OMG even though this video is 8 yrs old, it couldn't have popped up in my feed at a better time: I've been kicking around a stencil project recently & these aerosols open up a world of possibilities for me 👍
Excellent presentation! Well-planned, free of idle chatter; directions were clear and succinct; demonstration was meticulous. Such a breath of fresh air after all the time-wasting nonsense so many others record for RUclips. Thank you!
awesome thank you for sharing this with us. Now i just have to get the bottles .. although now i think about it I'm going to re-use old spray bottles! like old tanning sprays & other mist sprays! YAY. thanks again. ill let you know how mine turned out when i do it :))
Thankyou for a really informative tutorial! Wonderful. I think the free flow looks great! I will have to try & buy some. Thanks so much for your time and effort :))
Thanks for your video. I have a question though, I was taught not to mix any acrylic paints with water as it breaks down the binder in the paint does that apply here x
+Anna Hawkins Hi Anna, I found that the sprays still behave exactly the same as the paint and are still permanent when it dried. I, however use this sprays only in my Art Journal, thus on paper. Adding water just made the paint more transparent and diluted the pigment, thus the colour. The beter quality paint you use the better the true colour will stay.
+WoW Gamer Wife - I was also taught not to mix the acrylics with water for the same reason. The recommended alternative was acrylic airbrush medium (Golden Paints makes one, but I'm sure there are others on the market, too). I'm going to try that instead of using water and compare the results.
Yes you’re correct. It may turn out nice at first but over time it will dull and fade Use a thinning medium next time. Overall great video to show technique
Journaling it is a very clever idea. If you measured the amounts you could recreate exact colors every time and the formula would be documented for future reference. Do you ever use alcohol for the quicker drying time?
would work great on stickers i always taught about putting paint in a sprayer bottle and jet streaming it to see the effect kinda like a mini extinguisher effect on canvas
Thanks for this tutorial. I'd like to try it, but have a couple of questions. Will the spray nozzle become clogged when you have used it and then leave it sit for awhile before using again? I would think it might dry out. If so, is there a way to clear it?
+Penny Bantle I wipe the spray head with a damp cloth after use and cap it. If it clogs I just emerge the spray "straw" in hot water and spray - it get rid of any dry out paint.
Hi, nice tutorial! I love the music as well as the content. Can i ask if this can be used for fabric as i want to make some DIY tie dyed with acrylic spray paint (like this one). Thank you so much.
Tempura Kidz Hi, acrylic paint is not permanent on fabric if you need to wash it. To use acrylic paint on fabric you need to mix it with fabric medium - not sure if you would be able to use this in a spray though.
+arielbaby9832 It should work on glass as it is acrylic paint and permanent if dry. I think sealing it will depend on frequency of handling, whether it is ornamental or if you will use it outside. Please let me know if you have tried it on glass.
Hi! Just found and subscribed to your channel. I'm wondering if I can use any type of acrylic paint, or does it have to be "fluid?" I only have craft acrylics. Thank you so much for your help!! And awesome idea as the Dylusions and such are quite pricey and do NOT last! Thanks again!!
Christina Furner-Webber I have used a lot of different acrylic paints, mostly craft paint and the only difference will be that the more expensive paints contain more pigment and is therefore more vibrant.
When you add that much water to normal acrylic it WILL eventually flake off. You need to use acrylic thinner. Not water. They aren't watercolors. They might spray fine and dry. But once the paint cures and all the moisture is gone it's gonna look like a dry desert river bed.
Thanks for everything, I went on the web to buy some spray plastic bottles and for the one I wanted, people said that it didn't work, they can't pump the water out, so, I ask you and will be very pleased if you could answer me, were did you buy your spray bottles, thanks, I'm french and don't understand the name of your adress.
+Tina Lynn I have not tried it on glass, but being acrylic paint I imagine it will most probably peel off over time. I know that if you have acrylic paint on glass you can scrape it off after it dried.
If the nozzle clogs while you are spraying, the pigments is most probably not mixed thoroughly enough with the water. If the nozzle clogs after it has not been used for a while, I just unscrew the nozzle and put the end in a cup of boiling hot water and spray - this seems to clear all pigment stuck in the sprayhead.
l also found out if you cut the nozzle shorter so it doesn't it the bottom, that keeps them from doing that. Try them that way. l haven't lost one since l started doing every new bottle before l start any new one.
Climaticorus Yes it does, often when I haven't used it for a while. I just remove the nozzle and place the end in a cup of hot water and spray until the nozzle is working again. It will help if you wipe the nozzle with a dry cloth after every use.
+prachi gupta You will be able to use this spray on all the surfaces you can apply acrylic paint to. Some surfaces will need to be primed first, with either gesso or some kind of acrylic primer.
I tried this recently. Isn't there any other way other than adding water? Because i want to use it on A4 printer paper but the paper just ends up getting wet and curling, and only a little color comes on the paper when dried.
Marley Hanssen No, not a necessity - I just add it to help mix the paint and water. If it stands for a while the water and paint separates and the bead helps with the mixing.
You shouldn't water down your acrylics buy airbrush medium or mix propylene glycol and vegatable glycerin. If you are just making crafts go ahead and use water. If you are making art this is a crap idea.

