      Totally agree! Many people are easily wooed by spectacle of shredding, so the miss the awesomeness of someone who focuses largely on riffs, but Zach really brings is with his playing and tone. And like you said, the video formate, compilation of songs etc. make for really enjoyable watching. I honestly get really board of watching people shredding after a while... I'd much rather listen to someone who hammers out interesting riffs like Malcom Young, Jerry Cantrell, Toni Iommi, James Hetfield etc. Rifflords are where it's at IMO, which is why I love Zach's videos.

      Mick said they should've followed up Dr. Feel good with an album built around songs like Primal Scream. John Corabi was a blessing but the fans rejected it at the time. The gunslinger guitarists of all the other bands overshadowed Mick, but he was a monster riff maker and played to the songs.

      Not every amp works well for Tool. My 6505+ didn't sound right for Tool riffs at all. I think this worked well, even though it doesn't nail their sound (which doesn't matter). I play Tool riffs on my Jet City cheapo clone of this all the time, and they sound good on it.

    Based off my youtube creepings, the SLO is the hawtest amp of all time. Maybe someday I can afford one. I got the Wangs HD-15 tho which is sorta a clone. If you haven't peept, Killswitch Engage's album As Daylight Dies uses boosted SLOs and the tight chugs prove the naysayers wrong. Anyways, I hope you make more videos with this thing!

      @@GabeHelma Yeah my amp sounds a little flubbier and overwhelming in the midrange. But that might be cause it’s 15 watts. Also the Clean/Crunch channel is a clone of a completely different amp, a Bogner Shiva (Which basically sounds like a brighter JCM 800). I think it’s the next best thing to a Soldano though, other than maybe a Jet City. It sounds pretty awesome if you can reign it in.

  • @mountainpeakcloud8442
    @mountainpeakcloud8442 2 года назад +13

    I'll be honest with you, this sounds amazing, but it would be hard for me to choose an amp based off of your videos, cause you literally make every amp you play sound amazing. The combo of your playing, feel, setup, recording and micing etc. and then all the high quality amps you play through, just make it impossible to choose, because you make every amp shine. It really seems to come down to the tiniest nuances, real cork sniffer stuff, and even then I feel like you could play Tool, Motley Crue, Smashing Pumpkins, Alice in Chains etc. through a Marshall, a Diezel, a Friedman, a Soldano etc. and you'd make it sound equally good and the way it was meant to sound. It's actually frustrating seeing how good you make these amps sound, and I'm sure a large part of that is your playing and feel... the jealousy is real! 😂 The fact that you can sound as good as you do without a backing track or thickening up the guitar with layers, is really a testament to you playing, even if you're playing through some of the best amps ever made.

    • @ZachWish
      @ZachWish  2 года назад +7

      Thanks for the kind words. It's funny. On one hand, I love nice gear that's fun & inspiring to play, but on the other, I'm really not all that picky about gear these days. That's probably because I was on some 20 year quest to find the "perfect" sound, but eventually came to the realization that there is no perfect sound and as long as something is in the ballpark of what I'm after, it's good enough for me. Tastes change daily, and if I put as much time into playing as I did into hunting down different amps, I'd be a way better player haha! But there's definitely a reason that people find the particular amp or piece of gear that just sounds/feels right to them. There's also the old RUclips cliche where people will say "you make every amp sound the same." It boils down to using the same cab/mic technique and being the same dude playing the amps. But yeah, I'm just trying to make things sound best I can and make a little love letter vid to the particular amps & riffs that they makes me think of. While people could definitely make the argument that you don't need some fancy amp or guitar, I think it's really just about inspiration & connection. Does the thing make you want to pick it up and play it? If so, that's a win in my book. Thanks for watching.

    • @mountainpeakcloud8442
      @mountainpeakcloud8442 2 года назад +1

      @@ZachWish I definitely agree with what you're saying. I hope I didn't come off as dismissing the nuances in amps you show in your videos, because you do a great job in showing the differences, especially cause don't use backing tracks, and it's obvious that you put a lot of effort and passion into your videos. I totally get that if an amp inspires you to play, it's totally worth it. Though my budget is much lower than yours, I did splurge on a Friedman JJ Jr. which is way more that I've ever spent on an amp, especially since I don't even play in a band anymore, but it was totally worth is to me, because I feel inspired to play every day, and the tone is such that I don't have the feeling of looking for something else... so yes, what you say about "inspiration and connection" is totally true.

    Your channel was just recommended for me, that's a really interesting looking les paul and franken strat. Ever considered putting a description of your equipment in the video description? Great tone and playing man.

    Its got a really raw sound. I think its really good even compared the the other high gain amps. Sounds pretty damn good.

    Generally, I prefer V30s with SLO amps, but you've dialed in those G12H-75 speakers pretty well.
