Pastor Andy -- You confuse Athanasius with Arius. The entire Nicene creed was as a result of these two opposing beliefs. Arius was the one arguing that Christ was the first creation of God the Father…. Thus Christ is a created being, while Athanasius was the chief defender of the Trinity. Athanasius was the good guy!... I'm sure was just a miss on your side and you already know this, but wanted to correct the record. Great teaching!
It's so funny, _coincidence,_ that is. I've been feverishly watching all the PPOV's, from the very first episode in 2016 forward, and today, after suffering through some painful episodes in the 60's, I made it to episode #71 - _Virgin Birth Deniers._ It was like fresh water on a thirsty day, refreshing and re-energizing. But then, all of a sudden, I have this new Sunday School episode pop up in my queue right behind PPOV #71 and it turns out to be a reprise of the exact 12/21/2018 study. What a crazy _coincidence!_ Well, it made me feel like the Lord planned my timing, you know how you should pay attention when He says something twice, so that I would really focus on this wonderful aspect of Him: His perfect and sinless birth as the Lamb that took away the sins of the World. He is perfect in every way!
I would have loved to put this up on my church fb page......but for the comment about flipping the election. I get it but I like to put up studies that are not containing contemporary politics.
It is sad that some can not understand the virgin birth but to me it proves Jesus as the Son of God AND the Son of man. Of God through God the Spirit and therefore fully God and of man through the woman therefore fully man. It is also sad that some don't understand how God has preserved His word for us today, they think it is only in the "originals", that of course don't exist. If only preachers would believe in the power in THE word of God, we might see many more miracles today. Here is THE word of God, we know His voice here, not in any other new version. ISA 7:13 And he said, Hear ye now, O house of David; Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will ye weary my God also? 14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. See Acts 6:8-9 where Stephen has disputes with the Alexandrians - was he defending the true word of God and knew that they were corrupting it? The roots of the new versions are based in Alexandrian manuscripts.
How can you still get Isaiah wrong? It has nothing to do with Jesus. The word for virgin was not used, it says a young woman. It is about Isaiah telling King Ahaz that he will destroy Ahaz enemies before a child is old enough to be weaned. Why can't Christian Seminary just tell the truth instead of spinning the Bible.
Mary follows the Law. If she was not a virgin she would have most likely been put to death but at least she would have been defiled and it's part of why Joseph was afraid for Mary. A maiden is also a female who has not layed with a man.
I absolutely love your Rapture series, Dr. Woods, and am in no hurry to see it conclude.
