This is Sherry Hayes, the blessed and often distracted lady on the screen. I am the mom of 15 children, married to my husband for 37 years, homeschooling for 30 years, in love with the Lord Jesus since I was 12 years old.
My concentration has been on blogging since 2005, but recently I sensed vlogging is a great way to minister to others and build community.
If you like free stuff, make sure to head on over to my blog (you can also find loads of helpful posts there). Here is the link:

Wonderful ideas!
I'm glad I found you
💕💕💕 I swear you are like my homeschooling Auntie 😂😉😉🙌🏾 I have watched everything you have and I now look for my notification on your videos. Thank you so much for sharing all of your experience and wisdom with us all 😘😘
It's an honor to be considered your homeschool Auntie :) Ladies like you make it all worthwhile!
Mom Delights 😘😘😘💕💕💕
Me too :)
I love the working yourself out of a job...😂
I just thought of a great idea...making a list of books by levels...maybe have 6 levels....and pick our favorite books and classics that we don't want our children to miss and highlighting the vocab in one color and copywork in another color. This would allow us to make our program 1 time for all of our children, and we can add books into a level without feeling something is out of order. Off to make my shelves🤓...and get highlighters from Dollar tree. They can write out their vocabulary/copywork on the lesson sheets you made. You are always an inspiration to watch. Thank you so much for sharing.
The 6 levels can correspond to the 6 levels of MCGUFFY readers.
Wow--such amazing ideas👏👏👏👏
@@MomDelightsthank you.
Ever so often I get caught up in videos of open and go curriculum like Learning Language Arts Through Literature (which looks amazing). But than I remember how much more flexibility there is when anything can be that weeks lesson.
For sure!
You are an amazing teacner. Thank you for sharing an easier more interesting way to complete language arts.
You are welcome :)
I just want to say I love your channel. Thank you for sharing. ❤
Thank you for leaving such a sweet comment :)
Thank you so much for this super helpful video! I really love your channel. I've been homeschooling 17 years now and only through your videos and website am I able to feel confident enough to let go of set curriculum. Thank you so much for putting in the time and caring enough to help out fellow homeschoolers! May God abundantly bless you for sharing your wealth of knowledge with others.
I receive those blessings! Glad to be of help :)
You've been so encouraging to me! I bought levels 1-3 of your books from Amazon to use with McGuffeys and we've been using them consistently & I can see progress in all my kids' work!
That is so wonderful to hear! Thank you for letting me know :)
Yes!!! I switched to McGuffey after seeing her videos too and I’m actually loving it! We’re very relaxed homeschoolers and I hate spending all day twisting arms. Since McGuffey it’s bing bang boom 💥 done ✅ let’s go have fun!!!
I’m starting to sound like a broken record, but everything you share is so so helpful! I love Ruth Beechick’s books too! We’ve pretty much taken your Lesson Book and turned it into a language arts curriculum w the Treadwell readers. Thanks for all your hard work designing and sharing all these tools for us. ❤️
I saw that on IG--thank you for all of your support and love :)
Holistic Homeschooling I’d be happy to share that on RUclips. Sherry’s lesson book makes it so easy yet so meaningful as they work through whatever they’re reading.
Holistic Homeschooling the video is up on my channel now. Definitely look at the links I included in the description of Sherry’s original videos that informed using The Lesson Book as a LA curriculum. I wouldn’t have known how to do this w/o watching those videos. ❤️
Thank you for such a great idea. That’s exactly what I needed today🌸🌸🌸
You are welcome❤️
How did you know which books were appropriate levels for your children?
I have a free guide on my website, momdelights.com--just go to my blog and do a search for "homeschool for cheap or free"
You’ve inspired me...and so, I’ve subbed 😊
Thank you :)
Do you make History notebooks?
Love your videos!
Yes, just look on my website, MomDelights.com
Love your channel always always encouraging! ❤️❤️
That's my goal--thank You, Jesus :)
I was just looking for a video that would explain this method yesterday. Thank you so much for sharing!
Yay!
Thisis exactly the type of video I was hoping for. I've been thinking about taking this same concept and expanding it into more of a unit study type of idea. However I would mainly use notebooking rather than Hands-On projects. (Just what works better for my kids and I.) I really want to simplify things in our homeschooling by doing more group subjects and combining subjects. I'm hoping this is the start of that.
Hope it is, too :)
You are a such a gold nugget of wisdom! Your resource of Heritage History is MY answer to prayer! The notebooking page is fantastic as well! I will now be using Heritage History with my Homeschool In The Woods Timeline! It's such a wonderful supplement for my Creation to Christ Timeline figures!! Gonna glean from you mama, you're the best!
Aww, that's great to hear! Thank you for taking time to comment❤️
Please keep the videos coming!!! I come on everyday just waiting for more! No pressure 😉
You have totally transformed our homeschool! I thank the Lord for you ❤️
I love McGuffey Readers. This year we are challenged though as we have a young one who is dyslexic so I am facing the challenge of learning how to teach this child after many many years of teaching and settling in to my routine and now I’m learning all things new! This child loves the McGuffeys though so I’m looking forward to being able to return to them in the future when reading has been learned. This could take a while. My older daughter will love what you have shown here, this is kind of what I do with our own books. Maths is the thing I have to push her with. She would do anything grammar or comprehension all day but maths!!! Urgh!!
Hey Sherry if I wanted to buy a Sonlight Instructors guide for the plan and comprehension questions and use my library for a lot of the books I could theoretically use the readers and this method for the kids language arts correct?
Absolutely, and more, as you would be learning history and science as well at the same time: win/win/win!😁
Thanks for the video. I've tried to do LA with literature, but it would end in a flop. I'm sure I wasn't choosing the right books or overdoing it. This video helped. I found a book on that website. Those books are perfect. I love your notebooking pages. 👍
I'm glad I helped--I love those books, too :)
I feel like you are my mentor, thank you for your helpful and encouraging content. God bless!
Love this! Just found you through Instagram.
Welcome!
Love, love, love you Sherry! You are truly an invaluable source I don't know what I would do without you! Are there any other sites like heritage history, but for other subjects? Have a wonderful Christmas!
Bless you! I think you may find some other resources if you mine my blog, momdelights.com
So do you use McGuffey and this way? Just asking because we just switched to McGuffey this year.... do you do this in addition to McGuffey?
I understand you said you’re doing this for the week... but is that because you didn’t do history last week? Do you just flip week by week?
@@mommabsfarm8009 good questions--I try and stay consistent with the McG's and The Lesson Book, but every once-in-a-while I like to switch things up so they won't feel "stale" We did do history last week, but in a different way. I just couldn't let these good books go to waste, but I also did not want to overburden my kids with having them do both the McG's and these books, so I combined them--hope that answers your question.