Wonderful voice, not intrusive, you can concentrate on video.
Very Professional. THANKS!!!!
In the nail world we use a lot of acrylic paint for designs, I cant wait to try this with some of my favorite colors!! Thanks for the idea!

Well done, organized loved the spray testing,
Just found this video. What a great idea to put a bead in the spray bottle to help mix the paint and water :)
This is truly a money saver. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for sharing your gift. I'm going to try this soon. God bless you.
Iris Sanchez It's just a pleasure!
I was thinking about spray painting using acrylic paint so I can do tie dye on fabric, you gave me that idea. Thank you.
awesome thank you for sharing this with us. Now i just have to get the bottles .. although now i think about it I'm going to re-use old spray bottles! like old tanning sprays & other mist sprays! YAY. thanks again. ill let you know how mine turned out when i do it :))
Thank-you for sharing how to make spray paint!!!!!!
Great video I'm making them as we speak.
A terrific video...thank you - I dont have to buy expensive sprays....thinking out of the box,
So cool. What a neat idea. I have a plethora of paint colors.
Since I'm sensitive to spray paint in cans, this is great, I'd rather use a pump spray! Thanks for sharing!
Thankyou for a really informative tutorial! Wonderful. I think the free flow looks great! I will have to try & buy some. Thanks so much for your time and effort :))
+MissFlux It is just a pleasure!
+Stencil-Art dankie:D
but i love it i m defiantly going to try this
Awesome thanks
Can I use this for like DIYS like example I made a flower out of cardboard and I'm planning to color it..can I use this for it?
i want to use it on cushion,i'm wondering that we used lot of water on spray, it would affect the paint ability to stick after the cushion is washed?
Thanks! Im nine and i made a cool galaxy
Need to come do some retail therapy at your shop Sareanna! Hope to see you soon.
What's the link to your store? I can't seen to find anything on your video for your shop to buy the bottles or see what they are. Thanks
this mix of colors can appy to metal or alloy object??
Would liked to have a visual of how much acrylic paint was in bottle, then how much water added. Still, thanks for explaining the basic concepts.
i would love to make this my son is autistic and i think would love to color with these.
Thanks for your video. I have a question though, I was taught not to mix any acrylic paints with water as it breaks down the binder in the paint does that apply here x

This is fantastic. Thank you for sharing this - I wanted to know if you could do this successfully. :)

Do you ever use alcohol for the quicker drying time?
Hi, thank you for your kind reply. Any ideas how I can get a shimmer/glittery effect with/on the spray please. Many thanks and best wishes! Xx
Hi, just add mica powder (Jacquard Pear-Ex or Ranger Perfect Pearls) to your spray.
Stencil-Art hi, thanks for you kind reply. I did try mica powders but it clogged up my spray bottle!! Regards. Xx
This is nice, would alcohol work with the paints as well?
Ek het n probleem met my spray bottel hy bly verstop. Wat kan ek doen?
Hi there
You mention we can buy bottles in your shop but doesn't say where to go?
I am from Canada can you ship here?
Thanks
Nice, can this be used on fabric?

+Stencil-Art Thanks so much. I really appreciate it and am anxious to try this in my artwork.
is this meant to be for shirts? if not, is it okay to use it as a fabric dye?
No, you can't use acrylic paint as fabric dye.

