Congratulations again on finishing! I was the marshal that told you that the "easy" bit was left after aid 3 and to be fair there were "only" 70 km left not 100 km ;) Hope you come back next year and we can race together then and drink some more beer.
Hello Gunnar! Glad you enjoyed the video. Perhaps there was a slight exaggeration in the story! Thanks for watching and that sounds like a fantastic idea! From Felix.
What an epic and awesome adventure! Nice work on getting it done. Every year I organize a 200+km road ride around my city and know how tiring that can be....can only imagine what 200kms of gravel would be like. Impressed!
Great video! Really shows just how hard it was. If you had asked me at the finish if I would ever do it again I would have said "No way!" But even by the next day I was starting to think about what I would do differently next year. #1 - bigger tires! #2 - lower gears!
Thanks for watching Ross! Don't let Felix's youthful looks fool you though, he is well above the drinking age! Bar tape: Seemed that screwing the GoPro mount onto the bar popped the bar end plug off and thus unraveling the tape.
Felix: bad ass man! were your shoe covers water proof? if so, did they work well? if not, how the heck did you feet feel after being dipped in freezing water for 12 hours?
7:54 Infidel! He's saying a gravel bike is not the king of all bikes, the ultimate do-it-all bike? Burn him on the electric stove! (campfires are so old fashioned) ;-p
What do you think about Felix's first gravel race? Would you be willing to take on The Rift? Let us know in the comments! 🏔🚴🏼♀️🌋

Felix so hipster he ran the rigid version of a bike made by a company known for its 'suspension' fork. cheers!!!
Cheers! Maybe next time Felix will race on a Hardtail!

Wonderful video. You guys are great; you tell it like it is with no bs. Excellent
Haha, first comment and it's a nice one. You've made our day, have a heart and 1,000,000 BikeRadar gold stars on us!
1. Is Felix old enough to drink that beer? 🍺
2. What’s going on with his bar tape? 🤨
3. Congrats on finishing! 👏🏻

Brilliant more like this please and congratulations well done hats off
Thanks for watching Paul and glad you enjoyed the video! From Felix
5:20 Everyone in jackets while our Felix has his guns out. Hard as nails that lad.
Seems like a great for a 3 day bikepacking trip
Yes JogBird, we agree! According to Felix some of the racers had big multi-day bikepacking plans after the race.
Felix films are always good well done I enjoyed it !
Thanks for watching and we are glad you think so!
That looks fun. And cold.
Chapeau Felix
Can you do smaller tires for this event? The course looks hard-packed (mostly).
Cheers @Target Pace I would say (given the choice) run 40c tyres minimum for this route, especially if on a fully rigid bike. I was really beaten up!
Good Job Riding out in Iceland. Cheers!
I was there last week, swing the rift in Thingvellir was the highlight!
Isn't it a stunning place. Thanks for watching!
Welcome done Felix, top man.
We share a lot in common doing the Icelandic Gravel Race.
05:10 I'm eating some Fig Biscuits as I watch this video ;-)
How much training would you say you had to do for this race. How hard was it to meet the cut off times?
The bar tape unraveling at the end of the race XD. Is it paralleling the way you were feeling? Unraveled
Fair play Felix lad. Some weights might be needed before next year.
Thanks for watching! That wouldn't be a bad idea...
Well done Felix!
Thank you for watching!
Hi Felix, what is that hi viz jacket that you are wearing?
Hi Lee, that would be the brilliant Specialized Reflect Deflect H20 Jacket - thanks for watching, Felix
Did you beat Oli Bridgewood? Didn’t he ride in that race too?
Freeeeeeeeeeeze.
Music from 2:43 ?
love felix
Felix: bad ass man!
were your shoe covers water proof? if so, did they work well?
if not, how the heck did you feet feel after being dipped in freezing water for 12 hours?
Thanks for watching Rob! Felix can confirm the shoe covers were not waterproof but they did do a good job of keeping the cold wind off!
I miss the diaries with the other guys, like the hill climbs with Ruben
Looks like a (full-sus) xc mtb route, to be frank
I'm going to do the Rift in 2020
Exciting! Thanks for watching from Felix
Could I race this on Continental slicks?
I would definitely not recommend it with slick tyres! Quite a few finishers were on mountain bikes, testiment to how rough the route was.
Love iceland 👍
I'd prefer to do it on my xc 29er
6:16 Wookies!
Anyone else getting a Fantastic Beast vibes from Felix? No?... ok
7:54 Infidel! He's saying a gravel bike is not the king of all bikes, the ultimate do-it-all bike? Burn him on the electric stove! (campfires are so old fashioned) ;-p
drinking water right out of the river just like animal
That bartape ... I know why I always carry tape ...
Was Felix the only.......ginger person in Iceland at that time? trololololol
