You should've mentioned alternatives to Far Song, since Far Song is only available if Owen the Blacksmith dies in Redcliff, meaning you have to A) abandon Redcliff B) kill him or C) never find his daughter so he commits suicide. A good alternative is Sorrows of Arlathan, if I'm not mistaken it's tied with Marjolaines Bow in stats but without being restricted to Leliana. You get it from one of the achievements in Witch Hunt (others are Dragonbone Cleaver, Vestments of the Seer, and Cinch of Skillful Maneuvering) and its stats (Dragonthorn) are: +3 damage Rapid Aim 6% ranged critical chance +3 armor penetration So while it's definitely not quite *as* good as Far Song, it's pretty close while giving full RP freedom
Fantastic game from the golden years of Bioware. It's a shame we'll likely never get another game like this from Bioware. I can't say I'm optimistic for DA4.
@@ChoppedCelery I myself don't use him often, but he can do some solid damage, especially if you give him the Rose's Thorn dagger. I do enjoy his party banters which is one of the main reasons I like using him.
@@Linkforlife199 Zevran is bad to me because he always spawns thinking stealth is more important than lockpicking, meaning he doesn't fill the "rogue" slot better than Leliana or your PC until way later in the game. Unless you have the bash mod on PC that lets you break containers, having him be your rogue is really going to screw you in terms of loot (money) and XP, unless you've memorized every trap in the game to go around them and are willing to go through an entire level again with a different rogue
@@spacejesus6581 Leliana is better, I was just mentioning that Zevran, having the assasin specialization starts with Marked for Death, given that it is the starting talent for Assassins.
Suppressing fire is good, it reduces their attack for no cost to you. Aim is good if you’re micromanaging mid to late game (early if you have the op dlc gear) bc you can just spam your rotation endlessly without worry of stamina and no auto attack but it’s exhausting to constantly play like that omao I switch to that play style when I’m struggling
@@ChoppedCelery Ah, I missed that. Only seen your comment about not using Aim. I alway keep it on since I don't expect them to do much damage, but more for long range support.
Wow, so on Xbox the Arrow of Slaying is actually instant? On Pc you have to wait around for like 1.5-3 seconds before your archer releases the arrow, unless you have the Rapid Aim on. Anyway, very nice build. I like archers, although when I first played the game I thought that they are weak and pointless. Lol. They are good... and in Awakening with the Accuracy ability, they are insanely overpowered.
@@ChoppedCelery Yeah, I like your builds. I tired and came up with so many builds, I did not think there are still ideas out there that I have not tried. But some of yours gave me new ones. And it's just so great seeing videos from this game in my sub box. Plus I like your commentary.
Would others agree that below thy belt and dirty fighting is beneficial for a rogue archer?Considering when thy enemies will foolishly attack in melee range to bite 'em dust. I mean... dirty fighting is practically useless against bosses(only stuns for practically a sec or completely immune), expect for preventin' grabbing attacks lol... well in exception to the archdemon of course. Plus with awakening dlc, you can use thy accuracy talent to significantly increase damage with your bow, dealing 100+ pts of damage per hit w' one of thy best bows in thy game, with thy assassination talent even more damage. This maybe isn't thy 1st recommendation suggested to you, but it maybe worth considering :3
Below the Belt is fantastic for the Archer. Especially on pc. It is faster than regular ranged attacks and you can activate it immediately after releasing the arrow. This will result in double damage in a split second. In Awakening, Below the Belt turns into one of the most fun ability: with Accuracy on a high Dex build, your kick is gonna be instant kill for everything below Elite level and even on Bosses you will cause huge damage. Because of a bug in the animation, sometimes Below the Belt applies the damage twice, making it even more essential to an Archer. And besides... who does not want to kick people in the face, butt, crotch etc? :) Dirty Fighting is also good, but it is significantly less effective on Nightmare, because of the shortened negative effects on enemies. It works fine on enemies up to Elite level, but above that it is pretty much useless, since your animation lasts longer then the stun effect on Bosses and Elite Bosses.
I recently finished the game with an archer build, one of the most fun builds I've played in this game. Much more op than I expected and pretty much steam rolled everything
What I do is: +2 Strength, +1 Dexterity. This is beneficial for damage and defense. I don’t use the dog much but if you have a mod for it as a 5th member slot or like using the dog then pumping those stats make it a beast.