Stencil-Art Thank you very much, you warned me just in time :)
Wonder if u can use this on glass and if it will work and if it would need to be sealed with anything.
+arielbaby9832 It should work on glass as it is acrylic paint and permanent if dry. I think sealing it will depend on frequency of handling, whether it is ornamental or if you will use it outside. Please let me know if you have tried it on glass.
Fab video thank you but can I use rubbing alcohol instead of water with acrylic inks please? Thank you and Best wishes
Hi, I am not sure if the alcohol will mix with the acrylic. I have never mixed it before. I use rubbing alcohol to remove acrylic paint.
Is it the bead is optional
Thank you. Would look great on greeting cards. :)
Nice vedio. Can you make deco paint???
Stencil-Art great ideas thanks
If you ever see this q I'd be amazed, but do you think it would work w gouache? Or is that for a whole other video?
What kind of notebook do you use? Or what kind of paper is the best?
Chappy Z Hi use a Strathmore Visual Journal or any mixed media paper with at least a 300gsm weight.
Add water?

Very good! Very good! Very good!
simona de carlo Thank you!
Would I have to wear any type of mask while using this?
Only if your allergic to paint or acrylic paint or ink even
Thanks for everything, I went on the web to buy some spray plastic bottles and for the one I wanted, people said that it didn't work, they can't pump the water out, so, I ask you and will be very pleased if you could answer me, were did you buy your spray bottles, thanks, I'm french and don't understand the name of your adress.
Monique MATHIEU pictura apstracta
Hi Monique, I am from South Africa and sell these spray bottles in my shop. I ship only locally in South Africa.
thanks!!!
What were your conclusions? Which worked better, paints or inks? Were some brands better than others?
dankie:D
???? Is this supposed to be a brand name? If so, I've never heard of it.
Hello , you make alcool , whith acrylic paint ? Thank you , i'm french :)
+Fayy16Chat Hi, I mixed water with the acrylic paint.
Stencil-Art Thank you :) I can mixed with alcool ? :)
would it be good on glass?
+Tina Lynn I have not tried it on glass, but being acrylic paint I imagine it will most probably peel off over time. I know that if you have acrylic paint on glass you can scrape it off after it dried.
HOW DO YOU PREVENT THE NOZZLES FROM GETTING CLOGGED?

Can this kind of paint be used on canvas?
Shaylyn McKay Yes, absolutely - this is just acrylic paint mixed with water and will be permanent once it is dry.
is it water that ur adding in paint
tisha arora Yes it is. I used boiled water to make sure that it is clean.
What kind of bread did you use
does the nozzle ever clog up?
Climaticorus Yes it does, often when I haven't used it for a while. I just remove the nozzle and place the end in a cup of hot water and spray until the nozzle is working again. It will help if you wipe the nozzle with a dry cloth after every use.

What beads did you use please?
Just some plastic beads. The heavier the better.
Stencil-Art thankyou
will only hot water is enough for making the spray paints.??? No other ingrdient required.??
can we use this on plastic, meta, glass.??
+prachi gupta You will be able to use this spray on all the surfaces you can apply acrylic paint to. Some surfaces will need to be primed first, with either gesso or some kind of acrylic primer.

Because i want to use it on A4 printer paper but the paper just ends up getting wet and curling, and only a little color comes on the paper when dried.
Ariba Khayyam I am wondering if Gesso might help? Not sure what type of paper that is that you have.
Thank you anyways. I found a way how to do it.
Oh that is great!!
How?
I just dried it and it worked well enough for my project Kathy Kurke
Does any acrylic paint work?
Bethany Peterson Yes, you can use any acrylic paint.
Ok! Thank you!! :)
c'est de l peinture acrylique et ?????

Cute cupcake
Do I have to have a beed in?
Marley Hanssen No, not a necessity - I just add it to help mix the paint and water. If it stands for a while the water and paint separates and the bead helps with the mixing.
Can I add mica to add some metallic-ness???
Maybe the nozzle would clog.
Plz mention the Ingredients also
Add alcohol instead of water and you have alcohol paints that dry quickly. And you can use even less paint to mix.
You're soft spoken so the background music is more of a distraction. Otherwise great idea to stretching acrylic paint.
Love the video. Very informative but the music was drowning you out. Very difficult for hearing impaired
metal*
I don't see any stencils
why a bead may i ask
Helps in mixing the paint when you shake the bottle.

do mix propylene glycol and vegatable glycerin make airbrush medium?
@@mmedeuxchevaux no I buy airbrush medium. I'll have to try that sometime though.
@@mmedeuxchevaux I've heard people do use that mix. Airbrush media is fairly affordable about 1$ per ounce and the quality is really good.
“Music” ruins this whole video 😢
