
What are you actually using for the chipping coat, actual hairspray or a Mig/Ammo/AK product?...just curious as it looks rather nice.Only thing that I would suggest is, not using Vallejo when using the Hairspray technique, comes off in big chunks and is much harder to control. Lifecolour, Gunze and Tamiya give much better control and much more finesse.Don't see you posting on ML much nowadays either :(
Agreed that Vallejo flakes off in big chunks, I believe that the same ingredient which makes it so forgiving and smooth in application also binds it together in big sheets. What would've helped is a lighter application of hairspray and a lot longer time before applying the water. I've found it much more effective after a few hours - but sadly these days my modelling time is so limited that I had to chip almost immediately. Citadel paint also responds nicely to the technique. I use plain hairspray decanted into the brush, Tesco value hairspray to be precise. I don't post on ML at all these days, the last time I used it I didnt like the "feel" of the forum. I think someone had just done some heavy trolling or something, but there were lots of arguments going on so I've not gone back since.
Yes, I'm looking forward to making pt 3 but I have a baby due any day now and I moved house in December so I'm building a new modelling room. I'll be back with you guys ASAP !
"...be inspired to give it a go yourself..."??? Are you kidding me? Never in my wildest dream I have ever thought I could do such a fantastic job. Really, I'm impressed, no, I'm shocked! Congratulations on the Amazing job!
Although I'm a model railroader, I always find inspiration from your techniques. I can hardly wait for the third installation.
You have the best modelling channel on RUclips by a country mile.
Deeply informative and no waffle. Superb.
Thanks.
hey i like the waffle . but yea sometimes i dont. thank you
I hate people that say "Wow" at every little thing but, WOW! What a fantastic result you've achieved .

I really like the contrast you created with the different colors on different panels. Makes it look so much more realist.
Fantastic work John as usual. Your videos have inspired me to start model building again after 20 years or so.

Oh my, it's SO NICE to see a new video from you and listen to the voice that accompanied me while I bought my first two or three kits.
Another outstanding video, can't wait for part three.
Looks great, nice to see you back too.
This is the exact video I needed to start to paint my hasbro legacy 2008 Falcon
Beautiful paint work , Thanks for showing me the way .
Wow! She looks BEAUTIFUL!!! Some fantastic tips as always too, and great to see the old hairspray technique again. Can't wait to see part 3. Take care mate ;)
As always great job, got one of these for Father's Day so I'll be waiting to see part three! Thanks Jon.
That looks incredible thus far! I'm inspired to break out my Revell X-Wing kit and have a try at something like this myself.
Your videos and techniques never fail to impress. Love watching them and this one was no exception. Was both educational in terms techniques and also entertaining, with a nice result achieved. You have a great narrative style and am looking forward to seeing the weathering video :) - Sim
I found your channel by chance, so glad that I did! I just sub'd and I'm about to watch some of your other episodes. Have a good one!
Nice one. Will definitely be having one of those kits
for the price it's admirable! definitely a far cry from the finemolds offering, but easier to get and easier on the wallet
Wow this is amazing, thanks for your time and knowledge.
Very very inspiring, I make my own Falcon kit ASAP!
Awesome job John.
Great job mate looks Awesome!
Wow Jon, she's looking mighty fine Sir....Well done mate... Did i spy a nice piece of Building in the background at the end?? lol.... Well done again my friend, looking forward to part 3. Happy Modelling... :O)

Great painting tips! Really eager to use them on the 1:72 Fine Molds kit as well as the Revell 1:29 X-Wing. :)
I love it!!!! Waiting for part 3

AWESOME! CONGRATULATIONS!
Fantastic stuff!
Brilliantly done. Very skilled. When can we expect part 3?
I'm just about to move house, which has put hobbies on hold for the past 2 months. After that our first baby is due lol. Its gonna be a little while
Great Job!
Nice work
Great video
thank you for sharing your technic and the paint you use. think id like to do a falcon.
Hanks for the great video. Really looking forward to your part 3 video. Any update on the ETA for the weathering video?
Fantastic work Jon.

Looks great. Is that buildifng in the back round a future tutorial??.

very inspiring. This is the only Falcon kit I have seen in stores where I live so i might give it a go and repaint it. Which airbrush do you use?
I use a harder & Steinbeck evolution
Nice to see you back. I am looking forward to your next builds. As I saw that ruined building in the background I wanted to ask You : Do you play Mordheim?

Why don't they sell these in store, and contact you guys before putting it in production! How to make a perfect Millenium Falcon...WOW!!!
great video...what psi are you using?
I tend to spray about 22-25 psi but it depends on the paint I'm using. I like using odd cocktails of Vallejo paint and varnish which need a few extra psi to shoot, but I also like spraying straight citadel paints with UMP thinners, this requires a bit less.
Will there be a part 3 bud?
hi where can you get the vallejo bright? without getting the kit or is there another colour you'd suggest if i cant get this exact one? same with the usa grey
How much PSI of air are you set at when you spray ?
great video and i have a question.. has anybody ever made a screen accurate model WITH all of the interior too? so like where you could open it up and see the entire interior too. ive tried searching the internet a bit and only found some pictures of part of the interior.
I think the old mpc cutaway kit had an interior but it was inaccurate I'm afraid. modelmantom lit one with fibre optics iirc it was cool
and with the brush if i 'dont have airbrush it's possible ?
this millenium falcon from revell is the snap tite version? or there is another version from this company??
Its the snap tite version mate, in part 1 I show the box so you can get the kit number
Budget model .. professional Paint job....the kit is like a chunky burger ...but saves a bucket load of cash with your magic finish

is hair spray the only way for the paint chipping and what kind of hair spray?
you can buy lots of chipping fluids nowadays from model shops but budget hairspray is my first choice just basic cheap hairspray from tesco
Thank you very much sir, I'm in the process of boba fetts ship and I didn't know how to get the look, your video helped out alot
Did you do the Humbrol tutorials, you sound like him ?
+H4NDCRAFTED that's exactly what i thought.
Hair spray?? What type first time doing model so don't laugh lol any specfict type
Check out my recent video on rust tips, go into detail on it
