This is Hal McCormack on guitar folks. As a guitarist myself, I can really appreciate Hal,s sound and talent. This guy can flat out jam. You go Hal - killer sound. Thx
Nobody plays this song like Tommy Bolin did. The big mistake is in viewers expecting this song by BOA to sound like Tommy Bolin. Johnnie Bolin, younger brother of Tommy, played drums for BOA for years. They have every right to play their own version of the song. If you dont like it, listen to The Carpenters or Tony Orlando and Dawn.
I love watching BOA live videos especially the outdoor ones I love this wild and crazy post toastee version they was having alot of fun with it RIP Tommy and long live Rock n Roll Johnnie and Dandy
I met them at a Little general store in North Miami Beach Florida. Small recording studio down the street. Back in the 70s I was a kid on my bike. I whipped out a big bud and offered to burn with them. They declined but I got to watch and listen to them record. I was hooked. Great southern rock
The Only Time I Seen Black Oak Arkansas live was in Orlando, FL early 70's. Lucked Out Just Happened to be in right place, right time. THANKS EMMA LOL Reiner A K3, DID Some Soul searching last night. Beautiful Thing! Tommy Bolin, thanks, died way to young, but positive effect echoes to this day, you live on! December 4th 1976.Rock On TB.
Sure are plenty of arm chair experts piling on here. So how many groups are keeping Tommy Bolin's legacy burning? Black Oak Arkansas has worked the road far more than these keyboard commentators. Giving Tommy's work some added years on the fire. Don't get off on the audio quality. This recording is shared with the public for what it is. An account of this piece taking place. Which is in and of itself excellent. Not to all Tom Bolin fans expectations obviously. Thanks for the record. Go Deep. Tommy went Deeper.
we all now this is an open forum and you can comment however you please. that being said I guarantee you if go out and see the boys rock you will not be disappointed and a great time shall be had by all. Rock on B.O.A.
wow, I saw BOA live in the late 70's. Not a bad show. I gotta say, Johnnie, realize what a butchering of your brothers song this really is! If anyone stumbles across this video and is reading comments please do me a favor...if you have never heard Tommy Bolin do his ORIGINAL version of this classic....PLEASE back the hell out of this abortion and go isten to the real deal...you're welcome in advance! peace :-)
holy crap that's like a freak show between the lead singer and the guy stage left in the top hat pushing 450, jezuz gets your moneys worth at that show
Let me tell you something.. you guys need to have some respect... I suppose some idiot youngsters are the ones that post these negative statements,or millennial children... I'll just wrap it up like this children... David Lee Roth wouldn't know his ass from a hole in the ground if it wasn't for JDM from BOA,and let me tell you something I'm older and I got the opportunity to see Jim Dandy mangrum with the washboard and all.. and there was nothing like it. It launched Tommy Aldridge's career.. as it should have Jim Dandy's... I think we all know that record & radio programmers don't know what's what. I mean you know for example everything Tommy Bolin touched was better than the original band Deep Purple that was probably their best band come taste the band was one of the greatest albums. The James gang bang. Need I say more Jim Dandy is an American rock and roll hero. I mean look at it like this Tommy Bolin can't make it Joe Walsh can I think there's something wrong there. I'm not saying Joe Walsh isn't good .....I'm just saying ....Joe Walsh is boring .I think Rocky Mountain Way & Turned to stone ...any 20 to 30 minute Blues progressions... and you lost me. unless maybe it's Terry Bozzio and Allan Holdsworth with UK doing Caesars Palace Blues. ..
John played his parts very well. Don't fault him for the rest of it. Keep in mind this was a poor recording of a live, outdoor concert which would be hard to do as part of the audience anyway.
Why threre's so much arrogance when some one is giving tribute to any dead legends? Come get with it and enjoy for what it is. BOA just givng a tribute Black Oak Arkansas style to a Tommy Bolin song in memory of Johnny's brother I thought it was agrate perfomance.
That's called using a guitar in place of a synthesizer since you apparently don't realize it was missing. Agreed, nothing sounds as good as the original.
This is Hal McCormack on guitar folks. As a guitarist myself, I can really appreciate Hal,s sound and talent. This guy can flat out jam. You go Hal - killer sound. Thx
Tommy owned Post Toastee...once you hear the master, it's hard to listen to anything else. sorry
Yep
This video proves it!
I give BOA props for taking on Bolin's Post Toastee. Keep the Faith, guys.

Lead singer lives right up the street from Me , knew who He is, but never heard Him sing before , not to shabby, not to shabby at all.
Go Jim Dandy Go !!! 😊❤️
Fucking BUTCHERED this . I cannot believe Johnnie was even a part of this, let alone allowed it to happen .
Really what were they thinking? Ilove Tommy Bolin .This sounds terrible ...
+g clark ,I'm almost embarrassed for them .

R.I.P. Johnnie!!
Horrible. Talk about butchering good music.
Hey you guys! You rocked Ft. Smith last Friday night! It was so good to see you and I had a wonderful time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you are going to pay tribute to someone, don't give it an even less than half assed effort... WTF!
I want to play guitar in Black Oak Arkansas! How much do you think the gig pays?
R.I.P RUBY STARR
TOMMY BOLIN
Not much I would bet. I think you missed the boat by about 45 years.

..
Jim sounds great! To me the slide guitar sounds off just a bit on some parts, not bad though for a younger player!
That's Hal McCormack from Memphis and in 2024 he's 61 so not that young at all anymore.
Heroin
SAD
They all do , what am I saying?
Fuck yeah!
Origsnl post toasty sounds a little bit like a black oak Arkansas song
What a disgrace....Johnnie should be ashamed to perform such a low rate version of this classic tune. Absolute crap.
John played his parts very well. Don't fault him for the rest of it. Keep in mind this was a poor recording of a live, outdoor concert which would be hard to do as part of the audience anyway.
I couldn't agree more. This sounds like some drunk fuckers at a State Fair trying to earn the $15.00 cover charge.
Well, opinions are like assholes they all stink!
lololololo
OK
not even just OK
limp

Stop
you guys are good very good but please don't step to tommy bolin you just make yourselves look like amatuers.
That over-processed, poorly-distorted Strat sounds like abject.............shit.
That's called using a guitar in place of a synthesizer since you apparently don't realize it was missing. Agreed, nothing sounds as good as the original.
That's just awful, how can i unhear it?
Try the theme song from The Beverly Hillbillies. Works every time!
Way to go,
You mutilated the song, you're done
Wait a minute, I forgot
You actually are done.
Sucks.
