Hi Crystal, try using lard rubbed on to the cheese, I live about an hour away from the town called Chedder UK, they make wonderful Chedder cheese and it's aged in caves, they use lard on their cheese to help preserve it whilst it matures in the caves
before you put the wax on?
That was fun. My mouth was watering while y'all were tasting the cheeses.
Your kids are wonderful, smart and so polite. I enjoy seeing them in the videos as they seem to enjoy being with you, Derek and working with the goats. Must be a joy to have them there to help.
Your honest and candid report of the grand cheddar opening was refreshing. So nice to see and hear your wonderful and supportive cheerleaders, Emily and Derrick!
THEY BOTH SEEM GOOOD CHEESE GOD BLESS YOU.
OH I am so jelly right now!!! Your faces, and how they lit up when tasting cheese #2... I nearly cried with happiness for you!!! I bet cheese #1 would be epic crumbled over a green salad!!!
Practice makes perfect. Way to go Crystal
Honest to God, I thought I'd be bored once the babies were gone, but you are so entertaining. I love your recipe book (and other shit you do).
The crumble cheese would be so delicious on salads
Stahp ur making me hungry!
None of those cheeses are a failure for sure, they just serve different purposes! Stay Safe!!! 💖😊
Bravo Cystal
Great update video! I have a mac-n-cheese recipe that calls for grated Parmesan (mixed with butter & Panco) on top. #1 toasted would be perfect for that 😋. I sometimes forget how I did stuff as well and that’s the beauty of RUclips!! You can always go back and watch your own video!! 😊 Enjoy your beautiful cheese❣️ Josie & Jim
Your so real, love your videos bless you
So awesome! How exciting!!!
Oh Crystal I wish I could taste test them too. Really liked the Colby cheeses. You will achieve perfection this year, I just know it. Take care dear Crystal and family.🙏🤟🥰👋
Paula say your welcome. You are making me hungry.
Emily is learning how to make cheese from her lovely mommy
God bless!
I like the extra sharp crumbly cheese, no 1 looks like a parm, both look great, keep at it girl
Great job Crystal
Thank you for sharing this with us!!! They both look delicious!!!!
OH my Gosh, I would love some of that cheese ! Good job guys!
So awesome congratulations
Ha ha ha love the cover of your book Crystal!!!
Yay! They look absolutely delicious!!!!! Way to go- keep making them and don't stop
I love this video so much 😂
It's awesome to go back and see your kids so much younger, but the cheese!!!! 🎉🎉
We are finally driving into making our own aged goat cheeses too. I love all your experiences ❤
The second one looks great.
The cheese looks delicious 🥺😍
💕💕 when you went to wax #2 the wax dripped and made the shape of a 2 kinda cool.
Oh I’m so excited for you!!! Aaaaah Parmesan cheese is my favourite!!! I’m so jealous I wish I could try some!!!
This is one of those times there was smell o vision 😁
Have a good day 🌻🌻🌻
Bwahahaha I love that recipe & shit book. That’s so cute.
The dry cheese would be great for all of your Parmesan type recipes. My stomach is growling lol 😆!
Yummy! Yup would make Parmesan crisps!
Looks delicious.
Congratulations, the wait was worth it
love the video's and the content ... thanks and the merch is wonderful ... watching from Nova Scotia , Canada
Love the shirts. Your logo is awesome. I have really enjoyed watching cheese making. You have a great positive attitude. This will be the year for success. You rock!!! 🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐
I’m glad you can rewax it.
The 2nd Cheddars birthday is the same day as my and my granddaughters birthday. Lol
Nice job thanks for the descriptions. The cheese that popped but did not melt looked perfect for crunchy croutons. I love crunchy things. What a good topping for hot soups, casseroles, and such. Maybe I will make some tomorrow wearing my new shirt. I do have parmesan cheese so I will try that.
Great idea! Email us a picture of you in your new shirt!!
Early milk is less creamy maybe it was the time of their milking season that makes the difference. I used to make cheese and soaps with my goats milk and it definitely varied as to the time of year and what they were eating etc
Wow!! I just started watching your channel a few months ago and absolutely love it. I was unfamiliar with goats and certainly got a crash course. You are an amazing woman. Is there anything you can't do? LOL
Hey Crystal, Daren and bare foot farmer (bff) haha love to see these cheese vlogs. I so wish I could buy some and it would make it to Calgary. I'm a sharp fan myself. Much love to you all and all 4 legged fam too
Ur cheese looks beautiful
Great job! Thanks for your continued "teaching" videos! I've learned so much from you. I hope to try cheeses some day, but for now just starting off with soap. Have a great day!!
Yummy!!!! Now I want cheese
great job crystal Donna in East texas
I NEED THAT BOOK!!! LOLOLOL, Kristy in Missouri! Love ya Crystal!
great job
congrats..looks great.....they do look creamy and crumbly and crystals look good...hope mine are like that one i make them in future
Have you seen those cheese crisps sold in gourmet cheese sections? So good. I think you could totally make those. Wonderful with 🍷.
So so you see setting up a whole cheese setup outside your home kitchen? expanding these gems? Are the kids going to join you in this cheese making? HAVE FUN!
Miss the old intro... It's like the music before a TV show.
I love Hammock Haven. Her videos are so good! In addition to my 2 new Nigerian Doelings, I got a couple beautiful Lamanchas (1 doeling & 1 doe) locally. Hammock Haven also has Lamancha goats so its a really helpful resource in addition to all the great cheesemaking vids lol. I hope she starts making more videos again soon. Its been awhile.
