  • A clip of a simple generative patch with a martini. All sounds generated by the small modular. The RE20 Delay is fed from the FX return buss on the Mackie 1220i mixer (out of shot). Recorded in one take to Ableton Live 9. The martini brings microscopic variations to the ambient humidity as it slowly changes temperature. Kind of a dark cinematic vibe going on. Thanks for watching and listening.
    Patch notes:
The Xaoc Devices Batumi (quad LFO) does the heavy lifting in this patch by supplying free running LFO voltages for the notes played via the Ladik Quantizer plus CV for morphing the octaves, transpose and PWM of the Doepfer VCO; and CV sweeps of the filter frequency on the MI Ripples. The Xaoc Karmieniec phaser is sweeping the sounds whilst its LFO is providing CV for morphing the reverb size of the Qubit RT60 FX module. The Gargoyle Delay is adding dirty delays and feedback to the sound before it hits the Karmieniec. Finally the patch is given extra delays and some reverb by the Boss RE20.
    Martini notes:
    Chiroc Vodka
    Noilly-Prat Vermouth
Sicilian Green Olives x2 (brine left on)
    Toothpick x1
    Chilled glass
Mix = 1 part Vermouth to 6 parts Vodka
    Drink with appreciation.

Thanks DavilOne. I'm glad you enjoyed the clip. Sometimes I think I'm just imagining the martini makes a difference but the more of it I drink the more I'm sure it makes a difference!

excellent use of alcohol and a good demonstration on how two can work on a small modular together. When drinking a martini you are never alone. That's why you need two olives in that drink as they represent the eyes of the other.

HAHA, I LOVE YOUR STATEMENT: "The martini brings microscopic variations to the ambient humidity as it slowly changes temperature. Kind of a dark cinematic vibe going on. Thanks for watching and listening." But besides that, amazing sound, inspiring patch! And When you look long enough to the martini you can hear the tape fluttering of the RE-201 :-)

Cheers VolcaRock, I'm glad someone has spotted the silliness of the drink comment! After I drank the martini the RE-20 really DID seem to start fluttering....:P

I hardly drink at all these days, because modules are expensive, but that looks like one tasty martini.

Hi James, it was a very nice (and potent) martini but I too have had to stop luxury beverages these days to add more modules to my modest modular rig!

Impressive use of small modular! Is it okay to skip the olives?

Hi FILM4D4N, thanks! You can skip the olives to suit your taste ... or even substitute a twist of lemon rind as it works well with PW square waves :P
