These guys are going to be huge. There's too much passion and talent for them not to be. We'll be telling our kids, "Yeah I supported this band before they were famous"
Watching this is incredible! I've always wondered how a crowd would react to a mega hit song before it was mainstream and everywhere. Before they know what its about to be. You can see how powerful this song is even then! A hit is a hit, and holy crap did this hit!
I love how you can tell these guys knew they had a major hit and the crowd was so quiet and into it, they were listening to every word. Awesome perspective of how you don't give up on your dreams. Look where they are now.
My friend scouted them at this SXSW for his music festival in England. Booked them for under $800. By the time his music festival came around they were huge and they honored the booking. PS long live reddit
I ended up here after crying from watching a tiktok of Lewis Capaldi "moment he knew he made it" headline at TRNSMT in Scotland, then proceeded to go down a rabbit hole of other artists "moment they knew they made it" and now I'm here, proud, and in tears.
To be fair, this is at SXSW. Bands often--even established bands and "buzz" bands--will play the odd show in a venue such as this. I've played it many, many times and you don't just play a single showcase in front of hundreds or thousands. Granted, this is old and these guys were probably only gaining traction. But they likely had representation and were just playing a low key day show. For fans, it's still probably cool to see. But there should be some context added to this.
just wow. what a privilege and these people had no idea. I am from London, as Mumford, and it reminds me of when i first seen Amy Winehouse at a small gig of few hundred in London. was insane to follow that journey as well
I discovered them somewhere in exact that time, searching for alternative quality bands :) quality music online..... I am so glad the grew big ! they are awesome on concerts cant wait to see one live
Around this time the girl I was seeing told me about them. She was into new music and that was our thing to talk about. Anyway, we broke up and it sucked. Then this band got huge and I heard them fucking everywhere.
This is the true feeling and experience ANYONE can be a part of at SXSW. A person who truly appreciates everything about music in that crowd can tell this band would eventually be somebody. Every band starts at the bottom and SXSW gives us a chance to see them in their rawest form and bigger name artists as well at over 100 venues just like this one. I love my city. Don't move here. I hear Dallas is lovely.
Having heard this sing so many times prior to watching this I already recognise it as great song, I just wonder whether those in the audience knew they were listening to something special. I never tire of watching that
Nice to hear all the comments about this show. It was awesome and most of these people didn't know what they were seeing. See you at the Red House again in 2011!
"this song is called the cave..." *no one gives a shit* * I'll know my name as its called agaaaaaaaaaaaain" *thunderous applause* if this doesn't move you, give up on life
@markodwit This was one of their first ever U.S. gigs. No one in the crowd knew who this band is. My father is now a huge fan of both Mumford and Sons and Laura Marling who played immediately after them.
I know It is next to impossible that anyone from the bad sees this but this is why you guys nade it it big. in front of a crowd of texans who have no fucking idea who you al are you play and sing your goddamn hearts out and win six sixty fans in a minute but six hundred thousand in a dcade. these lads put their soul into their music and share it with the world inspirational. fuckin a.
These guys are going to be huge. There's too much passion and talent for them not to be. We'll be telling our kids, "Yeah I supported this band before they were famous"
fluxeable well you weren't wrong bro :)
Wow good call dude.
RUclips comment of the year. Not sure which year, but still.
They had a couple hits, but didn't get that big.
kewkabe they went international. We love them here in Canada
This guy filmed history in the making
I love how the crowd shuts up when they realize they're hearing quality shit
Sometimes I come back and watch this performance, and then I watch the Reading performance from a year later. Gets me every time.
Totally awesome. No one has a clue how big this band will be in the next year. Love it
You right
@@Licensedbeast U r also right
Well damn
These guys are going to make it big one day. That's a great song
Lol
28 mins ago... 😂😂😂
Oh yes, I'm sure they will. *_Eventually._* In negative two years or something.
Who is this little indie band? I've never heard of them.
Oh it's been 5 or 6 years now. I had heard about them a little before that, but they got radio play around then.

Shelby Smith whether 20 or 20,000 they still came w the same energy
We were actually at this event just out of screenshot. My cousin said “these guys are going to blow up soon!” She was right, about a year later.
I've always this would be the perfect setting to see them. Small pub garden, sunshine not too many punters. Perfect
My friend scouted them at this SXSW for his music festival in England. Booked them for under $800. By the time his music festival came around they were huge and they honored the booking.