Your cheese looks great! I can't wait to start making goat cheese with my own goat milk instead of having to buy it.
This is amazing. I wanted to eat it so bad! I love cheddar cheese... This video literally made me go eat some cheese in my refrigerator. I was disappointed! I want that homemade goat cheddar cheese! I love that you showed how to wax at the end. I was wondering how this was accomplished. Good work! I'm sure you'll get the perfect cheddar soon!
🤣
Love love love your personalized cutting board.
Me toooooo 😁
Got my shirt a few days ago, love it!🐐The cheese looks amazing😍
Yay! Thank you for buying one! Send us a picture of you wearing it!!
Where can I find the shirts for sale?
practice makes perfect for sure - but BOTH cheeses im sure are yummy!!!! i LOVE cheese - and i would LOVE to try them made of goats milk!
Watched you make some cheese, so can’t wait to see you guys taste it!🧡 yum, now I want cheese! Great work, Crystal!
Grate up the dry one and top those steaks, burgers, and salads!!
The first round would make great a great salad dressing I bet! Congrats on your cheeses! 🐐🧡
Those kids will not let that fly lol! They will start drinking wine just to have that cheese lol
😳🤣🤣🤣🍷
So awesome that you made cheddar! We are working up to cheddar! We got a firm grasp as yogurt, chèvre, farmers, mozzarella ,curds and Panner! Next step is cheddar for our goats milk! Thanks for all your videos! I have learned a lot!
My family loves cheese. Guess I need to get some goats now. LOL
Either way you all use the cheeses it will be yummy and awesome!!
Well at least you can eat both cheeses so not all bad. They both looked good to me. I wish I had the patience and the know how as you do. You know what they say practice makes perfect and you are so close. Great job.
Love your videos I made my first cheddar early this month and have been bouncing back and forth between yours and Hammock haven farms videos. My cheddar has some five but the curds were cold when I tried to knit them together fingers crossed. The cheese tasted like cheddar but off in flavor hopefully because it needed to age. I’m feeling more hopeful because my cheese also has give
😂😂@ the name of your notes notebook 📓👍😜
Awesome Crystal!
I love it🌹
Love all of your videos 📹 ❤ 💕
The cheese looks amazing and my mouth is watering!! 😋 I love white cheeses the best.
I know this has been over a year but you did make the perfect cheddar! 1 year old cheddar isn't really a melting cheese. It's a wine and crackers cheese. 😋 Colby or Jack is going to have the texture you are looking for
That's great. I love experimenting with cheese making from my goats milk.
Yep yep yep Crystal! Almost got it 🧀🧀🧀
I love a sharp cheddar, you actually use less because of the punch of flavor 😋 Fun project & fun vlog 👍😎
I’m not really into cheeses BUT I was routing for you and I’m kind of curious on how to make it (I’ll go back on your video’s on how). Way to go, you’ve almost got it the way you want:) lol it’s a good thing you have your ‘note’ book to keep track of your ‘nope, not it’, ‘almost there’, and we’re all waiting for ‘I’ve done it!! It’s exactly the way I wanted it!!’ Have fun, stay safe and healthy all of use:)
Congrats yummy #2
Looks awesome! I think you have it down to a science!!
I won't lie, it was like Christmas, watching you cut into those rolls LOL! Curious, where you got your wax? Did you use cultures? If so, where do you recommend getting them from? I'm still learning how to make the cheeses but this is another exciting journey I can't wait to try! thank you for all your informational videos!
Yum!
Hey kids now you can eat #2 since it melts enough to spread on burgers
I wish you could make some small cheese wheels.... like maybe 5, 6 inches. And sell them off to your fans.
Same!
You make me want to try doing this so bad, haha You make me feel crafty!
😁
These look amazing!
What a fantastic Job. They both look amazing. I would like to try some send some up to Ontario lmao Enjoy
Yum! 💕
We call those cheese crystals ANGEL TEARS. They crunch in your mouth.
This certainly answers the age old question: "Who cut the cheese?" Crystal did it!
Good job Crystal .! Well i had to go look in the refrigerator pick a few white cheeses and melt it in the pan ... was good but probably not as good and tasty as yours ..but i wanted some melted cheese so bad .
Cheese looks so good! Makes me wanna taste it with you😄
Awesome there's definitely improvement on your journey
Looks good
Lol. I love her reaction to the cheese for wine! Cheese looks so wonderful! Hoping to get goats next spring, if our move happens here soon.
They look so yummy!!! I know u will achieve that amazing cheddar..... btw where did u get those blue bowls... so cute!!
My mama bought them for me! I think she got them at HomeGoods
Oof, I want a goat dairy one day and it looks like making cheddar is a LOT harder than I thought it would be... I’m glad I saw this so now I know to start practicing early haha
Hola Crystal! Se ven deliciosos tus quesos . Saludos a toda tu hermosa familia. Bendiciones
🤗
It takes some practice for sure! Lol. I did very well with my Colby and Jack but Cheddar! 😳 I will win!
Oooh! Saw your stories . Looks good.
I was watching a video a few weeks ago and there are chefs who use a highly meltable cheese to blend with a non-melting cheese to help it melt into a cheese sauce. I think they used cream cheese in one instance? So that's an option if you want the flavor of your goat cheese but need to give it a little assistance in meltability by blending it with something else.
Both cheeses looked great Crystal. In my limited experience, I think either shortening your press time or using a bit less weight might help to retain a bit of moisture so thry aren't as crumbly.
Sounds great. Put goat cheese on your goat meat burger.
This is like opening Crystmas presents.....lol Thanks for sharing... i enjoy all you bring to your channel.
