    "Time management only works, if you have time to manage."
    This is so spot on! Too often we have the opinion that we're lacking in management and/or organization, when it's really the time we are lacking of!
    Once again, another amazing video with realistic tips that are softened by your humour :)

      +Dorthy Savage did taking calc really help with the math? Because that's where I struggle. I get like 4 wrong on the reading, 2 wrong on the grammar, and then I can't finish up the math sections. I'm not even bad at math; I've taken 2 community college math courses, yet the sat math just always seems too tricky (I haven't taken any kind of calc course yet).

    • @dorthysavage6660
      @dorthysavage6660 7 лет назад

      Yeah cus you can use a derivative to find many things. It mostly helps rush through the graphing related problems. And usually in calc you have to know all the basic foundations of algebra(log,ln e^x.....) by heart to even finish a calc problem fast. And since the sat doesn't go past alg2. Calc kids most of the time do really well.... but not alot of juniors take calc. Usually the juniors who were always up one math level have just finished calc or already went over derivatives and have mastered the basic alg foundations to kill the math portion

      word vomit. pretty much, if you have a paper due, your first step is to write anything and any everything that comes to your mind. it can be sloppy and unorganized but that's fine. after that, you'll see your ideas flowing like a river. then you extract the parts you like and the ones that make the most sense. those ideas will become your main points. example: if you have a paper on abortion, you'll write about its moral implications, social, economic, legal etc. that's just a good idea on getting started

      um no. at least one all nighter. it doesn't matter if you prioritize everything, which is literally the case for almost everybody in harvard, you still might have to pull an all nighter

    • @alaynahanson2549
      @alaynahanson2549 6 лет назад +24

      Late response here...but to all future readers of this comment thread: there is no benefit whatsoever to pulling all-nighters! Your brain functions much more poorly when it’s deprived of sleep, so any information you attempt to cram overnight is not going to be committed to memory. Even if you feel more accomplished after an all-nighter, you aren’t going to retain any of that knowledge. Reneau mentions in the video to “know when to stop,” and mental/physical fatigue is a solid indicator that you should call it quits. Of course, this is easier said than done for people who have other full time commitments outside of school, but the fact remains that cognitive functioning is nearly impossible without proper sleep. Take it from me as a P.T. grad student with intense lab/study hours, or look it up if you don’t believe me, lol. xx

    • @jenjencurls
      @jenjencurls 5 лет назад +1

      Dorthy Savage I know someone who dropped out because they couldn’t stand writing essays... that’s an individual case, and I’m sure there were other reasons, but I know many people do not like writing papers. Psychology is one of the most intensive majors when it comes to writing. Yet people love talking trash about it, saying how easy it is and how people choose it because they cannot do anything else. I know people who say their engineering classes were very easy, while their art classes were challenging. Everyone learns differently. So whats easy for you, may be hard for others. What’s easy for others may be hard for you.

    • @PennyandBenji
      @PennyandBenji 5 лет назад +1

      Katie B. I agree...I transferred from a stem program to a business program, and I’m actually finding it more difficult, because business has more conceptual things you have to understand, whereas with science and math, a lot of the time if you are good at it you just have to practice it a lot, and you are almost guaranteed high marks.

    Funny your confusion with convenient and appropriate, it's a sign that you speak fluent French or Spanish (conveniente in Spanish is appropriate)! When it comes to time management and workflow, I like the classic Getting Things Done. You'll benefit immensely If you can take this 3 habits out of it:
    1. Have a reliable capturing system, so your mind doesn't need to hold ideas, just create them.
    2. Have a "Waiting for" list, anything that needs to happen and is outside your control, must be written down. It gives you a great sense of control.
    3. Organize your actions in contexts, for example, things you need to do on your PC, things you need to do outside, things you need to do in your phone. This way, batching is a lot easier.
    Sometimes I think going back to the basics is the best way!

    Really inspiring thank you! I've always struggled with how to be the most effective with learning (learning definitions/a new language) that aren't that logical perse. Do you have some insight on that too ? X

    Awesome video. Seriously..I've been studying how people do their time management, cause I'm quite a mess.. And your video gave me some clarity. Also, I've been writing down what my ideal day would look like and I've calculated that I need a 28 hours day, that not counting fun time or spending time on internet. I need to cut back a bit on my expectations.

    Well-edited video! I like that the sound of the background music is very low. It's not distracting from what you're trying to say. At all. :)

    i like the big rocks theory when it comes to time management. Big rocks first, plan them out. Let everything (the dirt) fall in the cracks. It won't work the other way around

    Does being a bilingual who came to the US on her 9th grade help explain why not being as great as other students at school?