That's respectable.
Did you know another story about of monster and men in first Performance in Austin ?
I found these in 2007, still to this day my favorite band.
I ended up here after crying from watching a tiktok of Lewis Capaldi "moment he knew he made it" headline at TRNSMT in Scotland, then proceeded to go down a rabbit hole of other artists "moment they knew they made it" and now I'm here, proud, and in tears.
Great post buddy! I'm glad I could stop by 9 years later after it's a legend.
Love the name dude 👌🏽
Listen here friend.
Couple idiots
Funny watching this now, playing at a such a tiny venue and last year they headlined Glastonbury! What a long way they've come. Love them!
Glastonbury is for borderline shit garage bands.

OMFG. These people have NO IDEA what they just saw.
A mediocre top 40 radio band?
I'm assuming you've done more with your life? Let's hear all about it.
Neither would you if you were there. What's your point?
Blue shirt on the right knows 1:16

Good singer + good songs = anything is possible.
Yup. Hell. You don't even necessarily need a good singer. Just ask Nirvana. It's all about the strength of your songs.
That old man in blue shirt is enjoying what he's listening
I can't wait for this video to blow up. I come back to it every few years and am shocked how low the views are. Currently 650k
I discovered them somewhere in exact that time, searching for alternative quality bands :) quality music online..... I am so glad the grew big ! they are awesome on concerts cant wait to see one live
10 years later and its still a legend
Thank you for recording this and uploading it. Nice to see bands before they became famous.
1 year later they were literally playing same song to 10K fans singing it with them at Reading Festival. Anything is possible; never doubt yourselves.
Around this time the girl I was seeing told me about them. She was into new music and that was our thing to talk about. Anyway, we broke up and it sucked. Then this band got huge and I heard them fucking everywhere.
A real Beatles ‘Cavern Club’ moment,an I was there right at the start occasion.
just a hunch that was the last pizzeria that they play at
That guy in the blue shirt knew that this was band was gonna get big, he is a prophet.
Whos Watching in 2019?
This video is getting the reddit hug of love.
Indeed it is
...Which is impossible because this is fucking youtube.

Reddit is cancer.

This is so cool, its like watching history before it happened
The old guy in the blue shirt is awsome
does he really play 3 different instruments plus singing?? omfg
These guys are pretty good. They should be in a band together.
the camera steadiness is better than most of the other videos.
These people have NO IDEA what they just saw!
Perhaps the greatest Band to come out of England besides the Beatles!!
Can I get an AMEN!!
No
The crowd knew, they just disappeared and had to listen. This is awesome.
these guys r awesome!
I see they have made some clothing upgrades! I thought that was just how they dressed all along lol.
I wonder what ever happened to these guys. I hope they found some semblance of success.
they sound amazing live

THIS MAKES ME SO EMOTIONAL BC LAST NIGHT THEY PLAYED AT A FLIPPING BASEBALL STADIUM
@markodwit This was one of their first ever U.S. gigs. No one in the crowd knew who this band is. My father is now a huge fan of both Mumford and Sons and Laura Marling who played immediately after them.
The guitarist playing the drum is actually a brilliant idea. That way the drum will at least will be played steady by some that knows the song :D
Wow! Just ...wow!

At last some real music coming through.
they sound good i hope they make it
Holy shit its Elton' John's missing son at 2:24

Epic early gig !
Why aren't they in their gold prospectors costumes?
Playing guitar singing and percussion at the same time in amazing
Thanks for sharing.
One of the best live performances I've seen. Awesome!
Old man in the blue shirt was feeling it, he saw it then.
@HeidePark1987 meant it along the lines of my happy place, but yes, the place itself looks happy & relaxed too *g*
@bmpsound4 Should I have quieted the birds as well? I have the sound board recording with no audience and it's magical.
I would literally have killed to be there. So jealous!
YES.
Is that bass player playing a David Ellefson Zodiac?
Yes.
Chills
2018 checking in

@dillynrs I was going nuts and I was behind the mixer....mixing the sound. lol!!!!

One of the audience "psst, hey; do you know what you should do? You should all wear tweed."
